The Queensland government recently placed a ban on pumping and dumping carbon dioxide into the rocks of the Great Artesian Basin.
This was an event rarely seen -- politicians stumbling onto a sensible energy policy. Burying CO2 would achieve nothing useful -- just more futile green waste.
But their ban on Carbon Capture and Underground Storage (CCUS) should be extended to all areas of Queensland, not just this one basin.
Even the blinkered Greens and the TikTok generation should recognize that today’s low levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are too close to the red line of death, where all plant life will die (followed by animal life).
A difficult concept to explain to ordinary people is that some people and some ideas are unadulterated evil, not just in their implementation but in their conception. Most of us are unfamiliar with evil because we spend much time and effort staying as far away as possible. There’s also an impulse to humanize others. Many want to believe the best in people and trivialize or gloss over readily observable behaviors that might lead to seeing a person as evil. People misinterpret evil acts as separate and apart from having an evil soul.
Hitler is a perfect example of pure evil despite a superficial handful of humanizing qualities.

Per the 41-page draft of NIH’s new “Scientific Integrity Policy” (call it SIP), a Scientific Integrity Council (call it SIC) will be created. [snip] the SIC would protect even knowingly false information it likes. Illegal gain-of-function research caused the lab leak that wreaked havoc and destruction on the world? No one really knows how many Americans regularly carry handguns, concealed or openly. The number of concealed carry licenses doesn’t tell the tale, particularly since 29 states are now “constitutional carry states.” Unless otherwise prohibited by law, Americans need no license to carry concealed weapons in those states. As I recently noted here at AT, some 36 states allow open carry.
We do know that April was the 57th consecutive month of more than one million gun sales. It’s reasonable to believe tens of millions of Americans regularly carry, and most don’t advertise the fact. But why should anyone carry? :

Donald Trump is pleading for the Supreme Court to intervene in his hush money trial has he awaits sentencing on 34 counts of falsifying documents on July 11.

I'll have to get a copy of this book. I just finished Cashill's "Untenable" and it was a fascinating look at what Newark, New Jersey was actually like less than one lifetime ago. I was surprised to find how pleasant a place it was before it became....untenable.
