Joe Biden has dealt another body blow to America's gas car manufacturers after his stuttering roll-out of EV charging points was slammed as 'pathetic'.
The Transportation Department told automakers they have eight years to squeeze another 16 miles per gallon out of their cars if they want to stay in business - while the fuel efficiency of their trucks will have to double.
Friday's edict came just weeks after the EPA slashed the limits on tailpipe emissions as part of the White House pledge to ensure that more than half of all new vehicles sold are electric by 2032.

Over my hot, gas powered engine. BTW Blowhard Joe, why have only 7 EV charging stations been built with the 8 Billion $$$ allocated for the construction? What have you been doing with all that $$$. Charging stations must be everywhere and must allow charging as quickly as it takes to pump gasoline or diesel. Right now that is a stone age away from occurring. So I'll keep my gas powered Jeep until forever.

Blatantly unconstitutional, but so was loan forgiveness. Maybe some will wake up.

And exactly how is it that a President with some bureaucrat(s) of the DOT believe they have the legal authority to issue such regs? Because our lazy arsed Congress wrote sloppy laws leaving details to others. Pray that the Supremes find this unconstitutional during the current session as this is presently in their hands.

We live on a series of blocks where there are 400-500 apts. Do we make a reservation and wait in line for a week to charge an electric vehicle at the closest 4 chargers 1/2 mile away in a library parking lot. Biden and his cronies are borderline insane

Can you imagine how many charging stations would be needed if everyone in NYC owned an EV and how much land would be needed for all those charging stations?.
EV's are an awful idea in more ways than one.

1's right; they can't force us to buy their toy cars. But what about making gas cars illegal to use or even own? Congress had no problem making alcohol illegal...something Americans had owned and used for 300 years. Not sure about the Pilgrims, maybe ale. A tyrannical government does as it pleases. That's why we had a Constitution.

When you take a bad idea and make it worse.
I feel pretty certain that President trump will do his best to straighten out this EV problem and remove some of the people at the EPA.

Fta…quoting Buttigieg « Not only will these new standards save Americans money at the pump every time they fill up, they will also decrease harmful pollution and make America less reliant on foreign oil,' he said in a statement.
'These standards will save car owners more than $600 in gasoline costs over the lifetime of their vehicle.'«
It’s so easy to make rules when you are only half grounded in facts. Decrease pollution? Not if you count extraction, processing, of lbatteries, and the emissions from production of electricity. Fuel savings? More than offset by the extra cost of more tire changes.

I don't understand how the electrics get around auto regulations. All those self driving features that have killed. Warning or no warnings about its use, If a gas car had these issues they would be recalled.
The Tesla Truck lid can cut fingers off if they are in the way when it closes. no safety feature there. HOW?
Clearly money talks.

Nothing to do with increasing the MPG or MPKw. It's to prevent freedom of movement. A major item the Commiecrats have been trying to do for decades.
Think of their 15-minute cities.
Maintaining your old car won't be viable when gasoline becomes expensive and unavailable. Democrats thought of everything.

It should be noted that at the same time Biden and the Democrats what to go to all EV autos and trucks (and all electric homes), he wants to shut down fossil fuel, nuclear, and hydro electrical power plants and replace them with solar and wind power plants. This is insane.
1. Solar and wind power is not available 24 hours a day. The sun doesn’t shine at night and the wind doesn’t always blow.
2. All solar and wind is backed up by fossil fuels. Battery farms will need to be built to replace the fossil fuel backup.
3. EV vehicles and all electric homes will greatly increase electrical power demand.
4. Trying to replace everything with solar and wind powered electricity in so short a time would be unbelievably expensive.
5. Sabotage of the electrical grid would bring the country totally dependent on electricity to its knees.
2. Going all electric

Increasing gas milage across the board saves money in the short term. Long term, the gas companies cut back production and increase to retail price to compensate. If you think gas is expensive now, just wait until your the last 25% of people driving a gas powered car. And then there is the drap in taxes due to less gas being sold. The government will make up that loss somewhere.
And then there is the issue of charging stations and a lack of power stations to generate electricity and an inadequate power grid to deliver it. The power lines arent capable. Think of it this way. Your garden hose can deliver 6 gallons of water a minute. You dont have a hose or plumbing in your house to deliver more. To do so. You need bigger pipes. Too much power in a copper cable, will cause it to melt. And every transformer on those telephone poles etc will have to upgraded. So stand by for massive rate increases, taxes and fees to cover those upgrades. It will take decades to accomplish. But the Chinese suppliers, democrat donors and trade unions will get rich in the process.

This FORCED MIGRATION will fail and for many reasons.
EVs are not affordable for the average consumer, and even the better choice Hybrids are not affordable either,
Where are those who do not want to destroy the Earth for copper, nickel, lithium, etc?? These resources are NOT renewable!
To produce the electricity to power the vehicles, costs WAY MORE than gasoline for the cost per mile traveled-- when they fail, they are DONE and strands the motorist where there are NO charging ports!
Its a hipster fantasy that the electricity produced is CLEAN, but it takes petroleum or nuclear power to produce the energy for the charging stations.
