France is on the verge of a “financial crisis” and consequent economic decline after the surprise success of a hard left coalition in this weekend’s elections, the country’s outgoing finance minister Bruno Le Maire has warned. [SNIP] In a possible hint at future chaos, riot police clashed with left-wing demonstrators in Paris on Sunday evening.
The hastily assembled Popular Front (NFP) - spearheaded by left-wingers including former Presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon - is pledging to increase public spending by £125 billion if they successfully form a government. They have also proposed a 90 percent tax on incomes over £340,000 a year.

A 90% tax isn't really a tax. It's a neutron bomb designed to destroy a country without killing any people or destroying any buildings. Initially. Those events come later when the chaos serious.
The perception that the people doing this are stupid is incorrect. They are diabolically clever and evil. The mystery is why anybody voted for them.

The 90% income tax ain't going to happen. The far left that "won" the election holds 182 seats in the National Assembly. Macron's and the National Rally's (LePen) hold 163 and 143 seats respectively, totaling 306 seats. Without these two parties' support the far left isn't going to get much crazy stuff done. Marcron is still president and has much more power than the Prime Minister. Macron and his "centrist" cronies are weasels of the highest order. Their guiding star is their own power, not France.
As to why the far left won the plurality, look no further than the Conservative's defeat in the United Kingdom. The voters threw them out because in 14 years they hadn't done anything conservative. Same thing in France. The supposed right of center that has ruled for many years didn't produce anything the voters wanted.

Gosh, who would have thought people with means would rather leave than give most of it away to support those who don't want to work?? Don't worry, I'm sure it will be "different" when they decide to try it here...

Lots of the wealthy in France and Europe have maintained dual citizenship in other European countries. Easy for them to move to another country since they have the means to do so. I think they will have to back off the 90% tax that simply won't fly. That said, never underestimate the left's ability to eff things up as one of our president said about his VP.

My Huguenot Rousseau ancestors left France early on, after at least 30,000 Huguenots were killed by their fellow Frenchmen in less than a week. The French have always been a little (or a lot) mentally off. Then they have a habit of killing off the ones who aren't as insane as they are, and the remainder get them into wars they cannot win, even by rolling over and playing dead. The French of today are the progeny of many centuries of beta humans. Those that weren't either were killed - or fled, like my 6x grandfather, Teodore, who, thank God, finally made it to the New World.

The French government wants their best and brightest to work their tails off so they can take 90% of their earnings. No sane person is going to do this for long, if at all.
The novel Atlas Shrugged comes to mind.

Have you seen the election map in France? It is a vast sea of uniform color with one contrasting dot, which is Paris. Elections in France are Paris vs the countryside.
This is why we have an Electoral College.

Yeah, it SOUNDS good to those Socialist-Commies to 'soak the rich'. My favorite bartender Sandy Cortez says that all the time, the rich should 'pay their fair share', yadda yadda. It won't happen. Or else, I would invite some hot, rich French women to move in next to me here in The Old Dominion. Our tax rate is way below 90%!

The same mentality exists in the United States with the government's constant pushing of the "fair share" tax that is used to constantly threaten our rich people. They have never implemented that threat because "the rich" will move offshore immediately and nullify the dreams of the parasitic government. I see Macron hanging from a lamp post in France's near future. Being eaten alive by muslim immigrants wasn't a bad enough evil to impose upon the citizenry so he came up with something more evil.
