Republican Sen. Rand Paul has hit out at the Democratic mayor of Denver for his plans to stop mass deportations of undocumented immigrants under President-elect Donald Trump. Mayor Mike Johnston has said that he plans to keep immigration officials out of the Colorado city, and warned that his planned resistance could compare to the infamous Tiananmen Square protests in China. 'You'd have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.' (snip)Now, if Johnston were to start a similar protest, Paul said he could be removed from office and could even face potential criminal charges.

Johnston needs to concentrate on getting the homeless off the streets of Denver. There's a serious housing crisis because of illegals and he needs to be working to get homeless AMERICANS under a roof. Why do Denver citizens insist on having a mayor who does nothing for Denver citizens? The increase in homelessness and violent crime over the last four year is ridiculous.

This is states rights issue that could become nasty. Somewhere there is common ground…does Mayor really want to keep criminals in his city? Does the fed really want to deport “everyone”? It’s time for some diplomacy, not hand grenades

It might be a state's rights issue but federal dollars are funding it. Stop the dollars and I guarantee the mayor will stand at the door and wave bye as they are rounded up and sent back home.

In other words Trump and his crew have announced that they intend to effectively enforce the federal immigration laws that have been constitutionally passed by the Congress and the leftist and progressive Democrats don’t like that. Anyone wonder why the Democrats have taken such an unlawful stance?

States rights? The precedent was set when the False Prophet was caught dumping illegals all around the country. When the governor of Arizona tried to prevent it she got a black finger pointed in her face on the tarmac and was told that immigration was not within her jurisdiction. So, if the federal government can introduce them then it can also remove them.

The job of the Federal Government is to protect our borders. That mayor isn't going to hold off the Army Reserves when they come calling to rout out those criminals and cut make up for lost Federal aid to cities funds.

I am in agreement with replyer 3. The Feds opened the border, and now the Feds are doling out cash (which they don’t have) to feed/clothe/shelter the waves of people who arrived (and those who profit from them). The feds have massive resources to bring to bear on city/states that do not toe the fed line. And yet..the issue here is that the feds want to fix a fed mistake by messing with a city. And I think it is not time to throw verbal hand grenades

President Joe Biden's administration is urging Ukraine to quickly increase the size of its military by drafting more troops and revamping its mobilization laws to allow for the conscription of those as young as 18. A senior Biden administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private consultations, said Wednesday that the outgoing Democratic administration wants Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 from the current age of 25 to expand the pool of fighting-age men available to help a badly outnumbered Ukraine in its nearly three-year-old war with Russia.

For the first time, officially communist Vietnam has taken delivery five T6-C Texan trainer aircraft from the US. Seven more are on order. According to a report in the Eurasia Times, this acquisition could put Vietnam in line to buy F-16 jets from the US, of which there have been reports since October last year. The Texan trainer is commonly used by the US Air Force to train pilots for advanced jets like the F-16. Vietnam has until now bought only Russian military hardware and its air force is known to deploy 35 SU-30 fighter jets and older Su-22s.

The division is targeting Nov. 30 as the date by which it will certify the results. There will be another tabulation completed then. Until that is completed, the results are unofficial, although unlikely to change.

Donald Trump’s thumping re-election threatens to upend the business of an industry he’s sworn to protect: Big Oil. Should his incoming administration follow through on plans to once again pull the United States out of the landmark 2015 Paris climate agreement—as a way to loosen regulations on fossil fuel companies—it could actually end up hurting companies like Exxon Mobil, according to the oil giant’s CEO. President-elect Donald Trump's promise to unleash a big oil boom in the US and lower gas prices is running up against a market reality: The world is already awash in fossil fuels. ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods told Semafor on November 12 that while he wants to maintain US oil production at its current highs, the market is already well supplied. The death of Yahya Sinwar, mastermind of the October 7, 2023, massacre and head of Hamas’s political bureau, marks a turning point in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israeli forces eliminated Sinwar, who had orchestrated Hamas’s insurgency in Gaza since his 2011 release from prison during the Gilad Shalit prisoner swap. Sinwar’s removal disrupts Hamas’s leadership and raises critical questions about the effectiveness of past ceasefire demands and concessions. Ceasefires aim to halt violence and open paths to dialogue. Yet militant groups like Hamas have exploited these pauses to regroup, rearm, and strengthen their positions.

Cable news network MSNBC claims it was blindsided to learn that a non-profit founded by longtime on-air personality the Rev. Al Sharpton received half a million dollars from Kamala Harris' campaign just before he interviewed her. The donations that flowed in just before the New York activist's conversation with Harris have brought up questions about the news outlet's credibility. The National Action Network, a civil rights non-profit that was founded by Sharpton in 1991, received $500,000 from the Harris campaign just weeks before the MSNBC host conducted a highly-anticipated sit-down with the Democrat. Campaign finance records from the 60-year-old's campaign reveal that two separate payments went to National Action Network.
