An initial investigation into a massive fire at a homeless encampment beneath an underpass in downtown Los Angeles that shut down the Interstate 10 indefinitely has already determined arson was responsible.
Downtown workers have since been told to stay home and telecommute or use public transport in lieu of getting into their cars with delays forecast to spike everywhere across the heavily car-dependent metropolis.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday, “This fire occurred within the fence line … that it was arson and that it was done and set intentionally.”
UPI reports detectives with CalFire are still working to determine who set the blaze which has closed the essential piece of infrastructure.

It's way dangerous out there. So why don't we all stay home, just like for the G**k Flu? I doubt Obiden would object this time, either.

I heard of a California fireman say most CA fires, in the city or wildfires, are from the homeless, but they aren't allowed to say so

Presume they need to ensure it's arson because people are upset they have an even worse commute so easier to blame some "arsonist".
My guess, it's a homeless fire that got out of control and people would blame the gov't officials for not doing enough on that issue too.

Congratulations, Gavin, as the destruction of your state continues. The place has really deteriorated
Into a hellhole from the northern border to the southern border. But you’re more interested in
GQ shots in China and snuggling up to communist dictators. Dear Lord what a narcissist. Your preening is offensive. Have you ever made a choice or signed a law that actually benefits all the people of your state?

Post Covid play book! So what is next? Huge inclusions and extensions of unemployment compensation? Vociferous cat calls for 15 minute (WALKABLE) cities? Work from home - don't traverse our dangerous streets! Leftists are grinning and giving each other high fives. Not to mention the handicapping of the ports of LA and Long Beach - whats not to like from the leftist mindset?

Gavin apparently wants to show the dems that he has all the character and qualities required to make him their perfect candidate in 2024. After all as #8 mentioned dems are proficient at turning their cities into hellscapes. That talent, more than anything else, is resume enhancer #1 for their party. He's practically got the job!!!

I believe there have been other overpass fires. In Florida we have suspicious brush fires, and after the first one there are usually a few more.

When the freeways were under repair and extended there were stockpiles everywhere. I went down there last 3 months and they are still piled up. Yes, time for cleanup.

How utterly stupid are the people who voted for the Democrats at every level who keep letting in millions of "young men of military age and unknown intentions" into this country? What did they think was going to be the outcome of their crazy sanctuary policy?

A number of these areas are leased to what are effectively junk yards full of wrecked cars, pallets, junk. The lessee of this one (and maybe others) is in serious default on his lease with the state. Subleases that were never approved, nonpayment of rents and on and on. I am not looking at the nearby homeless,

The lease to the property where the fire started is held by Apex Development, according to Newsom, who accused the company of being in violation of the lease.
“They stopped paying their rent, they’re out of compliance, and … they have been subleasing this site to at least five, maybe as many as six tenants” without required state and federal authorization, Newsom said Monday.
The state has been in a “litigious posture” with the company “for some time,” the governor said, noting state prosecutors will face Apex Development in court early next year.
CNN has sought comment from Apex Development.

Concrete does not stand up well to sustained, intensive heat, and the closeups I've seen of damage to the columns and roadway seem to bear this out. I predict that the entire affected area will need to be demolished and replaced, with typical California delays and cost overruns. It could be out of service for years.
Nuisance says this fire was deliberately set. How many more like it are coming?
