Sinwar’s Death Challenges the Logic
of Ceasefire Demands

The death of Yahya Sinwar, mastermind of the October 7, 2023, massacre and head of Hamas’s political bureau, marks a turning point in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israeli forces eliminated Sinwar, who had orchestrated Hamas’s insurgency in Gaza since his 2011 release from prison during the Gilad Shalit prisoner swap. Sinwar’s removal disrupts Hamas’s leadership and raises critical questions about the effectiveness of past ceasefire demands and concessions. Ceasefires aim to halt violence and open paths to dialogue. Yet militant groups like Hamas have exploited these pauses to regroup, rearm, and strengthen their positions.

Comments:

Financial enrichment is the main reason that foreign governments attempt to stalemate conflict and leave things simmering rather than win wars.

I keep losing track. Is this the fifth or sixth head of Hamas since last year who has, in the words of our late, great friend, Rush Limbaugh, has "assumed room temperature."? Will say this for Hamas. If you're a bright young guy, you can move up through the ranks pretty quick. But it's all on-the-job self training. And don't bother to ask about the retirement benefits.

Israel showed restraint and the result was the October 7 attack. Israel's response was absolutely required. As for Sinwar, he made his choice, and he got exactly what he deserved.

If the remaining Hamas leaders had half a brain, they would offer the hostages in return for a cease fire. That being said, I am no holding my breath. Their masters in Iran are willing to let them fight to the last Hamas.

Why give them time to reload? Keep the pressure on. That's when the terrorists get stupid.

CBS News' recent directive instructing staff to avoid referring to Jerusalem as part of Israel in reports has caused outrage in Israel and in the United States. The channel recently instructed its staff not to refer to Jerusalem as part of Israel, citing its internationally disputed status. This directive, aimed at "maintaining neutrality in covering the Gaza conflict," has sparked controversy among Jewish employees and Israeli officials, who argue that it undermines the U.S.'s official recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The centralized nations of Libya, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen have been torn to pieces. Irrespective of the failure of America and its partners concerning events in Iraq and Libya, the nations of Egypt, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and others have collectively funded various nations and proxies in endless wars (low intensity to high-level conflicts). On top of this, Iran utilizes Hezbollah in Lebanon aimed at Israel – and Islamic terrorist groups kill the Shia in the name of sectarianism (while also persecuting non-Muslim religious minorities). Accordingly, the Islamic facade aimed at Israel is a convenient tool to brush under the carpet

A U.N. tribunal has ordered a former high-ranking official to repay the United Nations $58.8 million lost in deals he made with a British businessman who showered him with interest-free loans, a Mercedes for his wife and perks for his sons. The three-judge United Nations Dispute Tribunal ruled that evidence “clearly and convincingly” shows that Vitaly Vanshelboim’s misconduct “caused massive financial losses” by the U.N. Office for Project Services, which says it provides infrastructure, procurement and project management services and is known as UNOPS. Vanshelboim facilitated multiple financial deals between the U.N. office and British businessman David Kendrick focusing on renewable energy, sustainable housing and the oceans.

The Israel Land Authority on Thursday announced the takeover of the headquarters in Jerusalem of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which will be replaced with 1,440 housing units. The 8.89-acre UNRWA compound in the Ma’alot Dafna neighborhood of Jerusalem has been declared illegal following an inquiry by Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf to the CEO of the land authority and the prime minister’s office. It turns out the UN agency owes more than $7 million in rent for the space.

A recent report from the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University, led by Dr. George Barna, has revealed a significant decline in voter turnout enthusiasm among religious voters for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. With Donald Trump and Kamala Harris vying for the presidency, the study suggests that approximately 104 million people of faith, including 32 million self-identified Christians who regularly attend church, may abstain from voting this November. The report, cited by The New American and CatholicVote, finds that only 51% of "people of faith"—a group encompassing Christians, Muslims, Jews, Mormons, and other religious traditions—are planning to vote. This signals a potentially large drop in voting participation

Hashem Safi Al-Din, who is the presumed successor of former Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, was reportedly killed along with other senior officials in an Israeli strike in southern Beirut on Friday, an unnamed official told Sky News Arabia. Additionally, several high-ranking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officers were in the same location when the airstrike hit. One of them is believed to be Ismail Qaani, a Brigadier General in the IRGC and commander of its Quds Force. A Lebanese security source told Sky News that the chances of anyone surviving the targeted strike were “almost zero.” The Saudi news organization Al-Hadath had previously reported that Safieddine was dead on Saturday morning.

Hassan Nasrallah's son-in-law, Hassan Jafar Qassir, may have been killed in airstrikes in the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus on Wednesday, according to early reports published by Sky News Arabic. Hassan is the brother of Muhammad Jafar Qassir, who was killed in a strike in Beirut on Wednesday during the Iranian attack on Israel. Hassan's assassination is another severe blow to Hezbollah as its leadership has been slowly picked off in Israeli operations. Muhammed became a leading figure in the deliveries of Iranian weapons from Syria, and Hassan married Hassan Nasrallah's daughter, cementing their connection to Hezbollah and Iran.

The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that it is further reinforcing the Middle East defense posture by deploying three additional U.S. Air Force squadrons and ordering the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to remain in the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operations. The measures are meant to deter aggression and mitigate the risk of a broader regional conflict, said the Pentagon, as the already high tensions in the area have heightened even more following Israel’s targeted assassination of terror group Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon.

However, Tehran is limited in how it can retaliate, a regional expert has told Newsweek. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday it had killed in an airstrike Ahmed Muhammad Fahd, the head of a Hamas network in southern Syria. The IDF then added that Nasrallah was "eliminated" in an airstrike in Dahiyeh, south of Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday. IRGC Brigadier General Abbas Nilforooshan was also killed in the attacks on Beirut. Khamenei has been transferred to a secure location inside Iran,

Texas and 16 other states sued the Biden administration, accusing it of attempting to unlawfully rewrite a federal disability law to include “gender dysphoria” in a newly approved rule. The lawsuit was filed on September 26 against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the charge that its rule “upends decades of established federal disability law” by redefining “gender dysphoria” as a disability under the Americans With Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The ADA defines disability as “physical or mental impairment that constitutes or results in a substantial impediment to employment.” The HHS issued a rule that states gender dysphoria “may be a disability.”

Friday evening in the Levant, Israel targeted buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut killing Hezbollah General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah. This operation represents a dramatic shift in Israeli strategy. Not only have they finally liquidated an adversary they’ve long been capable of killing, they’ve also turned a deaf ear to their superpower patron of more than half a century. But at this stage, heeding Washington’s advice in war is like taking counsel from the angel of death. Just as the U.S. is no longer willing or able to win the wars it commits Americans to fight, the Joe Biden administration won’t let U.S.allies win wars either.

Do we want to be set into arguments with each other that we can’t agree on solving our problems? She is qualified to bring our country together and he is not.”

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris angrily dodged questions on border policy, Iran and President Biden’s fitness for office in an contentious interview with Fox News host Bret Baier — as more polls showed her losing the initiative in the race for the White House. The 26-minute interview with the Democratic nominee kicked off with a tense grilling by Baier on immigration policy — with Harris repeatedly refusing to say that terminating former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy was a mistake. Baier’s first question schooled Harris about the effects of the current administration’s more permissive policies, which allow many illegal border-crossers to await asylum rulings inside the US, before asking

What happened Wednesday night to Kamala Harris on Fox News may have been the equivalent to what happened to President Joe Biden at that infamous debate in June — irreparably exposed her as unacceptable to voters. Remarkably, she offered nothing new in terms of her weak, often confusing answers to obvious questions, but she did finally face probing lines of inquiry and necessary follow-up

The rules, passed last month in a 3-2 vote by the Republican majority on the elections board, had received much attention.

He's just so good at it; he's calm, doesn't get agitated or angry, just calmly and methodically takes the questioner apart. He's an up-and-comer, and Florida is lucky to have him. And, as we might expect, a questioner attempted to trip up the governor with a "gotcha" on climate change. Ron DeSantis wasn't having any of it. The questioner's attempted "gotcha" was, "When will the words 'Climate Change' come out of your mouth?"
