Orange Strawman Bad. The New York Times opinion pages, today: By ordering 800 National Guard troops to Washington, on the pretext of an illusory crime wave, President Trump has further dragged the U.S. military into domestic law enforcement, in a move credibly perceived as an ominous “test case.” (Snip) OH GOD TRUMP IS SENDING THE NATIONAL GUARD INTO WASHINGTON D.C., NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE. It’s been four years, dorks. Nobody forgot. Of course it has happened before, in the federal district of Washington D.C. and elsewhere. The Watts Riots ended with 14,000 National Guard troops on the streets of Los Angeles. You can find example after example

Comments:

There was a time, long ago, when both the Democrat party and the New York Times could put together a rational couple of sentences.

The Left counts on the short memories of most people and they are usually not disappointed. I'm still trying to forget the Obama years but they just won't go away. Barry and the Mooch left a mark on the country and it was not a good one.

Ike sent troops to Little Rock to enforce integration lo these many years ago. A lot of talk then about states rights but eventually the feds prevailed. They locked up the J6ers for what they called an insurrection and even killed a harmless woman. That was greatly cheered by the media. Nothing new. That argument ended in 1865. Of course, anything Trump does is Hitler come back from the dead even to save lives and property.

They forget Kent State where the precedent to never allow National Guard troops to have ammunition when called up for these actions was made.

Another 80/20 issue the DemoRoids are on the wrong side of. They've got to be insane, because if you keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results is a definition of insanity. I guess that's why they call it Trump Derangement Syndrome.

If we break this down its easier to figure out. The district has been overrun with violent predators who do not fear the law. Innocent people live there and are frequent victims. The police and courts are unwilling or unable to have an effect. The honest citizens have been disarmed by their own government. Not many options left.

So let me get this straight: Sending National Guard troops to DC to protect innocent citizens = BAD Sending National Guard troops to surround the capital and protect the government after they pulled off a coup = GOOD Got it!

Once again, the NY Times is spouting garbage. Trump doesn't worry me. It's what will eventually come to power after him. That being said, a number of precedents have been set under Trump, Bidem, and Obama. All that needs to happen is a corrupt dictator to come along to take advantage of them. Guessing Washington will have another January 6 event, and the next crackdown will be much harsher. Washington may well have their own version of Tiananmen Square in the future. Can't happen here? Don't bet on it.

“A Small European Nation Has a Big Explosions Problem,” a New York Times story recently reported. The story clarified that the small nation was the Netherlands, it never did clarify who was behind the over 700 bombings so far this year.Saying it out loud would have been impolite. European nations, small and great, have all sorts of mysterious unexplained problems that they never used to before. The Netherlands has a rash of bombings. In the UK, acid attacks are up 75%.Much like the bombings in the Netherlands, none of the news stories clarify why a phenomenon associated with a whole other part of the world had migrated to the UK.

President Joe Biden allied his Department of Agriculture with liberal activist groups to register Americans to vote and staff polling locations, potentially in violation of federal law, according to a memo shared with the Daily Caller. The practice has since been undone by President Donald Trump, who directed his administration to conduct a review of the Biden administration’s federal get-out-the-vote programs. Biden signed an executive order in March 2021, rescinded by Trump in March 2025, which required federal agencies to register and mobilize voters. Under Biden’s order, the USDA partnered with the American Civil Liberties Union and Dēmos, a left-wing public policy advocacy group, to implement the president’s plan,

In recent years, I’ve sometimes invoked Rudyard Kipling’s The Gods of the Copybook Headings, usually when something goes wrong because people did something obviously stupid. Well, to be fair, that’s the main subject of the poem: how being entranced by popular but dumb ideas leads to destruction. But there’s another side to it. When you do things that are simple and obvious — and, often, traditional — you can do pretty well. And we’re seeing that illustrated, at home and abroad. At home, the allegedly insoluble illegal immigration problem is being solved, via the simple and obvious, and traditional, approach of policing the borders and deporting people who are here illegally.

Herman Cain lives! The late great Republican Tea Party leader, CEO, and former chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve was derided in his 2012 presidential campaign for his "Chilean Model" proposed during a debate -- a plan to replace the failing Social Security system with private accounts, as had been done in Chile in the 1970s. In reality, he had an enduringly good idea that would have saved the rapidly depleting U.S. Social Security system just as it saved Chile's, and made every saver in the U.S. richer. But the left demonized it without a hearing, (Snip) Now President Trump has picked up the torch.

In all the hoopla about the One Big Beautiful Bill, one provision went completely overlooked—but that provision is now primed to usher in the rebirth of the great American car. Back in 1975, in a panic over the Arab oil embargo and phony predictions that the world was running out of oil, Congress passed the Energy Policy and Conservation Act. That bill gave government bureaucrats the power to set “corporate average fuel economy” standards for cars sold in the U.S. Under the rule, if all the cars sold by an automaker in a given year failed to meet the government’s miles per gallon target, the company would pay massive fines.

Last year, California scientists sparked outrage with a botched test on an old aircraft carrier, spraying saltwater to create artificial clouds and block sunlight. The tiny Alameda trial lasted just 20 minutes before furious city officials yanked the plug, slamming the team for zero advance notice. The team responsible were involved with the Marine Cloud Brightening Program based in the University of Washington. Now documents exposed by Politico, through an open records request to the University of Washington, reveal they plotted a far bigger gamble: a multimillion-dollar ocean experiment covering an area larger than Puerto Rico, aimed at cooling the planet.

There’s a Democrat in Texas (yes, really!) who lost a race for senator, and then lost a race for governor. He’s a designated loser. His name is Robert but he has a nickname.
