Following U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon's decision to dismiss the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump, Special counsel Jack Smith said he intends to file an appeal.
"The dismissal of the case deviates from the uniform conclusion of all previous courts to have considered the issue that the Attorney General is statutorily authorized to appoint a Special Counsel. The Justice Department has authorized the Special Counsel to appeal the court’s order," Peter Carr, Public Information Jack Smith's office told Fox News Digital.

President Biden struggled Monday to explain his recent demand that Democrats put former President Donald Trump in the “bull’s-eye,” saying it was a mistake but also saying he could have said worse.
In a clip from an interview with NBC Mr. Biden was asked about the words he used in a phone call with campaign supporters earlier this month.
“It was a mistake to use the — I didn’t use crosshairs, I meant bull’s-eye, I meant focus on him,” Mr. Biden said. According to the report in Politico, Mr. Biden was defending his continued campaign in the face of questions about his abilities.
“I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump.

Perhaps the only surprise here is that it's not a surprise. As many people had predicted, Donald Trump selected Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) to run on the GOP presidential ticket. Vance had appeared to have the inside position on the veepstakes track for weeks, and didn't get eclipsed by the events of this weekend: After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State

Former president Donald Trump is officially the Republican party’s presidential nominee for the third consecutive election cycle, an outcome that was effectively decided months ago after Trump dominated his primary challengers in the early-state contests.
Trump received enough delegates to officially become the GOP nominee when son Eric Trump allocated Florida’s delegates for Trump, to a rousing ovation from the crowd in Milwaukee, Wis. on Monday.
Eric Trump made the announcement flanked by brother Don Jr. and sister Tiffany, and wife Lara Trump, a co-chair of the Republican party. Once the cheering died down, Kool & the Gang’s famous 1980 hit Celebration

Tesla Inc. CEO and billionaire Elon Musk said on Monday that supported the choice that former President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social media of choosing Ohio Senator JD Vance as vice presidential (VP) running mate in the 2024 election.
"Congratulations @JDVance1! Excellent decision by @realDonaldTrump," Musk wrote shortly after the formal VP choice was public and the Republican Party confirmed Trump as its official nominee in the 2024 election at the Republican National Convention (RNC).
Musk rushed on Saturday to endorse after Trump was confirmed to be unharmed after the shooting in Pennsylvania.

United States President Joe Biden is set to reveal a nationwide plan to cap rental costs, according to three sources cited by The Washington Post on Monday.
This announcement, expected in Nevada on Tuesday, addresses growing voter frustration over skyrocketing housing prices, especially in Nevada where citizens have experienced surges in housing costs, Biden aims to bolster his economic standing among voters.
The proposal includes eliminating a tax benefit for landlords raising rents by over 5% annually, affecting those owning more than 50 units. This move seeks to protect tenants without discouraging new construction.

Monday brought about a fresh round of presidential election polling and model updates, and the numbers are absolutely brutal for Joe Biden.
A new batch of swing state surveys was released, showing Trump dominating across the board, including in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Georgia. As things stand, Trump is in position to win an electoral landslide. Pennsylvania, once reasonably believed to be a lost cost, has come full circle, and now this is just the latest of many polls showing the former president up big there. Nevada remains a very interesting contest as well,

A years-long collapse in support for Democrats among young Gen Z "Zoomer" males accelerated to a dizzying speed during the Presidentish Joe Biden administration — and that's before Donald Trump's display of sheer damn manliness in the moments after Saturday's assassination attempt.
The collapse began in 2016, the same year Donald Trump was elected to his first term in office — and, looking back, it seems almost inevitable. That was the year the American Left went from merely unhinged to flying off the rails like Doc Brown and Clara Clayton at the very end of "Back to the Future Part III."

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old Pennsylvania man who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Saturday, reportedly got rejected from his high school shooting club for being a “comically bad” shot.
The shooter, who killed a Trump supporter and wounded two others while only grazing the former president’s ear during a rally, reportedly has a less-than-stellar record with shooting accuracy. Per the New York Post:
A few years before the assassination attempt, Crooks tried out for the rifle team at Bethel Park High School, two former classmates told The Post.
The shooting range at the school is 50 feet long by 21 feet wide,

Former President Donald Trump has completely overhauled his convention speech following Saturday's assassination attempt. In an exclusive interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump, who was millimeters away from being killed, will now call for a renewed effort at national unity during his speech on Thursday. Trump expressed his desire to seize this historic moment to unite the country.
“The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger,” he told Salena Zito of the Washington Examiner. “Had this not happened, this would’ve been one of the most incredible speeches,” hitting at the policies of Joe Biden. “Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now.”
