Original Article

The box office is down 42 percent over the last pre-pandemic year of 2019, Hollywood just suffered the worst Memorial Day weekend in over a quarter-century, and now a bunch of “experts” are demanding the movies become even more woke with even more Global Warming alarmism. Before we go any further, let me ask you something… How many times would you put up with this? Ding-dong… YOU: Can I help you? EXPERT: We’ve checked and re-checked our data, and have bad news. A meteor will hit your house in three days, you have to move. YOU: I’ll get packed.

Comments:

The example scenario is funny, and a good representation of what these climate crazies have been doing.

Are these numbers even adjusted for inflations? It may be even worse. Actual ticket sales would be the greatest indicator of all. As Nolte says in the article, they won't change no matter how much they lose. Don't believe him? Look at any red city, they will just keep voting the same no matter how bad it gets. Can't even comprehend the idea.

climate change is natural, and we do not know what direction it will go in next time. and the people who are sure we do, are journalists, teenagers, actresses, vagabonds, people who never ever took a science class after middle school, people taking too much drugs, and joiners. Those who know better but say they believe, now that is another story. Here we have liars, flatterers, Democrats, Malthusians, and those who either want to rule the world or are smooching up others who want to. Our records do not go very far, such as they are, they are ambiguous, and the scientific community (here i speak of those who have studied hard physics at least one time) are not in a consensus about climate. Thank you to the Nobel Prize winners who have been taking the arrows for everyone. It was a good use of the award.

I like watching NOVA on our PBS station. A few months ago they had on a terrific show about what it was like a few million years ago. You know, the land mass at the time, the animals, plants etc. But it even went back before life as we know it started and for a few million years it seems there was a time when volcanoes erupted just about every day. (I might be exaggerating a little bit) but near the end of the show, there was the obligatory proclamation about how global warming is the absolute, no kidding, worst threat to earth today. I just shake my head. Why millions of years ago it was so bad and life today, but, by golly, it's worse now. s/

If I watched the Oscars I would have no idea who the actors are and have never heard of them. I watch Fox News, the Food Network, and occasionally a documentary. The rest of their crap is banal and unwatchable. It’s very sad because there was huge potential for both TV and movie producers to produce quality entertainment and instead they turned it into a vast liberal wasteland.

“We’re facing an unfunded, $1 trillion mandate that carries enormous consequences for the American consumer.” At least that’s what Chris Spear, American Trucking Associations President and CEO has to say about one D.C. diktat coming down from on high in particular, and that is the one mandating that the American trucking industry bend to EPA rules requiring all electric fleets and production lines. Here’s the context, from March of this year: On March 29, 2024, Good Friday, Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rolled out its new electric truck mandate, which will require that electric semi-trucks make up an increasing share of manufacturer sales from 2027 through 2032

In 2018, Francis insisted that it is a mistake to downplay the seriousness of homosexuality, asserting that homosexuals have no place in the priesthood. Homosexuality is “not just an expression of an affection,” the pope said in a book-length interview. “In consecrated and priestly life, there’s no room for that kind of affection.”

No one really knows how many Americans regularly carry handguns, concealed or openly. The number of concealed carry licenses doesn’t tell the tale, particularly since 29 states are now “constitutional carry states.” Unless otherwise prohibited by law, Americans need no license to carry concealed weapons in those states. As I recently noted here at AT, some 36 states allow open carry. We do know that April was the 57th consecutive month of more than one million gun sales. It’s reasonable to believe tens of millions of Americans regularly carry, and most don’t advertise the fact. But why should anyone carry? :

It’s a fine idea to pay tribute to movie stuntmen, those little-known heroes of the silver screen. But one would have to be far more charmed by endless, overloud, and preposterous action scenes and brain-dead fights than I am in order to enjoy The Fall Guy, which I recently watched at the local Bijou. The American Spectator’s Leonora Cravotta is right about the movie’s boy/girl romance and the welcome clear line between good and bad. These are too rare on the large or small screen these days. But for me these positives were cancelled by the aforementioned dreary chaos at industrial decibel levels. No disrespect to the estimable Leonora.

Consumer spending rose but at a slower pace than previously thought. The Commerce Department had previously estimated that the nation’s gross domestic product — the total output of goods and services — expanded at a 1.6% rate last quarter.
