California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has turned to climate change to explain how the state went from a $100 billion surplus two years ago to a $28 billion deficit, which would have been even higher prior to drastic actions last month.
As CalMatters noted, deficit estimates ranged from $38 billion to $73 billion:
That prompted Newsom and the Legislature to take “early action” last month to reduce the deficit by more than $17 billion ahead of the regular budget process. Their plan included some program cuts, but mostly relied on new revenue, internal borrowing and funding delays and shifts for savings,

If Newsom can't do the job he should resign. Let CA elect someone who can fix this (non-existant) problem. /s

"Climate change" is like "racism", a universal canard that can be used to justify any goofy, ill-conceived or power-grabbing left-wing policy.

The thing is, there are enough brainwashed Californians who will believe him and keep re-electing him and his ilk. I just got back from a two week trip there to see friends and family. There is still a small but significant percentage of people out walking, biking and even driving, alone, wearing masks.

California voters had their chance to replace Newsom but a majority wanted to keep him.

What can’t Climate Change do? Wonder if he has any proof of his assertion other than “it’s always someone else’s fault.

CA should be thankful there was wet, stormy weather. Otherwise the place would be on fire (which is also blamed on climate change).

Do y'all remember when we had so many people in this country (80% or more) who would've laughed this jerk Gruesome Newsom out of the room, along with Al Boor and Lurch? Do y'all remember that America? Sure do miss it.

Oh, it's 'Climate Change' all right,
... the POLITICAL climate!
#12, What we are seeing is the effect of 60 years of the Left's control of the TV networks, the 'slant' in the news stories, what they choose to cover, what they choose to ignore, the viewpoint that they use when the do cover something..... but also the content and the attitudes shown in 'entertainment' shows. Just as Zero said "Never underestimate Biden's ability to [eff] things up.", never underestimate the effect of the big TV networks on a large part of the population.

#5 - Newsom lost the recall. However, after 2 million ballots were thrown out because of "irregularities", he magically won the election. Sorta like Joe Biden.
#10 - California voters are not really this stupid. Our state is a microcosm of Red/Blue America. The voters in the vast rural red areas of the state are overwhelmed by the fraud in the blue cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Sacramento. The average Californian is not any more responsible for Newsom than regular conservative Americans are responsible for Biden.

Newsom is such a creep. CC is his standard fallback answer to everything. He and the legislature are ruining people's lives with their constant taxing and regulating. It's textbook abuse of the citizenry.

The deficit would probably be gone if they removed the billions being wasted on all things green.
