Israeli forces continued their advances into Gaza Sunday as paratroopers and armored units took over the Gaza City neighborhoods of Sheikh Ijlin and Rimal and commandeered Hamas terrorists’ luxury homes as well as parliament and police headquarters. They found multiple weapons and entrances to the terrorists’ extensive tunnel network:
Much of the once-affluent area was already leveled by Israeli air strikes since the war began last month, but the Israel Defense Forces said it still encountered several Hamas operatives in Sheikh Ijlin and Rimal and killed them while also raiding some wealthy terrorist homes.

An NBC journalist was arrested on Thursday in Israel for allegedly inciting terrorism and expressing affiliation with Hamas.
"Marwat Al-Azza, a 45-year-old journalist, employed by the NBC television network and living in east Jerusalem, was arrested after four recent posts on her personal Facebook page regarding the October 7 terror attack by Hamas from the Gaza Strip, in which at least 1,200 people were murdered and 240 taken hostage,” reports the Jerusalem Post. “The police claim that Al-Azza 'arrived ready for arrest,' without a mobile phone, and even wrote phone numbers on her leg." Al-Azza, a Palestinian freelance journalist, reportedly mocked the kidnapping of an elderly Israeli woman in Gaza.

Javier Milei, a volatile far-right libertarian who has vowed to “exterminate” inflation and take a chainsaw to the state, has been elected president of Argentina, catapulting South America’s number two economy into an unpredictable and potentially turbulent future.
With nearly 90% of votes counted, the Mick Jagger impersonating TV celebrity-turned politician, who is often compared to Donald Trump, had secured nearly 56% of the vote compared to Massa’s 44.1%.
Milei’s rival, the centre-left finance minister Sergio Massa, conceded defeat in a press conference on Sunday night.
“Argentinians have chosen another path,” said Massa, who said he had called Milei to congratulate him on his victory and would retire from frontline politics.

Wall Street financiers are looking to Nikki Haley as the candidate to pull the 2024 Republican nomination away from former President Donald Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Haley is currently placing third in national polling at 9.5% behind Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida at 14.3% and Trump at 59.7%, according to Real Clear Politics. Despite this, Wall Street is considering Haley as a viable alternative to Trump in the 2024 primaries, with some saying that they are “desperate” to keep the former president from becoming the nominee, according to the WSJ.

Rosalynn Carter, who as first lady worked tirelessly on behalf of mental health reform and professionalized the role of the president’s spouse, died Sunday at the age of 96, according to the Carter Center.
Carter passed away peacefully with family by her side at her home in Plains, Georgia, the center said in a statement.
“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, said in a statement. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

EDINGURG, Texas — Texas Governor Greg Abbott endorsed former President Donald Trump in his race to become Republican nominee for President of the United States.
“You need new president,” Abbott said to the mayors of New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. on Sunday. “Joe Biden has failed at national security. We need a president that will secure the border.”
“We need Donald J. Trump back as our president of the United States of America,” Abbott said. “I’m here today to officially proclaim my endorsement for Donald J. Trump to be President of the United States of America, again.”
Trump responded, saying to Abbott, “I am going to

Hundreds of ceasefire activists marched on the California Democratic Convention being held in Sacramento at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center on Saturday. Meanwhile, inside, demonstrators held a sit-in and chanted for a ceasefire as they shouted down the speeches of Rep.Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA). They demanded a ceasefire with the threat, "In November, we will remember." They went all in with the antisemitism, chanting, "From the river to the sea." They were booted out of the convention hall to the lobby, where they had a sit-in. But then, if that wasn't enough, there was a security breach of the building. Security teams

Electric vehicles have been around for 100 years or so. They lost out to gasoline powered cars because gasoline powered cars are better. Is that ever going to change? At the Telegraph, Michael Kelly draws an analogy to the Concorde:
The man in the street has failed to embrace BEVs for the same reason he failed to embrace Concorde nearly 50 years ago: the extra cost – of order £10,000 per vehicle – represents an insurmountable barrier. People might pay the extra if they were getting something better in performance terms, but range anxiety and the lack of convenient recharging infrastructure remain formidable hurdles. Insurance costs are high too,

The Washington Post reported Saturday night (in Israel, Sunday morning) that a tentative deal had been reached in which there would be a five-day pause in fighting in Gaza in exchange for the release of at least 50 female and child hostages by Hamas.
No men would be released under the deal, and no male or female soldiers, according to the Post, which cited unnamed officials describing an agreement brokered by the U.S. and Qatar as intermediaries between Israel and the Hamas terror organization.

JERUSALEM, Israel — Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant vowed Saturday night that all Hamas operatives would be killed — including those outside Gaza, sheltering in comfortable exile in Arab states like Qatar.
“There is no difference between a terrorist who walks around with a Kalashnikov … and a terrorist who wears a three-piece suit and walks around in another part of the world,” Gallant told a press conference, as the war entered its seventh week. “All of them are dead men walking.”
Gallant’s remarks hinted at the kinds of targeted killing that the Israeli security services carried out after previous terror attacks, such as the massacre of Israeli athletes

At an internal employee town hall on Oct. 25, Univision CEO Wade Davis sat across from respected anchor Jorge Ramos — no stranger to tough questions — and was asked if job cuts were coming to Univision.
Before answering, Davis reached for a glass of water with a shaking hand, in full view of employees who already knew the answer.
The inner workings and supposed political leanings of the legendary Univision network, now part of TelevisaUnivision after a merger with the Mexican media giant closed in January 2022, have burst into public view after the network conducted an interview with former president Donald Trump this month that Democrats saw as a softball

Sure, your daughter slings a mean pack of Do-si-dos, but how's her anti-KKK game? The Girls Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) aims to ensure it's badge-worthy.
In case you're unfamiliar, "antiracism" isn't the mere absence of prejudice. Rather, it identifies people as oppressors or victims -- the former category being congenitally Caucasian. UCLA Law Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw puts it this way:
“Antiracism is the active dismantling of systems, privileges, and everyday practices that reinforce and normalize the contemporary dimensions of white dominance. This, of course, also involves a critical understanding of the history of whiteness in America.”
