On Friday, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that votes cast for a pro-ranked-choice voting constitutional amendment in the 2024 election will count — even though nearly 38,000 signatures supporting the amendment proposal were duplicates.
In its decision, the Grand Canyon State’s high court rejected a challenge seeking to have votes cast for Proposition 140 voided after a lower court special master disclosed that 37,657 pairs of signatures gathered in support of the measure were duplicates. As previously argued by the Arizona Free Enterprise Club (AZFEC), the finding “place[s] Proposition 140 thousands of signatures under the constitutionally required signature threshold to qualify for the [November] ballot.”

Disgusting. All those damned snowbirds that migrated from the East Coast, bringing their liberal corrupt politics with them.

Too bad the AZ legislature doesn't have the balls to impeach the entire AZ SC.

Pretty sad when your own Supreme Court is corrupt, which is becoming more and more the case in blue states.

Arizona should be ejected from the Union. Let them fend for themselves, mired in mendacity and slimy sleaze. I had always thought they were the "old west", but they're actually worse than France.

How many duplicate or phony signatures will be counted to pass prop 140? Or to pass prop 139?
Or to elect Harris? Or Reuben Gallego?
The AZ Supreme Court has publicly stated that elections in Arizona are pointless.

I still think that Ranked Choice voting infringes on the voting rights of the people who vote for the leading candidates. If you vote for the first eliminated candidate, you basically get a second vote at the race. But I having voted for one of the two leaders does not get a second vote.
And if I think that the other candidates besides my choice shouldn't be elected dog catcher in an uncontested election, I shouldn't be penalized for my opinion

Ranked choice voting is another Democrat initiative to keep Republicans off the ballot. It follows the Democrat success is removing party affiliation from municipal elections, so all the candidates are Democrat. That Democrat success followed the Democrat success in drawing all the legislative districts. I have no idea what the Republican Party does.

At what point do a state’s highest court’s partisan rulings violate fundamental due process and equal protection Constitutional guarantees?

I'm afraid Nevada will be voting in ranked choice too, thanks to the "independents" who have been whining because they don't get a vote in the primaries. This is what happens when Democrats take over and rule. We'll probably also have a super majority in our state legislature, so our Republican governor won't be able to do anything.

Unfortunately this trend is headed to Idaho. I guess when you can't win legitimately, you figure out a way to legally cheat.

Doesn't the U.S. Constitution specifically prescribe that state legislatures control the manner in which elections are held?
How can a judicial branch overrule a legislative branch when it comes to elections? This is clearly unconstitutional - - and where is the U.S. Supreme Court while all this is happening?

Big mistake. Unfortunately, it is complicated. It's sold to the voters as an "automatic" runoff (to reduce the cost in time and money of a runoff - and often results in more than one runoff) which enables minorities to maneuver the second or even third ranked voters first choice to get elected. Best example is Alaska, which would never elect a 'RINO' as Senator, has now had one for several years. It's a very slick piece of chicanery.
