Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old man suspected of shooting former President Donald Trump, was routinely bullied in high school, according to a former schoolmate.
Jason Kohler(snip) told a reporter what he remembers about Crooks. “He was bullied almost every day,” he said. “He would sit alone at lunch. I mean, he was just an outcast.”
Kohler further described how other students would pick on Crooks:

My heart hurts for the child that he was. It’s awful that it came to this.

Dittoes, #1.
When I was in school, I don’t remember kids getting bullied like they do today. There were a couple of odd kids. But nothing like the “odd” of today and the societal outcast that results.
Sorry for him and his family.

My son believes he'll have a room full of video games...the kind that make weak kids feel powerful.

Well, there you go....bullied in school so the only possible thing to do was shoot the former president. Angry nutcases come in many shapes, forms and types. Predicting their behavior is impossible.
I was bullied in school, too. And I learned to fight back, and I put it behind me.

As #5 says about being bullied. Most of us were up through grade school in one way or the other. You learn to fight back or be bullied forever. I don't know what this kid's home life was like but something triggered what might have been an unstable mental state to start with.

Leftist thought has made humanity generally weak. You have to walk on eggshells around people at work so as not to offend. Even in church pastors have to be careful about sharing what they really think so as not to offend (actually not bad, stick to the Scriptures). People focus on feelings and make decisions based on how they feel or their wrong thinking. Years ago, I was told in bible study that I couldn't correct someone's wrong thinking about God by sharing the scripture with them leading them to the truth. I told the leader that I would never do what she was asking me to do, and I would continue to correct as I was able. One lady in that same church became one of my best friends, because she said no one had ever helped her understand anything about God; she saw God through the lens of a controlling husband. Bullying is somewhat relative; we'll all been there. It's not an excuse, but a wussified society says it is. It's not!

It's always the loner bullied young men responsible for the mass shootings these days. I blame parents, schools and society for not teaching kids today coping skills and giving out participation trophies. They are all special with no competition to improve their skills. No critical thinking and if they aren't a victim, they are the oppressor.

I was bullied in school. So were a lot of us. There were a lot of parents and teachers who encouraged it as a normal rite of passage. I still wish total misery and death on the bullies, and the Karma fairy has made that happen in most cases. I haven't had to lift a finger and just watch while they have multiple divorces, drug addiction, criminal convictions and chronic or terminal illnesses. Most of their souls and lives are consumed by rot and it pleases me.
So this bully victim hasn't hurt anyone, and dont plan to.

The funny part of all this if there is a funny part, is that this Crooks kid tried to join the school's shooting team, but he was such a bad shot, he didn't make the team.

I was bullied through elementary, junior high and high school. (finally came into my own when I was about 18).
Yet somehow I never felt like I needed to kill a political figure, shoot up a school or torture animals.

Re #6, young people, particularly young men's brains are undergoing a massive rewiring process in the 17-20 year old time period. A certain percentage of very normal young men reach this point and then go totally and irretrievably off the rails mentally. It's a small percentage, maybe 1-3%, I don't know, but it happens.
Apparently the Giffords shooter was one of these. Many said he was a normal kid and then went off the rails about that age, and off into nutso, dark, violent insanity. Perhaps this is what happened here.

This background sounds reminiscent of the Columbine High School massacre in April 1999. The two shooters were outcasts at the school and did not fit into the class culture very well. As a consequence, they kept to themselves and were bullied. Eventually, the two boys decided to settle the score. And they did. Before killing themselves.

Every boy faces this at some point. My son is one of the most considerate people I know and punks in high school took advantage of that. He hid his anger, but I took him aside and said I'd be happy to go with him to school and support in any way I could, but that probably was not the path he wanted and he agreed.
Well, I said you have nothing to lose. Might as well get it over with and take on the short loud mouth. Tell him the comments are over as of that moment. If he wants a fight, bring all the frustration and anger to the tormentor and take him down. Then do not stop till the crowd pulls you off. If that happens, I will back you 100%.
He did exactly what we talked about. The punk backed off, said he was just joking and never opened his mouth again. This craap was the last think my son wanted to do, but he turned a corner that day.

Dead at 20, the author of a pretty much wasted life.
Sad. What he did was terribly wrong, but it is still sad.
