The Christian season of Lent always triggers the anti-God squad, and 2024 is no different, with limelight-seeking atheists trotting out the tired “Jesus never existed” thesis in preparation for Holy Week.
Writing in Aeon, professional provocateur Gavin Evans leads the band of God-slayers with his February 15 article, entitled “There Was No Jesus,” rehashing old arguments that Jesus was the invention of a group of unscrupulous hucksters who sought to create a religion around a myth of their own creation.
The gist of Evans’ plodding 4,100-word piece is that “a cult leader who drew crowds, inspired devoted followers and was executed on the order of a Roman governor”

He can think what he wants to, write what he wants to. And I can choose to ignore him. I have enough things to deal with. Don't need to add this guy to my plate.

Ignorant fools and ignorant of history. One may argue with that history promulgated by Christ's followers but theirs is not the only historical source of Jesus' existence. Josephus anyone?

True faith does require "proof", otherwise it's wishful and hopeful thinking, at best. Even St. Paul made the point that if Christ were not actuality risen - if the body were to be produced - then our faith would be in vain. But there is proof for those who actually want it. Much proof. Even if a person wanted to reject Christ, to deny he even existed is pretty stupid, really.

Yeah right. WGAS what the atheists think. They can think that the Earth is flat as well. Do they also believe that Mohammed was non-existent? Hey Evans, go to Mecca and express those thoughts to the disciples of Islam and see what happens. Both existed and are documented.

Jesus definitely existed. Whether or not he was God or the son of God is the rub.
Does it really matter? Following his teachings is the right thing to do.

Faith in Jesus is a gift of the Holy Spirit conferred on us through the Word! Without this faith, Christianity is folly! With this faith life becomes meaningful and forever hopeful and peaceful!

#5~ “...Whether or not he was God or the Son of God is the rub. Does it really matter?...” / Yes, Jesus IS the Son of God and it matters. If one believes God exists, and if one believes that all Scripture is the inerrant Word of God, Scripture reveals/teaches Jesus is the Son of God. Scripture interprets Scripture.
Matthew 3:16-17 (The Baptism of Jesus) ~ “And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, ‘THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, with whom I am well pleased.’”
Matthew 17:5 (The Transfiguration) ~ “He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
Mark 5:7,13 (Jesus heals a man with a demon) ~ “And crying out with a loud voice, he said, ‘What have you to do with me, JESUS, SON OF THE MOST HIGH GOD? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.’” ... “So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea.”
Luke 9:35 (The Transfiguration) ~ “And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, my chosen one; listen to him!’”
John 1:14 ~ “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of THE ONLY SON FROM THE FATHER, full of grace and truth.”
John 14:6 ~ “JESUS SAID TO HIM, ‘I AM THE WAY, AND THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.’”
Yes, Jesus IS the Son of God and it matters: “Those who trust in Jesus as their Savior will rise to eternal life in heaven. Those who deny Jesus and live in their sin will be cast out of His presence to hell.”

Poor fools, after death they will get to question the veracity of Jesus Christ to that Man seated in a Great White Throne.
The Chinese Communists have done such a good job brainwashing this nation's children into gender dysphoria and white Christian hate through the Federal Department of Education and the Media in this country.

Good luck with that.

Of course, you could also say that none of those apostles ever existed. Assuming they did, what would cause all of those apostles who were initially quite timid to become martyrs.

Philippians 2: 10 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

People who have read and studied the Bible are aware of these verses. (There are countless more.)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son...
Both written by the apostle John, an eyewitness to Jesus. BTW, most apostles died a martyr's death.
Who dies for something he knows is false?

It's a lot easier to prove Jesus is a historic person that to prove He came out of that Tomb. This guy's argument is just one of the many false theories that He didnt exist and didnt Raise and didnt Save everyone who Faithes in His Work. This is one of the same old theories used for the last 2000 years. Denies Christ. Enjoy this life, Dr Tommy, your next one wont be fun; but it will ultimately make you change your mind about Christ.

You cant prove a negative. Someday it may be proven to a certainty that he existed, but it is impossible to prove he didnt.

Jesus died for the sins of the world; Satan demands the world die for his.

Of course they do. If Jesus exists there is morality and a need for forgiveness. They wretch at the idea. they want to be god of themselves. If Jesus exists, so does judgement. And they hate the idea of anyone with the power and authority to judge them.

All four Canonical Gospels state that during Jesus's Last Supper with his disciples, he predicted that Peter would deny knowledge of him, stating that Peter would disown him thrice, before the rooster crowed the next morning. Following the arrest of Jesus, Peter denied knowing him three times, but after the third denial, he heard the rooster crow and recalled the prediction as Jesus turned to look at him. Peter then began to cry bitterly. This final incident is known as the Repentance of Peter. Peter had forgotten that he was a weak man, and that without God’s grace he could not remain faithful.

Yet all THREE major religions of the region, and of the world, The Jews, The Muslims, and obviously the Christians ALL acknowledge him, and to varying degrees venerate him..
Even if you claim he was merely a "Philosopher", Is there anything "Harmful" to anyone, or to society as a whole, in any of his teachings?
