Pop star Pink says she will be giving away 2,000 banned books at two of her South Florida concerts this week in order to draw attention to the recent wave of censorship laws that impact American schools and libraries. The musician announced she is teaming up with PEN America to combat what the nonprofit calls a "book-banning crisis across the country." That means fans who attend Pink's Miami and Sunrise, Florida, shows on Tuesday and Wednesday will be given a copy of some of the books that have appeared on PEN America's Index of Banned Books — many of which refer to things like sexuality, gender, race, religion and more.

Who’ll pick them up off the ground and put them in the trash? Bill her (him/it) for it.

The only books being restricted (not banned) are explicit topics that few people believe should be targeted at grades K-3.

Well, if she can legally give them away, they are not banned. They are age restricted, just like R and X rated movies. No one calls these movies “banned”.

Will The Gideons be there to pass them out?

Don't you need a permit to hand out this stuff? If any of the audience is underage, Pink could be reasonably arrested for contributing to the delinquency of minors.

I worked in a public school library for 21 years. You can not expect a school library to have the funds to have several copies of every book ever written. The first though as a librarian is "is the book age appropriate". Books about overt sexuality is never appropriate for an elementary school. And some books lean close to porn in words and pictures. I have better choices to make with my money. These books are not banned just because they are not in the school library. You can go to a public library or purchase a copy from a bookstore or even Amazon. It can be found, purchased or checked out, read and returned or passed on to someone else. Or keep it for your own library.

Like the cars Oprah gave away, these are excess inventory that are easily found in large numbers. How long will this charade continue?

Pink like so many other radical democrats just does not want to grow up and be responsible adults. They still wallow in their teenage rebellion years well into their dotage. No responsible adult would ever believe these books are appropriate for children. Society is so depraved that these rock stars and entertainment twits really have to go out on a limb to find something so debauched that it shocks people. Well, this clearly is that issue. Put porn into the hands of children is reprehensible. Rebel all you want, sister, but your stance against a normal and wholesome childhood for our kids exposes you as nothing more than an opportunist who is using children to make herself relevant.

The books that the left say are being banned, aren’t. They are simply removed from school/public libraries for younger children. They can still be accessed by older children and adults, and can be purchased at any time. Notice how these “banned books” never include books that the left want banned: Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc. They are wailing about sexually-explicit, usually gay or trans material. This is what the left fights for.
