After weeks of negotiations, the Senate has passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—a ten-year fiscal package which would serve as the vehicle for fulfilling President Donald Trump’s campaign promises on tax cuts and border security. Despite intra-party debates on overall deficit levels, healthcare reform and how to undo President Joe Biden’s environmental policies, Republicans were ultimately able to find a consensus under the leadership of newly-minted Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D. The bill, which has passed by a margin of 51-50 in the Senate with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote, will now go to the House of Representatives,

Collins, Tillis, and Paul voted against it. Not a single 'Rat voted for it.

And gun owners screwed over again. Unless the House insists on putting the removal of suppressors from the NFA registry, we are stepped on again.
They talk a big "pro gun" line, but when it comes to actually DOING things......big middle finger to gun owners. We'll see if they bring it back in the reconciliation process, but I am doubtful, very doubtful.

If this bill fails it will trigger the biggest single tax increase in US history. Combined with (a possible) impact of tariffs the results could be catastrophic. The 'Rats are salivating at that prospect. It could be the only saving factor for them in '26. Regardless of their concerns, I am appalled that the Republicans against this bill don't realize that they are playing with fire.

"Voting against the final bill, alongside all 47 Democrats, were Republican Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Susan Collins of Maine."
Members of the RINO Hall Of Fame. Expect more sabotage from them in the future.

An additional RINO.......Lisa "Bridge to Nowhere" Murkowski........
July 1, 2025
"Collins and Murkowski were the only Republicans to support an amendment from Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington that sought to eliminate a provision that would prohibit Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid funding for health care services provided to low-income women. The amendment failed, 51-49."

This is just the first step - they have 2 other opportunities for future reconciliation bills.
This is the problem with Republicans, acting as if they'll never control Congress again so they feel the need to get everything they ever wanted in one bill.
Folks, until they return to General Order budgets and stop this nonsense of using the CR's (continuing resolutions - which have been continued since 2007 when George W. Bush was POTUS) they'll never be able to manage the spending.
It's why Harry Reid used the tactic - to not have any of his D Senators have to make a tough vote which could cost them the next election.

Wonder what happened to the promise to remove the income tax on Social Security payments?

Another "you'll have to pass the bill to find out what's in it" pig in a poke.

Re #6, since there hasn't been a regular budget passed in decades, it seems, might only be one and a half decades, I wonder if they will EVER go back to "normal" business.

Poster #6, maybe it shouldn't be called one big beautiful bill. Words have meaning. If the CR did nothing but keep the tax cuts without all the other junk thrown at us, we wouldn't complain. They throw in all this spending (trillion dollars for the military!) with minimal cuts, and we're supposed to think they'll do better next time? Come on! CRs hurt us more than they help, so excuse us if we don't like being hurt.

No bill is perfect. And, certainly, Elon Musk and Rand Paul have forgotten more about economics than I will ever know. But, the dims are looking for any kind of victory over President Trump. And the defeat of this bill would be a start for them. So I hope it passes.
