Wednesday on CNN’s “The Lead,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said President Donald Trump’s comments about Somalians were creating a dangerous situation because his followers have “exhibited violence.”
Today at the White House, Trump said, “These Somalians have taken billions of dollars out of our country. They’ve taken billions and billions of dollars. They have a representative, Ilhan Omar, who they say married her brother. She should be thrown the hell out of our country. And most of those people, they have destroyed Minnesota.”
Host Jake Tapper said, “What is the practical impact when a President of the United States demonizes an entire group of people based on ethnicity?

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that his administration is resetting Biden-era Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards that increased car prices.
Trump and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the reset in the Oval Office while flanked by Republican lawmakers and auto industry leaders. “We’re officially terminating Joe Biden’s ridiculously burdensome, horrible, actually, CAFE standards that impose expensive restrictions and all sorts of problems to auto makers,” Trump said.
The president noted that the CAFE standards imposed by the previous administration impacted both domestic and foreign manufacturers making cars for the American market and, in turn, consumers.

The state of Illinois is about to make it possible for illegal aliens to access state and local student financial aid. Governor J.B. Pritzker has already signed the law and it goes into effect on January 1st of 2026.
This is happening as the Trump Justice Department is suing various states over this exact issue. Student financial aid that is meant for American citizens should not be going to people who are in the country illegally.
This is an issue that goes directly to the core of what Trump has run on repeatedly. A law signed by Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL)

Hoo boy. Sometimes, you might do something so embarrassing, so humiliating, that you want to hide in the closet. The prestigious science journal Nature may be thinking about doing that right about now, because on Wednesday, they officially retracted an influential 2024 climate report that predicted gloom and doom, death and misery, and impending economic catastrophe.
As is the case with so much of the leftist climate narrative, their wild claims were quite simply unproven:
In April 2024, the prestigious journal Nature released a study finding that climate change would cause far more economic damage by the end of the century than previous estimates had suggested.

The shooting of two National Guard members in Washington last week has taken a jarring new turn, and the emerging theory about the gunman’s motive points to a far deeper national security threat.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the 29-year-old Afghan national accused of killing Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom and critically wounding Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, had served alongside U.S. forces in Afghanistan before Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal. If you’ve been wondering why someone who once helped American troops would suddenly target National Guardsmen, you’re not the only one asking that question. Federal investigators now believe the Taliban may have blackmailed Lakanwal into carrying out the attack.

Two Virginia twin brothers were arrested for their alleged roles in deleting government databases hosted by a federal government contractor, the Justice Department announced on Wednesday.
Muneeb and Sohaib Akhter, both 34, were indicted last month for allegedly conspiring to delete databases used to store U.S. government information, the DOJ said in a news release.
The arrests come after Bloomberg News reported in May how the brothers allegedly compromised data across several agencies, including the IRS and the General Services Administration.

CNN host Jake Tapper misidentified Washington, DC, pipe bomb suspect Brian Cole Jr. as a “30-year-old white man” just before airing photos revealing him to be a black man.
“Brian Cole Jr., a 30-year-old white man from the D.C. suburbs, is charged with transporting an explosive device in interstate commerce and with malicious destruction by means of explosion,” Tapper said on his show The Lead.
Several minutes later, Tapper’s own program aired photos of Brian Cole Jr., a black man.

Affordable Care Act subsidies have been granted, without the required documentation, to 90% of fictitious applicants over the last two years, according to a damning government watchdog report released Wednesday.
The Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) preliminary findings of ongoing and covert testing of Obamacare found “fraud risks” in the federal ACA marketplace, specifically related to the healthcare program’s advance premium tax credit – a subsidy Democrats shut down the government over last month in a failed effort to extend the tax credit for three more years.
“The federal Marketplace approved coverage for nearly all of GAO’s fictitious applicants in plan years 2024 and 2025,

A grand jury in Virginia on Thursday declined to indict New York Attorney General Letitia James on a new indictment related to allegations that she committed mortgage fraud. The decision comes after a federal judge dismissed the initial case against James last month, ruling that the federal prosecutor who brought the case was not lawfully appointed. The prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan, was appointed by Attorney General Pam Bondi.[snip]. The second attempt to indict James was presented to the grand jury in Norfolk, Virginia, by different prosecutors.

There's good news for Republicans on the congressional redistricting front Thursday evening, as the Supreme Court has now granted Texas' application to stay a divided three-judge district court panel ruling that enjoined the use of the newly drawn map.
Following the panel decision in mid-November, Texas appealed directly to the Supreme Court (as is permitted in redistricting cases), and the court swiftly issued an administrative (temporary) stay of the lower court decision. On Thursday, in a 6-3 ruling, the court formally stayed the panel decision pending its appeal on the merits. The practical effect of this

Nothing says “hope and change” quite like bulldozing a beloved public park for a 235-foot phallic tower dedicated to oneself. Welcome to the Obama Presidential Center (OPC), an $830 million (and rising) vanity project in Chicago’s historic Jackson Park. The man who once preached community organizing couldn’t find a single non-park site in his hometown for his monument. I get angry every time I see a story about this thing. It feels as if Obama is giving America a gigantic, double-barreled middle finger. House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ky.) is compelling former special counsel Jack Smith to testify behind closed doors about his criminal prosecutions of President Trump.
Jordan subpoenaed Smith Wednesday to have him testify at a deposition on December 17 and provide documents to the committee ahead of the interview.
“Due to your service as Special Counsel, the Committee believes that you possess information that is vital to its oversight of this matter,” Jordan said in a letter accompanying the subpoena.
The subpoena to have Smith testify privately comes after Smith requested a public hearing to dispel what he considers Republican misconceptions about his cases against Trump.
