If there is any topic that requires seriousness, it is the topic of genocide. If there is any sin so profound, any crime so vast, any wrong so awful that it must be treated with the same respect you would treat the body of a murdered child, it is this one. Because, after all, it is the crime that encompasses many such bodies. You would think these truths would give pause. You would think people would be both very quick to condemn a real genocide, and very keen to avoid applying the label where it isn’t deserved.

The news on Monday morning was dominated by stories of an economic recovery by Red China of a recession that the U.S. press had largely ignored. (Snip)
John Austin of the Brookings Institute wrote in Time magazine, “Conventional wisdom that [Red[ China’s economy would eclipse the U.S. in a decade—maybe even sooner—is looking uncertain. The view that [Red] China was the emerging geopolitical power, with developing nations tucked under its wings, is looking similarly shaky. It is now unclear whether [Red] China’s GDP will ever surpass the U.S. and nations around the world are rethinking their ties to Beijing and the debt trap that is the Belt and Road Initiative.

Trump, on the Trump intensity gap

I have a story on the website about a recent visit to Mar-a-Lago for a conversation with former President Donald Trump. At any given moment, there are lots of subjects in the news one could ask Trump about, but I decided to focus on a longer-term story — how he managed to come back from the disastrous end of his presidency in early 2021 to become the 2024 Republican Party presidential nominee. It’s really a story about the intensity gap between Trump’s supporters and everybody else.
Here’s the short version of what he told me during our conversation in Florida: He never felt politically dead. He knew he could run again.
Federal judges have ruled against the Biden administration in several recent high-profile cases, and those on the Left are not happy about it.
Instead of defending their policies on the merits in front of these judges, those on the Left have instead pressured the principal policy-making body for the federal judiciary to change how cases are assigned to those judges. Sadly, that body bowed to the pressure and created new guidance for assigning certain cases—all to soften the criticism coming from the Left.

The first thing I notice when I watch a black-and-white TV show on one of the rerun networks is the ties. In the 1950s, every man wore a tie. The milkman wore a tie. The mailman wore a tie. The policeman wore a tie. Even Elvis wore a tie on occasion. Chuck Berry always wore a tie. Gas station attendants wore them. (Snip) Men wore ties to ballgames because men were civilized.
Ties were important because they gave a sense of authority but ties also showed that a man wants to belong in society. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Eat to please thyself, but dress to please others.”

I spent my childhood studying extreme emotional states. My mother, an amateur athlete who won tennis and golf championships into her 60’s, a gifted pianist, beautiful, solidly educated, well read, funny, had reality breaks.

This week all eyes were on the Willis-Wade fiasco in Fulton County, Georgia, but three less smuttily scintillating cases seem at last to be limiting the overreach of the Department of Justice respecting the J6 defendants and Jack Smith’s persecution of President Donald Trump. In interpreting criminal statutes, it seems to me that Courts should not be creative and expansively read into them things that the legislature which writes the laws did not clearly proscribe as illegal, and it appears that finally, courts higher than the highly partisan D.C. Circuit judges understand that.

President Joe Biden’s secular deputies kidnapped Christian theology to champion transgenderism on the holiest weekend for Christianity.
On Sunday afternoon, Biden’s X account tweeted: “Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, I have a simple message to all trans Americans: I see you. Long-time political commentator Chris Matthews said Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that former President Donald Trump was being blasphemous by claiming he is God. Matthews said, “This presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is saying, I am the shepherd. I’m him. I’m God. It’s astounding to me. It’s astounding to me that he can talk like this. It’s blasphemy.” [Snip] Matthews added, “I don’t know if the Democrats have really thought through this campaign and what they’re up against. This guy’s calling himself God. Speaking to reporters at the White House Monday afternoon, Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre responded to backlash over President Joe Biden's decision to issue a proclamation for "Transgender Visibility Day" on Easter Sunday. Arguing March 31 is always transgender visibility day and that the date for Easter changes every year, Jean Pierre claimed lawmakers and reporters were spreading misinformation about the situation. She also touted Biden's celebration of Easter as a Christian. President Biden has discretion to issue or not issue recurring proclamations, especially when the context or timing is inappropriate -- a fact his press secretary failed to mention.
RINO Representative Mike Gallagher (WI) announced ten days ago that he will exit the House as early as next month.
Gallagher, who is currently serving as the chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, last month announced that he will not seek reelection.
Instead of serving out the rest of his term, Gallagher will retire early leaving the GOP with a one-vote majority!

The next president of United States should be a transgender “woman,” according to comedian Ramy Youssef.
During his opening monologue on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, host Ramy Youssef appeared to be mostly sincere when he said he wants a “trans woman” to occupy the White House. He later mocked Trump supporters and asked God to “free the people of Palestine.” Youssef’s opening coincided with President Joe Biden recently declaring Easter Sunday as “Transgender Day of Visibility.”
“I really think our next president should be a woman. You know what I mean?” Youssef said to enthusiastic applause from the live audience, adding, “I think our next president should be a trans woman.”

Canada’s Niagra Falls region has declared a state of emergency to prepare for the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8th.
In a press release, Niagra Regional Chair Jim Bradley said he issued a state of emergency “out of an abundance of caution.”
Bradley continued in the press release, “Declaring a State of Emergency under the EMCPA strengthens the tools the Region has at its disposal to safeguard the health and safety of residents and visitors and protect our critical infrastructure in any scenario that might arise.”

For those of you who celebrate this sacred day, Happy Easter. For those who don’t, most Americans appreciate that it is the holiest day of the year for you and treat it with civilized respect.
To the President who claims he is a Catholic in good standing, it’s just another day to poke his fingers in your eyes. Yes, the White House is hosting the traditional easter egg rolling event, but it has banned all religious symbols at the event, and in a proclamation dated, “in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-four” announced that this day, March 31, is “Transgender Day of Visibility.”
“Squad” member Rep. Jamaal Bowman blasted Benjamin Netanyahu as a “maniac” on Saturday while branding the Israeli Prime Minister an obstacle to peace in the Gaza Strip and backing Sen. Chuck Schumer’s call for a new election in Israel.
Bowman (D-NY), who has been a steadfast supporter of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, said he was “100%” behind Schumer amid the Senate Majority Leader’s calls to have Netanyahu removed from office as the Palestinian death count rises.
