A majority of registered voters believe that Republicans will win the shutdown fight, a survey from Harvard-Harris found.
The survey asked respondents, “Who do you think will win the government shutdown — the Democrats or the Republicans?”
Across the board, 62 percent said Republicans will win the shutdown fight, while just 38 percent expressed confidence that Democrats will emerge victorious.
Republicans are overwhelmingly confident that they will win — 92 percent — and most independents, 62 percent, also believe Republicans will emerge as the victors.
However, 70 percent of Democrats believe they will win the shutdown battle

I am becoming more optimistic about the mid terms in 2026

We should now have a moment of silence for Chuck Schumer's career. RIP.

I hope this seals Schumer's political fate! As far as his party goes, they are on the WRONG side of everything! They truly are jackasses!

What is amazing to me is not that 62% think Republicans will "win" the shutdown but that 38% of people are so delusional that they think the dems will win. Since Trump was elected, have the dems shown competence at ANYTHING? Every effort they make just pushes them further into the incompetent losers box.
If anything, it is a shock to see, over and over, how grossly inept dems and their allies are. As you watch the liberal media in continual embarrassment and collapse mode, don't you wonder how these guys can figure out how to get dressed in the morning. Can you believe that Dr. Evil (BO) left all the evidence laying around about how they had been illegally spying on Americans and how they framed Trump; all to the point that a good chunk of BO's team is up for investigation and likely trial? For that matter, that the Lightbringer is a neutered embarrassment to his party that comes out into public, says something monumentally stupid, and crawls back into one of his expensive homes that he never should have been able to afford.
Beyond all this, the Republicans don't have to DO anything to win and the "shutdown" favors their policies. Trump can permanently fire people that he has been restricted from eliminating because of red tape. Funding and programs can be trashed.
Meanwhile dems have to support a laundry list of special interest activities in foreign countries that probably are actually being used as dem slush fund sources. That is the hill they want to die on? 38 percent of those surveyed think they have a winning cause?
Here's the simple reality. 38% of those surveyed HATE Trump and feel that ANYTHING he is associated with is SO tainted that other people will eventually realize how awful he is. This 38% is so mentally ill with their psychoses and paranoia that they MUST believe they are right and WILL win eventually.
The actual issue at hand doesn't matter. If Trump was involved with giving everyone a puppy, this 38% would be vehemently against it.

We have won it already. In a couple of weeks the paychecks of many government "workers" will cease and they will be begging Schmuckie and Hakeem to come to their senses. They attempted blackmail and it failed because they ran up against a stone wall named Trump, time to replace them and move on.

As soon as I see "poll" I stop paying attention. If a poll says elephants fly, does that give them wings? Probably not. Polls ask questions of people, and people are idiots. It doesn't matter what they think.

The Democrats don’t have a chance in hell of winning this and they know it. This is a very pathetic attempt to create political theater for their moronic socialist voters to make them feel better. Schumer should just resign and let someone else take on AOC for his Senate seat.

I think most people don't give a rip unless their personal life gets messed up. Our mailman put up a sign reminding us that mail is still being delivered because people's mailboxes were stuffed and overflowing and he couldn't do his job. Nothing has changed since the sign went up except some neighbor put a garbage bag out there which remains mostly empty because nobody wants to be accused of tampering with someone else's mail--including the post person.
The government shutdown has lost its significance, at least in my little corner of the world. It's like the boy who cried wolf. Too many times, sorry I can't hear you now.

There's too much win/lose competition in this. Republican vs. Democrat be damned! The American public needs to 'win!'

#9 is correct.
I would feel a lot better about our odds if the Republicans weren't so darn good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. There are always a few that have to have their perfect scenario or they will vote with the Dims.

Of course, here in the DC/Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area, the local news is hyping the suffering furloughed federal employees - going without a paycheck.
Also, in this area on talk radio - there's an ad from the air traffic controllers union, NATCA, airing about how stressful it is for ATCs to work without a paycheck or working longer than normal hours. Puhlease. The dirty little secret about chronically understaffed ATC facilities and towers (like Philadelphia and Newark) is that NATCA (and the ATCs themselves) purposefully encourages the understaffing because the ATCs make so much money in working overtime. You can search online for recent articles in the NY Times about this phenomena.

"However, 70 percent of Democrats believe they will win the shutdown battle..."
And when they DON'T win it, more "we have to do something!", more "rage" will ensue.
Be prepared.

IMHO shutting down the federal government is not a very good way to fight President Trump.
I blame Disney. Because they have locked Song of the South up in a vault never to be seen again, a generation of democrats have never heard the story of Br'er Rabbit and the briar patch. "Oh please don't throw me in the briar patch!"
"Oh please don't shut down the federal government!"
