With an eye toward the future of a Republican Party dominated by former President Trump and his legions of MAGA supporters, Trump has named 39-year-old Sen. JD Vance of Ohio as his running mate on the GOP'S 2024 national ticket. The former president, who made his greatly anticipated and high-stakes announcement on Monday as the Republican National Convention kicked off in swing-state Wisconsin's largest city, will now share the ticket with one of his top supporters in the Senate and a one-time Trump critic who has transformed into a leading America First disciple.
Vance, a former venture capitalist and the author of the bestselling memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy,”

Not too certain about this guy, don't really know much about him. A very new guy in the political arena. Guys with very little history make me nervous.

A good step toward rescuing America from the"Professionals",
who have all the answers except for two...
1. How did you get us into this mess?
and,
2. How can the people who got us into this mess
be expected get us out?

He wasn't on my preference list, but I will grant that he has done quite well in his 39 years on the planet. I read Hillbilly Elegy a while back. And liked it.
I will now pull it out of the bookcase and read it again.

Expect Heels-up Harris to have a "cold" on the night of the VP debate!! It's almost unfair what JD Vance is going to do to her that night!!!

As far as I know, Sen. Vance is an excellent choice. In a debate, Kamala Sutra would have to do a lot of laughing to deflect her stupidity. A lot of laughing. Guffawing.

So Donald Trump, Jr was a big supporter of Vance! He has a compelling life story - the 21st century equivalent of Abraham Lincoln. Kind of glad it wasn't Gov Youngkin - my governor here in VA. Sorry, but Youngkin is just a bit too much of the country club style Republican that Trump is the antithesis of although he would be a good counter to Trump's more gregarious nature. I'm sure he has a future in the next Trump Administration though as he is limited by state's constitution to one term. As for having little history - Trump had little history and we saw how well he did in his first term considering all the garbage he had to deal with. And I think Vance will hand Kamala her lunch at the VP debate but do it in a kind of nice way. Vance also has a working class background and quite frankly, if something were to happen to Trump in office - he could assume the office seamlessly and he believes in MAGA.

Good choice! Once they win, Ohioans will have to apply firm pressure to Gov. DeWine to appoint a conservative, definitely not Matt Dolan! Jim Renacci or Sec of State Frank LaRose.

@#13 - You stated "Trump had little history" - since when? The whole world knew the name Trump. Trump was not a mystery.

To all the so-called experts who said Vance wouldn't be the pick because Trump hates facial hair, good luck getting all that egg off of your faces!

The best thing about this choice is it will drive the lefties insane. Guy who worked himself up from basically a white trash background and has done really well for himself while making brilliant social observations and acting on them. Yeah, let's see someone very smart with actual military experience and "street" cred go up against Willie Brown's girlfriend and see what that looks like. CACKLECACKLECACKLE!!!

I agree this is a big-picture move that disregards the kind of "check all the political boxes" move that professional politicians make. Vance is smart, has an understanding and a heart for working class America, and will be great presiding over the Senate and helping advance Trump's programs. He's also clearly a signal that it's time to groom the next generation of young leaders...unlike the Democrats who are like "political Leisure World" for their leaders.

What a difference a couple of days makes. On Saturday, Trump came within a couple of centimeters of not being here anymore. Today, he announces a vp. What a world we live in.

#3--ask julius c. if it's a good idea to have a senator behind your back--they bring nothing more than
their rampant ambitions to push in on the boss, drop him off the stage and take over.
to us, he's pence 2.0. his staffers are snivelling weasels. he does not radiate trust or working his caseload.

The other day, I posted the choice would be J D Vance, if Donald Trump was listening to Don Jr. I think Vance is a great choice. He has a great background, won the Senate seat in Ohio, and is as smart as a whip.

Vance will prove the bizarre comments wrong. Many times over, but despite everything, I am afraid President Trump is still a long shot against the greatest voter fraud machine in history.

Not a surprise. Past time to move to the next generation of GOP leadership. One slight draw back is Weak DeWine will pick his replacement. Trump will need more allies in the Senate to get his policies in place. Still too many low - T GOP Senators. And yes, that's true in the House. Keep lookin' up.

I hope Vance has all the skeletons out of his closet, because he is going get full-court press by the FBI and propaganda "news media" to find something to destroy him.
