SCOTUS Shoots Down Trump's Deployment
Of National Guardsmen To Chicago

Original Article

In a tough blow for the Trump administration, the U.S. Supreme Court shot down a bid by President Trump to deploy the National Guard to Chicago. (snip) In its order the majority claimed that, "At this preliminary stage, the Government has failed to identify a source of authority that would allow the military to execute the laws in Illinois." It further argued that Trump "has not invoked a statute that provides an exception to the Posse Comitatus Act," and that, "Instead he relies on inherent constitutional authority that (snip) allows him to use the military to protect federal personnel and property."

Comments:

Routine Federal immigration enforcement actions in Chicago were met with violent attacks on Federal property and enforcement personnel. In response, President Trump ordered the National Guard to Chicago for the limited purpose of protecting Federal personnel and property. The USSC majority's rationale for allowing a Resistance Judge's order staying this deployment raises several basic questions: (1) If the President lacks inherent authority to protect Federal personnel and property, what does s/he have inherent authority to do?; (2) Can the National Guard be used for limited protective purposes in the absence of an insurrection or general breakdown of law and order?; and (3) Do the three "Federalist judges" really prefer using regular military personnel (whose job is to kill foreign adversaries) to National Guard personnel (who are normal citizens trained and available to deal with civil disorders) for limited protective functions within the US?

Kavanauf and Barrett continue to disappoint. As for Roberts and the Three Blind Mice, they would only surprise if they showed Constitutional judgement.

The SC issued a stay order, until arguments could be held. That is a lot different from "shoot down".

You can't save everyone. Especially those that have decided to go down a different path. So let them. The citizens of Chicago own this one so let them live it. I think it was a poor decision on SCOTUS part but it's not totally over. In the meantime keep your head on a swivel and watch your back. Oh, and don't ride the L train. For some reason it draws the attention of those who like to stab people. No different than other blue cities.

Given the plunge in crime, including murder, in locales where the Guard has been deployed, maybe the six just want more of Chicago's south side residents to die?

It would be one thing---still bad---if the thugs were only shooting each other. They have no regard for innocent by-standers who get caught in the crossfire or get hit by slugs that miss their intended targets and keep on going.

Trump did his job, Porky Pritzker and Brandon Johnson would rather have Chicago citizens continue to suffer attacks on the street and watch little children get gunned down in gang wars. My sympathy meter seems to be frozen on zero today.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled that the Republican-led Georgia Election Board will have access to 2020 presidential ballots and documents, but it will have to cover the $400,000 cost of producing the materials. (snip) Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts told Fox5 that the elections were open and transparent, and he insisted all votes were counted. He also asserted that Fulton County taxpayers will not be on the hook for the $400,000 that the production of the documents are estimated to cost.

The tabulation tapes in question included 315,000 votes -- exponentially more than the 11,780 votes mentioned by President Trump in his fateful phone call to Raffensperger in January, 2021. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's downplaying of a 2020 election blunder as a mere "clerical error" has done little to quiet a growing backlash within his own party. Far from accepting Raffensperger's explanation that Fulton County's failure to properly sign tabulation tapes "does not erase valid, legal votes," 2020 election skeptics are calling for a federal investigation into what they view as a massive coverup. One state senator called for arrests and charges of treason.

Democrat's push for the release of documents surrounding convicted sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein through a house vote appears to have backfired, as the disclosures intended to scrutinize Team Trump have instead spotlighted their own party's connections, including former President Bill Clinton's prominent mentions and salacious photos with the disgraced financier and/or young women. Clinton had long been married to Hillary Clinton at the time the photos were taken.

It is an uncomfortable fact that the United States government was complicit in child trafficking during Operation Allies Refuge, the evacuation mission that began in July of 2021 when the United States withdrew from Afghanistan. What is most distressing is that the government quickly swept claims of forced marriage and sexual assaults under the rug. (snip) "[I]ntake staff at Fort McCoy reported multiple cases of minor females who presented as "married" to adult Afghan men as well as polygamous families. (snip) Rather than vigorously investigate these claims, the State Department waved them away, saying they "are anecdotal."

If nothing comes of Fulton County's admission, the implication will be that election laws can be treated as optional rather than binding. Fulton County made an admission that should have commanded national attention. During a hearing before the Georgia State Election Board, county officials acknowledged that approximately 315,000 early ballots cast in the 2020 presidential election were unlawfully certified yet were nevertheless included in Georgia's final, official results, in a race Joe Biden was officially declared to have won by just 11,779 votes.

Nearly two weeks after the December meeting of the Georgia State Election Board, some continue to claim Fulton County was fraudulent because tabulation tapes were not signed that included 315,000 votes. Five years after the 2020 election, challenges continue despite multiple audits. (snip) Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger addressed the accusations in a social media post. "Georgia has the most secure elections in the country and all voters were verified with photo ID and lawfully cast their ballots. A clerical error at the end of the day does not erase valid, legal votes," Raffensperger said.

Rather than reforming the broken system, Democratic "leaders" kick the can, forcing private-sector job creators to subsidize their failures. California stands alone as the only state in the nation failing to repay its massive federal pandemic-era unemployment loan, now ballooning beyond $20 billion and projected to climb higher. While every other state responsibly used its pandemic funds to settle their debts, Governor Newsom (D) and the Democrat-controlled Legislature chose to spend like drunken sailors, leaving employers -- large and small -- to bear the crushing burden through skyrocketing payroll taxes.
