The Trump administration just delivered an early Christmas present to the American people, especially those located on the Eastern Seaboard and whale lovers. According to the Department of the Interior, “effective immediately—the leases for all large-scale offshore wind projects under construction in the United States” will be stopped “due to national security risks identified by the Department of War in recently completed classified reports.” “Today’s action addresses emerging national security risks, including the rapid evolution of the relevant adversary technologies, and the vulnerabilities created by large-scale offshore wind projects with proximity near our east coast population centers,” said Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum.

Across from the Cross Sound Ferry dock in New London Connecticut there is a peninsula that has been converted into a depot for wind blades and towers. I hope to see that terminated and put something else there like a nice park. Someday there will be a huge mountain of discarded wind turbine parts.

Submarine detection and communication equipment is so sensitive these days, I would guess that whirling, squeaking windmills interfere with those signals and prevent the Navy from detecting other subs near our coast. Not cool.

If the Dems get back in power, you can expect the windmill projects to start up again despite any threat to East Coast security and safety.

In this episode of "Try to Control Your Shock and Amazement..." There's no doubt that Minnesota governor and erstwhile Democrat vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz is, shall we say "different"? And if you're like me, you still shudder at the mere thought of what would have become of the country we love if the equally *brilliant* Kamala Harris had not been decisively mauled by President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Apparently, a group of nearly 100 Minnesota mayors has already learned. So yeah, 98 mayors across Minnesota have sounded the alarm in a no-nonsense letter to Walz and state lawmakers, blistering the state’s fiscal mismanagement. The distraught mayors warned that what

A growing number of Tesla owners are purchasing escape tools due to fears of being trapped inside their cars as a result of malfunctioning doors. Elon Musk’s EV giant is facing a growing number of lawsuits and investigations over reports that its electronic door handles become inoperable in emergencies and in the event of battery failure. Bloomberg reports that in recent months, an alarming trend has emerged among Tesla owners who are increasingly concerned about the reliability of their vehicle’s door mechanisms. Reports of drivers and passengers becoming trapped inside their Tesla EVs due to malfunctioning doors have prompted many to take safety into their own

The wholesale adoption of diversity, equity and inclusion ideology in almost all our major institutions has done untold damage to American society. It was advertised as something noble — a way to open opportunities for women and minorities who had been unfairly denied them. But through a combination of bureaucratic laziness and political malice, DEI soon became something approaching a ban on hiring millennial white males at the beginning of their careers. The harm goes far beyond the wreckage it imposed on those young men. “Affirmative action,” of course, has been around for decades, and anyone who’s worked at a major institution in America, whether government, corporate or academic, has seen

The California race for the Democrat gubernatorial nomination is getting crowded. It's still early, but it looks like Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) has decided to vie for the worst possible ad. This earned a ton of mockery, and justifiably so. I give you fair warning. (X) Yikes. This is worse than Michael Dukakis and the helmet. Then he made it worse. (X) This isn't even style over substance; it's cringe over substance. He's trying to appeal to younger voters by doing an ad with 13-year-old political influencer, Knowa De Baraso. But that just makes him look out of place and weird. Not to mention that most people don't even know
Lawyers: An Official Adjunct of the Democratic Party 6 replies

Not too many years ago, the bar was one of the pillars of the Republican Party. Abraham Lincoln was the patron saint of lawyers; my father had a lovely portrait of Lincoln, painted on wood, in his law office for many years. But times have changed: now, a large majority of lawyers are Democrats. (Their secretaries, on the other hand, are more likely to be Republicans.) This is part of the broader reshuffling of our political alignment. Lawyers have become Democrats, not because they have been reading Marx or Foucault, or because Barack Obama made brilliant arguments (just kidding), but rather because they realized that it is the Democrats who

Power continues to be restored to tens of thousands of San Francisco businesses and residences following a Saturday outage that affected some 130,000 customers, according to Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E). The outage was caused by a fire at an electrical substation, according to PG&E. By Sunday evening, there remained about 14,000 customers who were still without service, PG&E said. The company said it expects to restore power to all remaining customers impacted by the outage by 2 p.m. on Monday. "PG&E crews will continue to work until all customers have been restored," the company said. While the damage to the substation was "significant and extensive," there were no injures to

The murder of Hollywood Director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner by Reiner’s 32-year-old adult son Nick has become another front in the ongoing political war. Nick is a long-time drug addict, in and out of rehab many times, and often homeless on the streets of multiple states. He reportedly trashed his parent’s home at least once in the past, and some reports suggest he was diagnosed with schizophrenia not long before the alleged murders, apparently committed with a knife or other sharp object. Rob Reiner was perhaps best known for his writing and directing, particularly the classic rock “mockumentary” This is Spinal Tap. He’ll certainly

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday directing federal agencies to reclassify marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act. This shift acknowledges the drug's potential medical uses while placing it alongside substances like ketamine and codeine-laced Tylenol, which carry moderate risks of dependence. The move builds on a process initiated under the Biden administration but stalled by inaction for years. Trump emphasized that the order facilitates essential research into marijuana's benefits and dangers without legalizing recreational use nationwide. "This reclassification order will make it far easier to conduct marijuana-related medical research,"

There are also countless victims who have never received justice. Already this Friday afternoon/evening, news broke that today was the deadline Congress had established for the DOJ to release the files, and the department was doing just that. A federal judge in Washington ruled on Monday that the Trump administration had to either help bring back to the United States a group of Venezuelan immigrants who were deported to El Salvador in March and subsequently sent back to their homeland or give them a chance to contest their expulsions in the U.S. courts. The ruling by the judge, James E. Boasberg, was the latest twist in the long-running saga of the Venezuelan men who were expelled from the country on March 15 under a proclamation by President Trump invoking the expansive powers of an 18th-century law known as the Alien Enemies Act.

If you have struggled to find any reason to support the Democratic Party, you are by no means alone. A new Quinnipiac poll revealed last week that 73 percent of voters disapprove of the way the Democrats in Congress are handling their job. Yet, somehow, the party’s candidates managed to overperform its 2024 margins in all five House special elections this year. How did they work this miracle? One clue can perhaps be found in the recent revelations about election “irregularities” in Fulton County, Georgia. During a recent hearing of the Georgia State Election Board (SEB), an attorney for the county admitted that 315,000 illegally certified votes were included

Millions of people from around the world have ignored that irritating asylum requirement that you apply at the first country you reach and have come all the way over here to America in a quest to quench their yearning for being free (as well as their yearning to turn our country into the same kind of garbage hellhole they allegedly fled from, but that’s another column).
