I'm the same age and I remember seeing her on The Tonight Show, probably in the late '60s. She came across as the ditziest women you ever saw, yet a few years later I was amazed to see her in The Godfather where she played a serious role to perfection and went on to be a major star.

I guess I must have seen her in The Godfather, but don't remember her part at all. The only other thing that ever registered with me is that she seemed to run around with Woody Allen a lot, and I never thought much of Woody Allen.

It was but a chapter in her career, but count me among those who never saw any magic with the whole Woody Allen artistic scene of which she was a part. Nothing against her, though. RIP, Ms. Keaton.

She also stared with Richard Gere in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977). Weird how they don't mention that role in the article as I thought the movie was rather ahead of its time.

#9 posted my thoughts. What a lovely character she brought us opposite Steve Martin. Such a gentle, warm, and witty touch--and so lovely to look at. Ditto her co-starring with Jack N in "Something's Gotta Give". I know I'm hardly the only one who has repeatedly enjoyed her work in films like this. As for comments about "The Godfather", her portrayal of Kay was such an interesting counterpart/partner for Michael as the only woman from the outside in that closed world. Her role was especially pivotal in the "Coda", taking their relationship full circle despite all the horrors brought upon her by Michael choosing a path exactly opposite that which he promised her in their early days. I'd take a thousand Diane Keatons over the low-rent "stars" of today. RIP

She was good in "The Godfather," but for the life of me, I couldn't understand the character (Kay) she played. Michael Corleone is from a known Mafia family, is credibly accused of murdering a cop, leaves the country, disappears for years without out so much as a postcard to Kay. While in hiding, he marries a young Sicilian girl who is later murdered. Kay moves on, rebuilds her life, then suddenly Michael reappears, tracks her down and she just falls back into his arms and marries him without a second thought. I'd have told him, "thanks, but no thanks." There are worse things than being an old-maid school teacher. RIP Diane. You did good with an otherwise unrealistic role.

She was a big animal lover and came down to San Diego for many years to work the Helen Woodward Animal Center telethon on local tv. She came to see my parents’ Batchelder tile in their historic home about 20 years ago—she loved architecture and published books with her photographs, she also loved to design and flip. I got to meet her—very unassuming and sweet. She was lovely. She arrived in her friend’s tiny car—definitely not looking for attention. I love the Father of the Bride films and many others of hers, and of course, The Godfather. RIP.

Diane Keaton seemed like a person who would have been fun to be around, and she never seemed to take herself seriously, especially being such a big star. I loved her movies. I hope she didn't suffer at the end. Condolences to her family.

The Insidious Strategy Behind the Democrat-Led Shutdown 7 replies

The Democrat-led shutdown is nearing two weeks, and there's no end in sight. Despite a clear path to reopening the government, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his cohorts have chosen to filibuster a bipartisan clean constituting resolution that has been on the table since day one. And while they claim to be standing up for the little guy by pushing for an extension of temporary COVID-era Obamacare subsidies, there's a more insidious game afoot. Take a look at the following posts. What do you notice about them? [Tweets] Keep in mind that Democrats have long proclaimed the filibuster to be a racist relic

Regardless of political disagreements, sometimes one must give credit where due, which we've seen to some extent after news broke last Wednesday, when President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed off on the first phase of a peace plan that, among other things, would bring home the remaining surviving hostages. (Snip) When former Vice President Kamala Harris was asked the question over the weekend about whether Trump deserved credit, however, she gave a word-salady answer through gritted teeth, never mentioning Trump directly and instead saying, "I commend the people who have been a part of this process. I commend the Qataris, the Egyptians, and the president."

President Donald Trump went off script during his address to the Israeli Knesset, and everyone in the chamber went crazy when he called for a pardon for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking to the Knesset on Monday, Trump reflected on the historic Gaza-Israel peace deal after the return of the final 20 hostages, before he veered off topic and made a suggestion that made those in the room applaud and cheer. "Hey, I have an idea," Trump said. "Mr. President [Isaac Herzog], why don't you give him [Netanyahu, who Trump pointed to in the front row] a pardon?" And the hoots and hollers began.

More than two years after the Israel-Hamas war erupted following the terror group's brutal October 7, 2023, attack, President Trump declared that the “long and painful nightmare” for both Israelis and Palestinians “is finally over.” Earlier in the day, Hamas released the last remaining 20 living hostages, though the group is reportedly slow walking the release of the 28 deceased hostages that were set to be returned Monday. Still, the mood across Israel was jubilant—none more so than among the families who welcomed their loved ones back from Hamas captivity. Many of the reunions went viral on social media.

Antony Blinken, Joe Biden’s former Secretary of State, tried to claim that the Biden administration deserved credit for the Israel-Hamas peace agreement, arguing that Donald Trump’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the groundwork that Biden’s team supposedly laid. That’s pure fantasy. Hamas surrendered because Trump backed it into a corner with decisive pressure, not because Biden’s diplomats pulled off some behind-the-scenes miracle. Hamas surrendered its last living hostages, giving up the only leverage it had left in this mess they started two years ago. This wasn't some breakthrough negotiation. It was a complete capitulation,

Joe Biden's post-presidency has been rough, to put it mildly. Nearly nine months after Donald Trump reclaimed the White House, Biden is holed up in Wilmington, Delaware, grappling with a reality that must feel like political exile. He's dealing not just with the sting of losing power, but also the inability to sell access and enrich his family. Though he won’t admit to the latter. The irony couldn’t be thicker. After years of attacking Trump and using the Justice Department in a desperate bid to put his successor behind bars, Biden now finds himself being told by his own advisers to stay quiet and act like a traditional ex-president.

Democrats spent years insisting that providing free healthcare to illegal immigrants was a moral imperative. They haven’t exactly kept that a secret. During the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, every single candidate promised their healthcare plans would cover healthcare for illegals. Now, though, they've shut down the federal government to protect funding streams for these programs—but are pretending that’s not what they are after. Nevertheless, we know what their objectives are. But their crusade to give free healthcare to illegals has hit a bit of a snag. Faced with exploding costs and healthcare systems on the brink of collapse, blue state governors are quietly pulling the plug on their own sacred cow.

Democrats shut down the government partly to force Republicans to extend COVID-era boosts in Obamacare subsidies that Dems once called “temporary” but now say are needed to keep the program viable. This reveals what a true disaster Obamacare has been, as its critics warned even as Dems were ramming it into law with not a single Republican vote in 2010. Blindly tossing fresh trillions down that hole is nuts: Time to fix it — or scrap it altogether. The 10-year cost of Dems’ current demand totals almost a half-trillion dollars, to benefit primarily insurers and wealthier Americans. As the second term admin has been more aggressive about pursuing Supreme Court interventions, federal district judges are issuing frivolous rulings intended to barrage SCOTUS with a constant need to intervene. And that’s followed by complaints to the media that the Supreme Court is seizing too much power and undermining the judiciary.
