Color me shocked. After more than a decade of breathless cheerleading for the so-called Affordable Care Act, the editorial elites at The Washington Post have finally admitted what conservatives have been saying all along: Obamacare was never affordable. As the Post’s own editorial board now concedes, the law “was never actually affordable.” This sudden burst of honesty comes amid the latest government shutdown showdown, which Democrats sparked in part by demanding yet another blank check to keep Biden’s lavish, COVID-era insurance subsidies alive.

The Obama program should be dismantled/revoked. The plans they said we could keep will become affordable again.

I was planning on retiring in the fall of 2013, when this horror show was coming along. I tried to get a quote from my health unsuror. BC&BS in July. They told me 'we can't quote, the rules are still changing'. I got the same answer several times in August, again in September. I needed health care for three years to bridge to Medicare after retirement. Finally, in mid October they gave me a quotation of $1900/ month for the two of us. That's $22,800 per year!! I had been paying $165 per month thru my job. I looked at COBRA, and it was within $50 of the same cost, unaffordable. We were healthy, considered going without insurance. I called up BC&BS, the same agent I had discussed this with half a dozen times, in early November - with the deadline to be forced into Obamacare being the end of November, I think. I told her on the phone that we couldn't afford to pay $1900 a month so we were going to go without insurance and take our chances. She was shocked, said "you can't do that" and I said that we were being forced into it. Suddenly....she said "Well, there is another option....but we can't guarantee that you'll be able to keep it more than a year." She offered a "non-compliant plan" for $600 a month. I took it. We used this perfectly adequate plan for a total of $7200 per year instead of $22,800 per year. And the next year, we kept it, and Obamacare went up by 25%, to $28,500. The following year Obamacare increased again to $36,000 per year. Our $7200 per year plan jumped up to $8000 per year. We were saving $28,000 per year on health care by not being in Obamacare, and we had perfectly adequate health care coverage. I had several eye surgeries that year, no problems. Obamacare has always been HORRIBLE and a RIP OFF. I am so glad that I finally managed to get the BC&BS sales person to let me escape their trap. Only when she saw that we were going to 'get away' did she offer the alternative. And, yes, we kept it until Medicare started, three years. I had to delay retirement, so I double paid, $600 for the private insurance and the company insurance, too, for several months. No big deal compared to the alternative. Obamacare is evil, like it's namesake.

Would love to see a reported interview Obama and ask him how it feels to have destroyed the world's best healthcare system for political gain.

Tell me about it. Before obamacare, health insurance for both myself and my wife was 35 bucks a month. Not each, both. After obamacare insurance on just my wife went to 350 a month.

Azerbaijan, Armenia, Nakhchivan, and Syunik are not names most Americans are familiar with. However, the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) Corridor through these countries, cities, and regions is a decisive strategic move in the Caucasus and Central Asia against three U.S. adversaries at once: China, Russia and Iran. The TRIPP will link the city of Kars in Turkey to the port city of Baku in Azerbaijan. Baku is the most important port in the Caspian Sea, an inland sea connecting Azerbaijan directly to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Together, these countries have proven oil reserves of 37 billion barrels

That is, of course, a ridiculous idea, but you know how it differs from the nonsense the Dems keep trying to sell us? The difference is that I don’t mean it. I am not actually going to form a hip-hop group with some of my retired officer friends that we will call the Phat Generalzzz, though if I did, I would call dibs on being the human beatbox. But the Dems are serious about the ridiculous stuff

It’s been a good week for internet karma. Michael Mann, the promoter of the climate science “hockey stick”, who was ordered to pay $1 million in damages last year for his bogus lawsuits against critics, has now been forced out of his cushy job at Penn State. It seems he could not help posting stupid, hateful things about Charlie Kirk. The long arm of intellectual justice also caught up with celebrity scientist Neil DeGrasse Tyson, as well. It seems that the decades of fabrications and hoaxes this guy has promoted finally got noticed and he and Wikipedia are furiously deleting all the garbage he has produced over the years.

Can anyone dismantle the administrative state?Only one president has had both the desire and opportunity to crush and disable the administrative state, but more importantly, end the Marxist dialectic that has infected and subsumed this nation and post-modern Western civilization. Nixon wished to shrink the federal bureaucracy, but enemies inside the government would never allow him the opportunity, while Nixon himself, at the same time, enlarged the administrative state by creating the EPA.

As we watch the drama with James Comey developing, I can’t help but draw from a historical perspective. I see Comey as comparable to Mark Felt. I can recall when the leftist press was making Felt (AKA Deep Throat) out to be some kind of hero. What did Mark Felt do? He leaked info that eventually brought down Richard Nixon’s presidency. I commented on the whole Watergate deal and the praise that Felt was getting back in June of 2005: "Imagine with me the howling, had this (leaking) occurred with a Democrat, instead of Nixon."

Forget the polished resume; Schiff is a fraudster extraordinaire, guilty of orchestrating the Russia collusion hoax

Hillary, were you drunk when you said this? Who thought a) this was a good idea, and b) you would have any credibility with American voters. The former first lady and two-time presidential loser had another deplorables moment. These people cannot help themselves; it’s pathetic. While speaking with co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe," Mrs. Clinton said we need to stop demonizing each other. Oh, but wait—she claimed that most of that in our history comes from the Right, “coming from people who want to dominate.”

President Donald Trump canceled a meeting with top Democrats on Tuesday, arguing that Republicans could not agree to their “unserious and ridiculous demands” to fund the government eight days away from a likely partial shutdown. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sent a joint letter to Trump on Saturday requesting a meeting to discuss funding the government ahead of the Sept. 30 deadline. Trump cast doubt on whether he would be able to agree to Democrats’ demands for policy concessions in exchange for their votes on funding the government, but indicated that a meeting with party leaders could still happen.

It’s not just ideas that have consequences. Words have consequences, too. Henry II is said to have made the famous remark above in 1170, which prompted four knights to travel to Canterbury and slay Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Many centuries later, Mark Twain remarked, “The past does not repeat itself, but it rhymes”—a bit of an allegorical mystery, at which Twain was a master. So we look for a pattern. It is worth examining a plethora of quotes from today’s politicians that echo Henry the Second’s remark, and hardly allegorically. Today, Charlie Kirk is just as dead as Thomas Becket.

Barack Obama is such a soulless fraud. He’s spent the last week trying to downplay the significance of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. First, he pretended that the motive behind Charlie’s murder was impossible to ascertain. Then he blamed President Trump for welcoming “extremism” into the White House. Finally, he insinuated that Charlie was a racist and at least partially responsible for his own death. As always, America’s foremost “divider in chief” excels at rubbing salt in gaping wounds. The Soros network of NGOs must have recently sent out marching orders instructing Democrats to speak favorably of Obama’s presidency because every prominent Donkey Party politician has tried to rewrite Obama’s divisive reign

The most destructive inferno in Los Angeles history, which charred a devastating path through Pacific Palisades and Malibu in early January, was a rekindling fire that an Uber driver intentionally set days earlier near a popular hiking area, federal investigators alleged. Authorities on Wednesday also announced the arrest of 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht, who is suspected of setting the initial fire on New Year’s Eve. Rinderknecht, of Florida, was charged with maliciously starting what eventually became the Palisades fire. Among the evidence that was collected from his digital devices was an image he generated on ChatGPT depicting a burning city, said U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.

Several high-profile antifa leaders have fled the country or are actively making plans to abscond overseas. News of their escape comes after President Donald Trump designated antifa as a domestic terrorist threat and directed federal authorities to dismantle terrorism networks operating within the United States. Mark Bray, a financier of transnational antifa operations and antifa’s foremost thought leader in America, announced he is fleeing to Europe, settling in Spain specifically, under the pretext of safety concerns following negative media attention. Before his departure, Bray issued an apparent call-to-action, urging widespread militancy. “Only mass antifascism, legal or not, can save us,” Bray declared on Bluesky, a popular platform on the political Left.

Judge Immergut issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and blasted President Trump’s decision to deploy troops. The TRO will expire on October 18.
