The organization that operates Texas’ electric grid has warned of potential forced power outages this year if temperatures drop to below freezing like they did last year.
According to The Dallas Morning News, “when Texas’ power demand outstrips available supply,” the organization — the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) — “is forced to shut off power to some customers to maintain the stability of the grid.”
The Morning News reported on Thursday that ERCOT has predicted there’s a 14.4 percent chance that these controlled outages — known as rolling blackouts — will be required this year if temperatures drop to the levels seen last year.

Hamas terror leader Ismail Haniyeh graciously thanked the world’s most prolific state sponsor of terrorism, Iran, on Thursday for its “firm support” against the ongoing military operation by Israel to eradicate the group in its stronghold of Gaza.
Haniyeh appeared to credit Tehran’s theocratic rulers for playing a role in an agreement with the Israeli government to pause the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operations in Gaza and free some convicted terrorists in exchange for Hamas freeing some Israeli hostages.

It's been an interesting day for Joe Biden. As we've reported, he's in Nantucket for his Thanksgiving vacation, staying at a billionaire's estate.
On Thursday, people were raising questions about a picture of the Biden family taking a polar plunge on Wednesday. Many wondered if Joe had taken the plunge, especially since the picture showed him in sneakers with perfectly coiffed hair. A Democratic strategist also spread a pic of Biden in the water, but that picture was several years old.

Residents of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) were shocked early this week when illegal aliens who got in line before they did for free Thanksgiving dinners given away by local food banks left many low-income citizens without a holiday meal this year.
Reports say that residents of the NYCHA were told when to line up for their turkey dinner and fixings delivery, but when they arrived at the appointed time, they found hundreds of illegals already at the head of the line, according to WNYW-TV.
Queensbridge Housing resident Georgia Butler, for one, was disgusted after losing out to illegals at this year’s food bank give away and noted that illegals

Thirteen Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas were yesterday freed after a seven-week nightmare – as their country vowed to wipe out the terrorists.
The nine women and four children were released after the warring sides signed a Qatari-negotiated, four-day ceasefire which began at 7am local time.
Just over nine hours later – and with the pause still holding – the first hostages were handed over to the Red Cross at the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza. The exchange happened half an hour later than scheduled, adding to the anxiety of families waiting in Israel for news.

Columbus, Ohio—Ohio’s new constitutional protections for abortion access and other reproductive rights take effect Dec. 7, a month after voters resoundingly passed them. How and when their impacts are felt remains unclear.
Existing abortion-related lawsuits are moving again through the courts now that voters have decided the issue, raising questions about implementation.
The amendment declared an individual’s right to “make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions” and passed with a strong 57% majority. It was the seventh straight victory in statewide votes for supporters of abortion access nationally since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned constitutional protections.

The percentage of voters who believe in the American dream, the idea that working hard brings more success, has dramatically decreased over the past decade, according to a poll published on Friday.
About a third of voters, 36%, said the once-popular ethos holds true, per the poll, which was conducted in October by the Wall Street Journal and University of Chicago. That is roughly half of the percentage who believed in the American dream last year, the Wall Street Journal found. Similar polls found that a majority of voters, 53%, believed in the American dream in 2012 and that 46% believed in it in 2016.
The poll defined the American dream as

Washington Post media reporter Paul Farhi is the most recent example of a journalist who sounds like his own colleagues are the “professionals” and the writers without the classic Old Media branding are the “non-pros,” people who don’t have standards.
Farhi began by tweeting: “Someone invented the phrase ‘citizen journalism’ a few years ago to describe amateurs doing the work of pros. Yes, it occasionally works, but probably no more often than “’citizen cop,’ ‘citizen attorney’ or ‘citizen soldier.’”
This quickly became a Twitter beach ball for conservatives. In response to one reply, he qualified it a little: “I’d never argue that professional journalists are flawless.

House Speaker Mike Johnson says his favorite Bible passage is a psalm.
During an interview last month with The Daily Signal, Johnson, who was elected Speaker on Oct. 25, discussed how his Christian faith shapes his politics.
He also spoke about the importance of treating opponents with dignity and respect while holding to the truth.
“I love Psalm 37,” said Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana. “I would call that my life’s passage. The whole psalm. It’s great, and it’s so applicable to these times.
