Reform UK would have won every mayoral election Labour has delayed for two years as part of a highly convenient local government reorganisation. The Telegraphâs Ollie Corfe has more.
Zia Yusuf, Reformâs former Chairman and current Head of Policy, said the Government had made a âblatant attempt to stop big winsâ for the Right-wing party by delaying the election of four new mayors. He is not wrong.
The reasons behind the decision on Thursday to delay the elections may well be technical, with Labour blaming ongoing local government reorganisation, but there is no denying the move is also highly convenient for Sir Keir Starmerâs party.

In the eyes of Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups, the plan is nothing but another temporary ceasefire, not different than previous ones reached between Israel and Hamas over the past two decades.
Those who think that Hamas, by agreeing to Trump's "peace plan," has abandoned its desire to eliminate Israel or has softened its position toward Israel are unfortunately dead wrong.
Hamas leaders have stressed their opposition to the involvement of any non-Palestinians in the future administration of the Gaza Strip.

The state of Illinois is about to make it possible for illegal aliens to access state and local student financial aid. Governor J.B. Pritzker has already signed the law and it goes into effect on January 1st of 2026.
This is happening as the Trump Justice Department is suing various states over this exact issue. Student financial aid that is meant for American citizens should not be going to people who are in the country illegally.
This is an issue that goes directly to the core of what Trump has run on repeatedly. A law signed by Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL)

Perhaps more significant to US strategic interests [than Venezuela's smuggling illegal drugs] is Maduro's cooperation with an anti-American alliance of autocracies in the Western Hemisphere. These include Russia, Cuba, China and Iran.
Iran's regime, both before and after a number of visits to Venezuela, delivered military drones to Venezuela and has been strengthening Venezuela's military, thereby enabling the Maduro regime to threaten its neighbors including Guyana, Trinidad and Colombia, as well as the US.
Cuba's role in Venezuela is even more invasive than that of Iran.
Russia's role in helping to buttress Maduro's regime includes arms sales, joint army and air force exercises,

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed in Tuesdayâs cabinet meeting with President Trump that half of all Minnesotans have submitted âfraudulentâ visa applications.
âYou told me to look into Minnesota and their fraud on visas and their programs: 50% of them are fraudulent, which means that that wacko Gov. Walz either is an idiot or he did it on purpose â and I think heâs both, sir,â Noem said, prompting chuckles in the He brought people in there, illegally, that never shouldâve been in this country, said they were somebody that theyâre not, they said they were married to somebody who was their brother or somebody else,â added the DHS chief,

Is it too much to ask for immigrants who love America and its system of government?
Thatâs a question that President Trump has been asking, with an especially high level of vitriol, in the wake of the horrific shooting of members of the National Guard in Washington, DC, the day before Thanksgiving.
In a corker of a Truth Social post announcing âa permanent pauseâ in immigration from Third World countries, Trump went after Minneapolis-area Rep. Ilhan Omar, and for good reason.
Omar stands for everything we shouldnât want an immigrant to be â ungrateful, hostile to the American system as such, and perhaps not above perpetrating immigration fraud.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted a New York Times reporter over a story she co-authored last week, painting President Trump as a man in decline.
The article described Trump, 79, appearing to nod off in the Oval Office and claimed that the 47th president has fewer public events on his busy schedule than he did in his first term.
âI will point out one fake news story over the weekend before I let you all go from the New York Times that took about 1/3 of the presidentâs daily calendar and his daily schedule and said that heâs doing less than he did in his first term,

A long time ago, in 2006, my son Seth wrote an article ââWhy I left the Leftââ for RealClearPolitics.com.
When President George W. Bushâs âbrainâ Karl Rove read it, OMG he invited Seth to lunch at the White House! That was many years after I personally left the Left, but I couldnât think of a more apt title for this article.
Iâm not sure what motivates people to become politically active. In my case, it was reading and hearing and watching events and people who infuriated me, and what I learned about myself is that anger, at least in my case, is not only energizing, but mobilizing.

Iran's leaders appear to see nuclear weapons not simply as a strategic tool, but as an existential necessity â a shield for the regime's survival and a sword to advance its revolutionary ideology.
Iran's leadership sees that one nuclear-armed missile aimed at Israel could accomplish what decades of proxy warfare, rhetoric, and regional maneuvering have failed to do. A nuclear weapon, in their ideological worldview, offers the possibility of wiping out Israel, fulfilling what they see as a historic, strategic, and religious prophecy.
