University presidents aren’t Donald Trump

Original Article

Former Secretary of Education, Senator and university president, Lamar Alexander, declared in the Wall Street Journal that “Donald Trump Isn’t a University President.” The old-school political insider and prior university administrator, goes on to criticize President Trump’s “Compact for Higher Education,” which would establish a national board of trustees for the 6,000 universities and colleges across the United States. Mr. Alexander tells readers that this will have the apparently distasteful consequence of establishing admissions guidelines, managing university costs, creating testing standards for faculty competence and hiring, and setting criteria for international student admissions. He asserts that this is an example of federal overreach.

The universities have brought this on themselves with their irresponsible behavior over the last 50 years. They have shifted sharply to the left and have crossed over to insane. It's long past time they were brought to heel.

If they take tax payer money then they should expect to tax payer oversight. When the stick out their greedy mitts taking $$$b of tax payer money we have a say in matters. The bigger question is why are our elected representatives handing out $$$b of our money to the likes of these now fairly worthless institutions. Harvard as $$$b of their own money why do they need our money. Either they have a product people are willing to pay for or the wither on the vine. Sounds fair to me. If the dollars of ours are for research , okay, but again it's our money. The quality of education has the glide path of a rock, I don't think the handouts are worth the price.

I'm guessing that every US Senator, and a lot of US Representatives, entertain the thought of being the President, at some point in their careers. I sure Lamar was one of them, but we all know he never accomplished that goal! Now we know why.

Lamar inadvertently came up with great suggestions. How about adding merit-based admissions and ending the free ride for dumb jocks, which other students subsidize?

Barack Obama really should follow the lead of old-time presidents and, instead of seeking the limelight, opt for a rocking chair on his front porch. In that way, he could spare himself the embarrassment of saying really stupid things. During a podcast with Marc Maron, Obama made a comment about using the National Guard that was meant to attack Trump, but merely made Obama look ignorant and partisan. Before even getting to the substance of what Obama said, what’s notable about the interview is how Obama looks. He’s wound up as tightly as an angry suburban leftist woman explaining to her psychiatrist why her husband was completely wrong

Like the fictional Captain Ahab in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, New York Attorney General Letitia James had one overriding goal: to destroy the great white creature known as President Donald Trump. And like Ahab, she thought at one point she had succeeded. But if James had been better read, she might have known that she was going to destroy herself and her ship, while “Moby” Trump happily swam off into the sunset. Letitia James ran to become New York State’s attorney general on a single issue: she would destroy Donald Trump.

Color me shocked. After more than a decade of breathless cheerleading for the so-called Affordable Care Act, the editorial elites at The Washington Post have finally admitted what conservatives have been saying all along: Obamacare was never affordable. As the Post’s own editorial board now concedes, the law “was never actually affordable.” This sudden burst of honesty comes amid the latest government shutdown showdown, which Democrats sparked in part by demanding yet another blank check to keep Biden’s lavish, COVID-era insurance subsidies alive.

However, the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) Corridor through these countries, cities, and regions is a decisive strategic move in the Caucasus and Central Asia against three U.S. adversaries at once: China, Russia and Iran. The TRIPP will link the city of Kars in Turkey to the port city of Baku in Azerbaijan. Baku is the most important port in the Caspian Sea, an inland sea connecting Azerbaijan directly to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Together, these countries have proven oil reserves of 37 billion barrels

Is Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) going to retire? Townhall has been hearing whispers from some senior Democratic sources that the longtime New York Senator could be retiring from public life for numerous reasons, not least being that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) could make good on her move to primary him. Now, AOC venturing outside the state could be an early move to consolidate her national constituency for a 2028 presidential run, which she could do, but she has options. And this seat is gettable for her: Schumer is not well-liked among Democratic voters, and his fundraising has been abysmal.

After a U.S.-led campaign, the United Nations has postponed a vote on a proposal to impose the world’s first global carbon tax on shipping, delaying the decision by one year. The rule was expected to come up for a vote this week as part of the U.N. International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) "Net-Zero Framework." But a majority of member nations voted to defer it after failing to reach consensus amid U.S. opposition. Backed by the European Union and Brazil, the plan seeks to raise billions from carriers that exceed new emissions limits, channeling the revenue toward climate adaptation and clean-fuel projects in developing nations. Washington and Riyadh led the opposition.

Hamas defended the gruesome public executions it carried out against Palestinians earlier this week as the terrorist group says it has no plans to lay down its arms — throwing a massive wrench into the already tense peace negotiations with Israel. Hamas politburo member Mohammed Nazzal told Reuters that “exceptional measures” had to be taken when it carried out public killings in Gaza on Monday, which drew widespread criticism for their extreme violence. He claimed that those executed were criminals guilty of murder. Nazzal also refused to commit to Hamas disarming itself, which Israel has demanded as part of a peace deal.

A notoriously violent two-block stretch of Brooklyn is fighting crime — by keeping uniformed cops away, The Post has learned. NYPD officials agreed to turn a sliver of Brownsville in the NYPD’s 73rd Precinct into a “police free zone” last week as part of an city-funded experiment called the Brownsville Safety Alliance that initially was only twice a year but now runs four times annually. And it’s an initiative that’s received praise from anti-cop, mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, an official with the group that runs it told The Post.
