Why Trump decided not to take the stand:
Donald leaves his fate in the hands of
the jury after getting through 22 witnesses
unscathed. But do Americans care if he
is convicted?

It was a headline writers' dream of a trial: A porn star describing sex with a future president, a look inside the seediest kind of journalism and a disgraced lawyer dishing the dirt on his former boss.
Throughout it all, Donald Trump gave the air of a man who could care less, leaning back in his leather seat, eyes closed, in an act of either sleep or disdain.
The defense rested its case on Tuesday morning without the defendant taking the stand. The result is that for all the dirt dished, and the evidence presented by 22 witnesses, the Republican candidate for president came through largely unscathed.

In a way I hope Trump is convicted because that will galvanize conservatives with "the courage of his convictions."

Oh, a lot of us care. For anyone who knows the facts of this.... trial, not just a conviction but the very ongoing prosecution is an indication that the Dems use lawfare, that we are not equal before the law, that the Constitution has been subverted.
And, yes, a 'conviction' would add to that.

The way this sham trial has progressed, expect a "guilty" verdict even though no one on the jury knows what crime was committed.

Trump could be behind bars as early as next Thursday or Friday since I fully expect a guilty verdict and the judge to remand Trump into custody pending sentencing. That has been Merchan's plan all along. He wants to cement his name in the history books by sending Trump to the slammer. It will be a serious shock even to those who purport "to care less". The 2024 elections will be in total disarray.
One consequence might be to shock the Supreme Court into recognizing the need to give presidents more not less immunity. Another will be the litmus test it delivers to the Republican Party to determine if they are men or mice, and they will go ahead and nominate good loser Mitt Romney to apologize for Trump, the party, and its voters for taking up precious space on earth.

There were 22 witnesses? Witnesses to what? Did anyone prove a crime was committed outside of the trial itself?

Has anyone even bothered to specify exactly what his crime is?

Why should Trump take the stand? It wasn't ever a real trial. It's a show trial. Doesn't matter what is said. Doesn't matter what evidence is presented. The prosecution has its own narrative and will stick to it regardless. The show must go on! Just like any circus. And it is a circus.

Civil War or Martial Law. Only Sweet Barry, Traitor Joe, and Kapo George decide which comes first.

There's no reason for Trump to take the stand. He doesn't have to prove his innocence ... the prosecution has to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. It would only serve to legitimize the proceedings, which anyone can see is just a show trial with no there, there.

First off, whatever crap comes from that crooked kangaroo kourt in NY is NOT any legitimate "conviction" or not.
Either way, Trump has my vote, 100% and nothing those crimanals with law degrees do will change it one iota.

I look for a hung jury.
Certainly the Trump haters on the jury will want a guilty verdict, but surely anyone on that jury with a functioning brain must look at the consequences of a guilty verdict. One day their names will be discovered.

This was a sham show trial but it makes one wonder how many girls John F. Kennedy had to pay off during his presidency. I think he even had Billy Jeff, the Trailer Park Troll beat.

Any juror voting guilty will have a hard time explaining his vote to this fellow jurors.
It should be a quick acquittal, but I also see a hung jury, most of which will vote not guilty.
