Walmart, the largest retailer in the United States, has announced its decision to stop advertising on Elon Musk’s X/Twitter.
Bloomberg reports that Walmart is discontinuing its advertisements on Elon Musk’s X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter. This decision positions Walmart on the growing list of major companies that have recently chosen to withdraw advertising from the platform.A Walmart spokeswoman informed Bloomberg News that the company is shifting its advertising strategy to other platforms which it believes will more effectively reach their customer base. “We aren’t advertising on X as we’ve found other platforms to better reach our customers,”

They will find few places on the net that reach anywhere near as many of their target audience.
TikTok is mostly kids who don't make buying decisions. And I assume they're already in Facebook.
That's it. Good luck.

Sigh....another betrayal.
I'm sure many here recall standing in defense of Walmart when the Lefties denigrated it as a shopping mecca for flyover rednecks who, out of necessity and/or preference, shopped there for good buys.
Also now on the list is Chick-fil-A. I drove many miles to find one to make a purchase in support of their stand on social issues.
And, maybe the worst of the lot: Darth Cheney. My goodness, so many of us strongly supported what, back then, was seen as his fearless strength in the face of relentless attack. Now, bad enough that he is just another backstabbing ingrate, but his evil spawn is spreading her filth and duplicity on any open media she can find, spitting in our faces.
Many more names/institutions can be added to this list, but I'd be remiss not to mention Romney and Ryan. Openly advertising their loathing of our values and showing zero respect for the support we so fully honored them with as our candidates, they probably deserve their own list.

I needed a good excuse to stop patronizing Walmart. Other than to avoid getting run over by the obese people on the beep-beep mini trucks in the aisles.

This may be the end of the line for X, formerly Twitter. You can bet that the goverment is behind the Media Matter hoax and pressure on their largest advertisers to leave the platform. The government can't have a free speech platform operating with X's influence without subservience to DHS censorship and propaganda. Prior to Musk acquiring Twitter, they were secretly funded (and run) by the government with free access to government servers and databases. No more. Now they have billions in debt to service and hundreds of millions in costs for contracts to Google and Amazon for the use of their servers. This is a takedown, probably all for the outcome of the 2024 election.

Never like Walmart in the first place. I avoid it as much as possible. Too large. Usually too crowded. Makes for a negative shopping experience.

Another reason to stay away from the place. I bet the old man Walton is rolling in his grave now that his family have lost their minds and gone "Woke". When will companies learn to stay out of controversial issues?

I am very disappointed by this action of Walmart. I thought they were an American company in business to provide the goods and services their customers wanted. There is no need for them to veer off into politics. While on the topic, I am puzzled by these companies removing their advertising from X because when I browse X I see no ads.

Walmart should get back to running its business, and leave the politics out of its business.

Sam Walton founded WalMart and was proud that all things in his store were built in America. Then when cost of living went up he reluctantly said some things would be from overseas like in China. His heirs seem to have just abandoned the concept of trying to find made in America items. They have gone from a place for middle class people to shop and get good quality at a reasonable price to a Dollar General on a large scale. Not that Dollar General doesn't provide to its customers... it not what WalMart was suppose to be.

By the time it's all said and done, Wal Mart will be begging X to advertise on THEIR site.

That's fine with me, Walmart and your high powered management. In our area Meijer stores present a nice option to Walmart. That's where I will be shopping entirely from this day forward.
