Chicago police, the Secret Service, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies sound confident that they're able to handle any protests that occur at the Democratic National Convention in August.“With two months left until the convention, we’re finalizing plans and making sure all of our operations are safe,” CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling told reporters at a press conference on Thursday. “Make no mistake, we are ready. The partnership, collaboration, and open communication between everyone involved is why we are ready.”
“We’ve got a tremendous working relationship with Chicago police, as well as a multitude of other agencies, both local and federal, that will be contributing

It does appear that the mass of assembled police officers are trying to get ready for the forms of protest of yesterday. It really is too bad that they are not there to stop gun violence, raids on the miracle mile stores, rampant drug use

I'd kind of like to see them control the riots like they did in Soylent Green...that would be a chuckle...in any event, I think I'll lay in some extra popcorn...hah wonder if they have had any 'open communication' with all the protest leaders...afterall, the leaders are probably working with them anyway...

That is just leading up to and through the convention days....Chicago will also have $10's of Millions to later be paid to Hundreds of protestors in compensation monies, regardless of what the cops do to them, or why the cops do it. It won't even have to go through the courts, the Chi-Town Politicians will jump at the chance to make the "Settlement" offers.

Why have a convention at all? The comrads of the democratic central committee already have chosen Brandon as the candidate.

These 'protesters' if they vote at all most likely vote 'Democrat'. So why would they riot in Chicago this summer when it seems like that would only serve to move fence-sitters to the GOP?

With all of the law enforcement focused on the DNC Convention, will that leave the rest of Chicago vulnerable (or even more vulnerable than usual) to the vermin who rule the streets there? Will there be flash mobs on the Miracle Mile? Will tourists visiting the lakefront, Navy Pier, Chicago Cubs & White Sox games, museums, shops, and restaurants become victims of unfettered street crime? What about the usual shootings every weekend? Will the regular trouble spots turn into shooting galleries during the convention due to lack of police? Can't wait until the Convention!

Bouncing off #6, with the DNC receive any kind of bill, as republicans have gotten, from venues for the added security costs?

These protestors are on the dems payroll. Pay them to stay out of Chicago for the short-term.
After the convention pay them to return. Problem solved.

“First Amendment protection is only there if you’re not committing a crime, and you can be acting out peacefully but still breaking the law,” Snelling said, discussing safety measures for the convention.'
Sounds like double-talk.
(Kinda like the NYC jurors being told- He (PDT) doesn't have to be guilty to be convicted.)

Poster 11 beat me to it. Take note crooks, easy pickings everywhere outside the radius of the convention.
Also agree that a lot of this convention will be "virtual".

The only one who could control Chicago was Ole Mayor Daley...he ran a tight ship and the last big protest he told his cops...take off your name tags and stars...and use your billy clubs to keep order...he was a true leader and Chicago loved him....his son was a joke....

All we need to know. Chicago ain't just students anymore. FTA '...The Palestinian protesters have an expansive and unrealistic view of what the First Amendment allows and what it doesn't. Hatem Abudayyeh, U.S. Palestinian Community Network National chair called Snelling’s comments “very serious and disconcerting.”:
