A federal agent was hit by a vehicle in St. Paul, Minnesota, Sunday morning and subsequently fired their weapon, according to police.
The St. Paul Police Department said the federal agent suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, and the suspect was not injured. Federal agents took the suspect into custody, police said. (snip) Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the suspect is an undocumented immigrant from Cuba who was "noncompliant" during a traffic stop.

Amid reports of a federal crackdown targeting Somali immigrants, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday issued an executive order prohibiting law enforcement from using city-owned parking lots for immigration operations. The City of Minneapolis does not authorize this property to be used, and it may not be used, by any federal, state, or local government entity or personnel as a staging area, processing location, operations base, or any other similar use for civil immigration enforcement operations.”

Twin Cities leaders spoke out against the Trump administration Tuesday after The New York Times reported federal officials are planning an alleged "crackdown" on Somali immigration in Minnesota.
