One of my great peeves of the Trump era is the Greenland effect. I belong to a small group of people who think America should peacefully acquire Greenland. It’s an old idea. The State Department pitched buying the vast arctic island in 1946, but the Danes didn’t want to sell their colony, alas. But given its strategic and economic value, it’s worth revisiting.

Comments:

I think the 'backlash' to Vance is overblown-- the usual Lefty attempt to convert a nothing-burger comment into hysteria. But we shall see,,,

Jonah, you 'taint got no good ideas. Or rather, the 'Never Trumpers' only have ideas. Putting them into practice is just too messy and 'might make our betters mad at us' - so they just have their ideas and tut-tut the liberals for totally ignoring those great ideas.

I don't consider myself to be sharing the GOP with Goldberg. He took Big Tech money in return for The National Review not writing stories about how conservative voices were being erased in social media. It's why he had to LEAVE The National Review. If you're a fan of conservatives who talk about "America's leadership role in the world", which means we get to pay for carriers, bombers, and flag-draped coffins while Europe gets free tuition and medicine, then you are part of Goldberg's party.

The LA Times and Jonah Goldberg. Those are two reasons to not read the article. I suspect Goldberg believes there is direct relationship between open border policies and growth in his portfolio. The same with George Conway. They hate Trump because he wants to close the border. Goldberg and Conway are not Republicans. They are self-serving, investment class elitists.

I get so tired of supposed conservatives starting with the presumption that the Left in America would actually support a conservative idea if it just weren't tainted with a conservative politician who is really awful because the Left hates him. Jonah, the ONLY ideas the Left in America are interested in are more licentious sexuality and more free stuff. Duh.

What is sad is that he has to trash and deride every MAGA politician or conservative personality or pundit out there more influential than he is, meaning a significant majority of them. I guarantee that he has nothing but amused, condescending contempt for us. Count on it.

After the dust continues to settle on last year’s presidential election with Americans slowly accepting Joe Biden as the 46th president of United States, Julie Kelly’s polemic against the Never Trump movement may seem like yet another instance of a political writer getting it wrong. When Democrats occupy the White House along with the House and Senate, it seems like those writers who opposed Donald Trump won the argument. They can point to the results and claim they knew Trump and his populism would eventually lead to losses and relegate the GOP to their current political quagmire.

That’s part of the reason Republicans in Nevada filed another lawsuit on Tuesday alleging widespread voter fraud and irregularities.
