Russia is trying to develop a nuclear space weapon that would destroy satellites by creating a massive energy wave when detonated, potentially crippling a vast swath of the commercial and government satellites that the world below depends on to talk on cell phones, pay bills, and surf the internet, according to three sources familiar with US intelligence about the weapon.
These sources gave CNN a more detailed understanding of what Russia is working on – and the threat it could pose – than the US government has previously disclosed.
Republican Rep. Mike Turner of Ohio, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, set off a frenzy in

W/Jim Sciutto, Kristin Fisher and Natasha Bertrand.
About 15 minutes ago the New York Times published an article stating that the US is using China and India as intermediaries with Russia (because Putin holds the US in contemt), warning them of the danger to their satellite systems. The US agencies are warning that Russia is preparing an upcoming launch that may place a nuke in low earth orbit, folling concerning satellite launches in 2022.

This narrative is a bald-faced attempt to sway support for sending more pallets of cash to Ukraine. Which, of course, raises the question, "How do space nukes have any relevance to Ukraine?"

Yeah, it's all "grins and giggles with silly Ruskies" until the EMP takes out the US power grids. But hey, everybody knows that space weapons can't be aimed at Earth; that's why they're called "space" weapons, right? Right?

So a Republican makes a vague reference that Russia is working on a dangerous weapon ... and he's a BAD GUY for endangering intelligence sources. But he never said what it was, never gave any details at all. Then The HairSniffer goes out and blabs about it, and that's OK, then "three sources familiar with US intelligence about the weapon" violate their security oaths and blab to CNN, giving much more detail -which of course will help the Russians track down who on their side was giving information to the American government, putting that person's life at risk.... but that's OK, because CNN got a story out of it and made some money.
Jeez, these CNN and Democ'RAT people are CROOKS!

Aaah, would not that EMP also wipe out Russian satellites? It’s not exactly a precision weapon.

Implying that the U.S. hasn't been developing the exact same kind of weapon. We know China has tested missile technology to destroy satellites and those tests have been successful.

The concept of 'killer satellites" and detonating a weapon in space to create an electro magnetic pulse weapon are not new.
It was a plot device in the Clint Eastwood film called "Space Cowboys" with Donald Sutherland and James Garner.

It's called Electro Magnetic Pulse. Light a nuke off in the atmosphere and anything solid state is dead.
