The federal government is spending $1.7 billion to modernize automobile manufacturing facilities, helping the industry compete with foreign subsidies and create and protect jobs.
As part of the Automotive Community Benefits Plan, the current administration will extend grants to 11 selected manufacturing plants in eight states, including in Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, that have temporarily closed or were at risk of closing.

FTA: 'The latest announcement is a critical part of the administration’s efforts to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States...' Why not invest in making something people really want, that really works, and they can afford. So, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania? 2 swing states, and one they think might be harder to steal this time around. And Barry said his administration was the most transparent.

Why does biden's administration create a problem and then offer a way to 'fix' the problem which is really a way to maintain the problem.
10th Amendment, folks.
It is not the federal government's job to pick industry's winner and losers...(unless it is dems buying votes with tax dollars).

Corporate welfare? Democrats? impossible! Their voters HATE corporate welfare! Oh, that's right Democrat voters don't get a say so on who gets elected, Rigged and non-existent primaries, Super delegates, and a media that will push any candidate the DNC wants to prevent it. Republican voters would never stand for it.

A real leader would let them struggle to survive or die. A charlatan will steal our money, take credit for his generosity and they will still end up in failure. See what's happening in Ukraine? Replace that country in the scenario with the US auto industry. Biden was played by the UAW, which will accept our money with glee.

Just reduce tax rates, eliminate unnecessary regulation and get out of the way. American ingenuity and entrepreneurship will do the rest. It always has.

More Biden spending that is sure to “jack up” inflation and an attempt to buy votes?

Wait...I thought they were trying to phase out the production of fossil fuel powered vehicles? Now they're spending money to modernize the factories that produce the product they're trying to eliminate. It doesn't make sense unless polling suggests the democrats are losing the union vote and this is an attempt to buy back those votes. Thank goodness the democrat party has access to all our tax dollars and that money is readily available to buy more votes.

Couldn't open the article. When did Congress authorize THAT money for that purpose? It seems every other day Biden is spending more money for something- student loans, Ukraine, now this. Where is his authorization to do all this?

The old frontiersman, Davy Crockett, made an eloquent speech to congress on welfare from the public purse. The points he made are right on target today. Unfortunately, our government is so far gone down that road now that there's no turning back. Maybe DJT can slow it down a little and slow down Davy's gravesite rpm.

They will convert to producing EVs, and then close for good when nobody buys them.

I always liked Studebaker. It will be fun to buy a new Hawk with a Paxton supercharger.
They whine about President Trump being a king, because of course THAT is exactly what Supreme Court defying biden does. Handing out bribes to buy votes. It is all the parasite knows from a life spent in the pig swamp of DC.

Yet another bail out for an industry that controls a large union vote.
I would rather see the money go to help start up an American business that could produce appliances that don't fall apart in a year or two.

Forcing manufacturers to remodel their plants to produce EVs is not a good thing. This spending is worse than wasted. It is taking the products people prefer to buy off the market. I suggest that paying manufacturers to stop producing ICE automobiles is very inflationary as it makes the cost of the products people want and need to rise.

We only have 2 major manufactures left: GM and Ford. Chrysler is owned by Stellantis, a Euro consortium. Is his illegal give away going to Europe too?
Remember when Obama gave millions to Fiskar? They took the money, left the US and finally folded.

Just another money laundering scam. $1.7 billion to modernize automobile manufacturing facilities. Why, the auto companies can't modernize their own plants. All for votes. Biden and every scum democrat are making fools out of every hard working American taxpayer. They pay off student loans on the taxpayers dime, they support illegal immigrants on the payers dime, they give illegal immigrants social security benefits off the tax payers dime, they give Ukraine billions to support their war, on the taxpayers dime. And what do the American taxpayers get, I'll tell ya, the middle finger. The outright stupidity of the democratic voter is appalling. Wake up.

The money must be coming out of his 'personal stash', since Congress hasn't voted to give it.
HA! as if. the Biden Stash will be increased by 170 million bucks with his 10%.
