Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old Pennsylvania man who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Saturday, reportedly got rejected from his high school shooting club for being a “comically bad” shot.
The shooter, who killed a Trump supporter and wounded two others while only grazing the former president’s ear during a rally, reportedly has a less-than-stellar record with shooting accuracy. Per the New York Post:
A few years before the assassination attempt, Crooks tried out for the rifle team at Bethel Park High School, two former classmates told The Post.
The shooting range at the school is 50 feet long by 21 feet wide,

Well, he was a good enough to get a shot off and get a head shot that would have killed Trump if Trump hadn't turned his head a split second before. He did belong to a shooting club, so maybe his aim had gotten better. Also, remember, he was confronted by a police officer seconds before he started shooting at Trump and was able to turn around and still get the shot off that would have been a head shot if Trump hadn't turned his head. Also, he may have been registered as a Republican, but his social media account indicated he was at least familiar with Antifa people, and he also gave money to a left-wing organization in Chicago.

Clearly he's been working on his marksmanship some. The targets for 50 ft rifle have a bullseye that is literally the same size as a .22 LR bullet diameter. Only one shot is aimed at each of ten targets for a ten shot string. Sitting and kneeling are not too difficult to learn. Learning to get great hits from standing position is very difficult. And the triggers are typically very light. He could easily have accidentally fired when not intending to, as a totally novice shooter.
But somewhere, he got some pointers, and was doing much better....unfortunately.

Everything said in this article is compatible with the shooter being a vulnerable narcissist and easy prey for a communist group like Antifa.

I'm sure his handlers in the Biden admin told him to register as GOP.

He was good enough to almost kill President Trump but for the grace of God. What difference does it make if he was bad shot in high school? He definitely got better. He managed to kill one innocent bystander, wound several others, and almost went down in the history books as a presidential assassin like Booth (Lincoln), Oswald (Kennedy), Czolgosz (McKinley), and Guiteau (Garfield).

His shot was right on the mark. The mark just happened to move a fraction of an inch.

Has the slug been recovered? And does it match Crooks' gun? Maybe a forensic analysis of the shot's path could reveal where the grassy knoll shooter was positioned. I know, goofy. But I put nothing past these villains. And remember, killing Crooks was instantaneous and essential.

Re #9, these are extremely high velocity bullets, for .223 in and AR15, typically in the 3000-3200 feet per second velocity range....three times the speed of sound, almost, and when they hit something they frequently fragment and would be difficult to perhaps impossible to match to a particular rifle.
Pistol bullets are far more likely to remain fairly intact and be compared to rifling.
But....sometimes, rifle bullets are found somewhat intact, and can be matched. But finding those bullets, unless they were embedded in a bystander, not much chance of that. The one that nicked his ear probably hit something a long way past and if what it hit was hard, blew to pieces.

if youre comically bad , seems you don't become doc holliday in a few years, or sign up post haste
to blow away wyatt earp at the OK corral ---not wearing his 6 shooter, but hauling his kit in 100 degree heat .. .
something is awry.

Re #9, if you are actually interested in bullet performance....here is some professional testing in ballistic gellatin, calibrated to match muscle tissue. You can see how mangled the outline of the bullets are in the
shadow view after coming to rest.

That was interesting. But I suspect the PDJT's ear lobe has considerably less stopping power than 12 inches of ballistic gel. LOL I thought just maybe, if it grazed, it might have continued for several hundred yards, until it got tired, and dropped in the the dirt. Maybe Abby Sciuto could compare the metal content profile of corresponding slugs. Sorry, kind chatting. Signing off.

First, he registered Republican to mess with all Republicans at the voting booth. A COMMON practice in both parties. Unfortunately, many people swallow the simple answer and never bother to take a few seconds to figure out the strategy of the Operation Chaos move of ' working ' with the opposition. Good grief.
Now we get this nonsense of skilled, unskilled shooter. He was just as good as any Marine expert as far as the first shot. IF President Trump had not turned his head 15 degrees to his left, the bullet would have impacted the base of his skull, about where one of JFKs wounds were. His second and third shots were too late and wide after Trump flicked his ear and ducked into the bulletproof cage area at the base of the lecture. As for the roof, he was crawling around on it belly down for three or four minutes so it wasn't that hot. No ' expert ' assasin would have picked that spot because there was no exit and they aren't stupid. An ' expert ' would have put the first one between the shoulders instead of a moving head and they would not have been seen by dozens and they would have waited for some diversion from the other direction. Quit reaching for exotic nonsense. The reality was horrible enough.
None of the high school kids who apparently could not stand the killer, would have done any better. This is the first of many more claims to get attention and try and make money from a media that will say and do anything.

Re #15. Yes...it would continue on, speed pretty much unchanged by the ear, until it hit something. Very hard to find, and if found, probably mangled.
Level to downward apparent path, but even hitting dirt may splatter it. Anything hard, concrete or steel or a tree....shards.
