January 20 – A New Independence Day

Original Article

Posted By: 4250Luis, 1/15/2025 8:36:08 AM

Independence Day, observed annually on July 4, is a national holiday that honors the ratification of the Declaration of Independence. This pivotal document marked the founding of the United States of America and its liberation from British tyranny and oppression. In the mid-1990s, a song with the same title was awarded Country Music Song of the Year. Performed by Martina McBride, it celebrates a woman’s liberation from her abusive husband. What are the commonalities? Oppression and abuse. Is anyone else sensing a strong stench of these in America, what used to be a shining city on a hill?

It's going to be Victory in America Day II. People will be honking their horns, flying their flags, and smiling all day. Heck, if I see a parade and run into a nurse, I might even kiss her as I bend her gently at the waist and she holds onto her hat with one hand and pulls me closer with her other arm.

January 20, 2025 will be forever remembered as the day Trump took office, and the day the reprobate, and illegitimate criminal, Joe Biden, left office in disgrace, abandoned by everyone.

Big Move: Speaker Johnson Removes Mike

We start this discussion with a note of thanks to the ridiculous democrats and republicans for using the questioning session for AG nominee Pam Bondi, to out themselves on the issue of FISA-702, the unconstitutional surveillance of American citizens. While many will not see it, the timing here is not coincidental. At the behest of President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson has removed House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Chairman Mike Turner from his position. Mike Turner is no longer Chairman of HPSCI. This is a big loss for the Deep State. Remember also, that President Trump had previously announced an intelligence advisory board headed by Devin Nunes

The cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas is meant to be a first step, and we don’t know what happens next, or the promises that were made behind the scenes. It is possible that President-elect Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have agreed on this move merely as a tactical prelude to a set of far-reaching measures that will yet transform the Middle East. And, most importantly, the idea of dozens of Israelis — including toddlers — returning home after more than a year in purgatory is enough to dull even the most hawkish observer’s concerns.

Netanyahu’s office says cabinet won’t meet to approve ceasefire deal until Hamas backs down on 'last minute concessions' Israel’s security cabinet has delayed a planned meeting to approve a ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas in Gaza, with Benjamin Netanyahu’s office accusing Hamas of attempting to obtain ‘last minute concessions’ on some aspects of the deal. Reuters quotes Netanyahu’s office saying “Hamas reneges on parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an effort to extort last minute concessions. The Israeli cabinet will not convene until the mediators notify Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement.”

A former “Chicago Fire” actor and his neighbors jumped into action and detained a “flamethrower”-wielding Mexican national near the Kenneth Fire threatening the area during a dramatic citizen’s arrest last week. Brian J. White — who portrayed Capt. Dallas Patterson on the hit NBC show — was gearing up to flee his Woodland Hills home if the fire jumped from the neighboring West Hills neighborhood on Thursday when he heard shouting outside. “I hear screaming, ‘Put it down, put it down,’” White told Deadline of one of his neighbors confronting 33-year-old Juan Manuel Sierra-Leyva.

Gov. Kathy Hochul ducked any mention of a clamored-for ban on wearing masks in public during her State of the State Tuesday — a notable omission that drew condemnation from a potential election rival. Bronx Rep. Ritchie Torres, who’s eyeing a Democratic primary run against Hochul next year, noted Hochul didn’t mention “antisemitism” either during her speech or in a 140-page policy booklet for 2025. “Not one mention of ‘antisemitism’ in a 140-page document,” Torres said. “Not one mention of ‘antisemitism’ in an hour long speech.”

During the California leg of a year-long journey across America, I devoted a day to visiting two presidential libraries within a short distance of each other. I started that morning at the Richard Nixon Presidential Museum and Library and a few hours later proceeded to that of Ronald Reagan. Some months earlier I had also stopped at the Harry Truman Library and Museum in Missouri. Every president is actively encouraged to plan and construct an official repository of his documents from his time in office. The resulting library is more than the collection of the paperwork generated during his tenure, however.

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Trump’s choice for Defense secretary, on Tuesday emerged largely unscathed from an at times blistering confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Democratic lawmakers on the panel took aim at Hegseth’s lack of experience leading an agency as large and complex as the Pentagon, claims related to his treatment of women and excessive drinking, and his past comments on the role of women in the military. Multiple Democrats also expressed concerns that an FBI background check on Hegseth, an Army veteran, left out crucial details about major allegations levied against him. The report was viewed by the panel’s top two members on Friday.

Envy is an ugly thing -- one of the seven deadly sins. One reason for this success: The United States innovates while Europe regulates. Instead of fixing their economies, the European Union bureaucrats want to kneecap America's tech success stories with lawsuits and regulatory barbed wire fences to keep American firms from competing on a level playing field. Europeans have long been dripping with jealousy that American firms dominate the tech sector -- cellphones, search engines, social media platforms, artificial intelligence and robotics. Our "magnificent seven" tech companies -- including Google, Nvidia, Apple and Amazon -- saw massive stocks market gains in 2024. Meanwhile, Europe has flatlined.

Democrats’ hopes of defeating any of President-elect Trump’s Cabinet nominees appear to be fizzling as Senate committees prepare for the first week of hearings. Senate Democrats have yet to reveal more evidence to back up the allegations against Pete Hegseth, Trump’s pick to head the Pentagon, and a recently completed FBI background check isn’t moving the needle on that nominee.Only Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.), the ranking Democrat on the panel, have been able to review the report thus far, which hasn’t yet caused any serious political reverberations. Sen. Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, is facing a relentless smear campaign that ranges from the petty to the absurd. Chief among these efforts are allegations from a disgruntled former employee of Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), where Hegseth served as CEO—claims that lack credibility and have resurfaced years after her brief tenure. Meanwhile, critics have seized on other manufactured controversies, including Hegseth’s Christian tattoo, which has been assailed as extremist. This attack on his faith—and on traditional Christian imagery—reveals a deep hypocrisy, as such scrutiny would never be applied to other religious traditions. But these efforts to discredit Hegseth obscure the larger issue:

On Saturday, California Governor Gavin Newsom made the ill-conceived decision to appear in studio on Pod Save America, a podcast hosted by former Barack Obama staffers. It was a bizarre move to make while large parts of Los Angeles County are still burning. As I mentioned previously, he threw local officials under the bus while presenting himself as an innocent bystander amid a string of government failures. Apparently no one in charge cares more about containing the fires than making sure someone else gets blamed for it. But, even worse, the podcast hosts took the opportunity to solicit donations,

The issue of child grooming has been something conservatives have been sounding alarm bells over for years thanks in part to leftist legislators who think introducing LGBTQ propaganda to children as part of the school curriculum is a good thing, and to educators who eagerly go along with it. There has also been the rise of so-called "kid-friendly" drag queens, and hyper-sexualized content on Disney, with the latter's opposition to Florida's parental rights bill being one big flashpoint for the national debate on what was needed to be done to protect children - and the rights of their parents

A watchdog investigation into outgoing Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s hospitalization in 2024 found that his secretive hospital stay resulted in heightened national security risk, in part because Austin took medication with the potential to impair cognitive function while still in sole command of the Pentagon. The Pentagon’s inspector general interviewed 44 witnesses and reviewed 56 million pieces of data during a year-long investigation into three separate periods when Austin was hospitalized for medical procedures related to prostate cancer and kept the White House and top Defense officials in the dark about what was going on, prompting a political firestorm. The review concludes that Austin needlessly risked national security

Up to 280 million Americans will have a day or two where it’s colder than Anchorage, Alaska, said private meteorologist Ryan Maue. “This would be one of the coldest outbreaks certainly of the past 10 years, 15 years,” said winter weather expert
