NBCUniversal’s Peacock lost more than half a billion dollars during the three months of summer, the latest example of Hollywood’s streaming carnage that has seen studios struggling to carve out a profitable piece of the home video market. (snip)
For the year so far, Peacock’s losses amount to $1.92 billion. (snip) Peacock serves as the streaming home to some of the far-left MSNBC’s programming, including The Reid Out, hosted by Joy Reid.
The streamer also produces The Mehdi Hasan Show. (snip) Disney reported its streaming business — including Disney+ and Hulu — lost $512 million for the fiscal third quarter, while Paramount+ lost $424 million for the same period.

No idea what programs are on this network. The only thing I watch on there is On Patrol: Live, on Friday and Saturday nights. And I leech off my brother's account.

For a very simple reason. Their service forces you to watch commercials even if you buy the premium package that is suppose to stop ads.

Rats! That's one of the installed buttons on my amazon fire cube remote. I have decided not to pay for anything on the internet until I've watched everything that's free.

I've watched the soap Days Of Our Lives for over 40 years and yes I still do. You would not believe how disgusting it's gotten. A little girl saw two men having sex. The dresses on the women basically have no front. Pretty much half the characters are gay/lesbian. Yes I still watch but there is the fast forward button and half the time I fast forward the show. But I don't get commercials. They helped themselves to extra money from my account (now pay $12/mo.) and I don't get them and I gladly pay not to. But we all kept asking how is Peacock still functioning with the awful programming. Now we know they aren't. Couldn't happen to a better bunch.

FTA: ''For the year so far, Peacock’s losses amount to $1.92 billion.''
The thing about it is they KNOW that loss is due to absolutely horrible programming, but being stupid liberals they will NEVER admit that and will continue on with their insane ways. Good. Pour more money into your losing network.

I can't think of anything that I would pay a monthly fee to stream.

How can a company continue to lose that kind of money? Where does the inflow come from?

I think the new generation of writers has run out of good ideas or have never had them because their focus on the various flavors of LGBTQ is all they've got. Even some of the comedies are not suitable for children. It takes a great writer to make an impression on viewers and one example is Chuck Lorre of Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon fame. The shows are very funny, made in good taste and geared to a certain level of intelligence. The streaming services either have a lineup of incredibly lousy shows or consist of all old content in TV and movies that you have already seen. To charge for a service and then dump in a bunch of tasteless commercials is the ultimate formula for sticking it to the customer. The "free" programming on cable or satellite is packed with at least 40% of the time taken up by ads, most of them for drugs. Never tried Peacock, never will.
I agree with #6. Once in a while I walk into the room when my wife is watching the soaps and the clothing and sexual behavior is in bad taste. Back in the day, they used to be entertaining as well as useful guides to behavior and relationships. Now they are all LGBTQ, mixed race and every one has children in the cast. Who wants to hear somebody else's children talk?

My wife and I signed up for YouTubeTV to watch the baseball playoffs and World Series. I ventured into the moras that is mainstream television. What a cesspool of stupidity. They are running the same crap they were running 25 years ago. It is worthless. The fact that value is assigned to 90% of it is amazing.

All these network subscription services. $60/year for each of them. And each one has about one program I want to watch. And over the air (OTA) is free and has 90% of what I watch. At least Prime gives me a discount on my shipping costs and I buy a lot from them on line. And the FCC is doing everything it can to destroy OTA. I grew up 60 miles from Atlanta and watched OTA with rabbit ears. Now in that area with a roof top antenna my siblings can't get anything at all. Nothing! But I now live 20 miles from the towers. I used to be able to get everything with rabbit ears in my living room. Now I must have a roof top antenna and it only works because of the geography of my yard. My next door neighbors can't get anything at all with a roof top. And I just heard the FCC has approved a new system where you have to pay for each OTA channel. I get 60 channels. That's the end of OTA.
Same thing with web pages. They also want 60 to 100$/year. Yet there are at least 15 or 20 web pages I go to everyday. And another 30 I go to perhaps once per month at most. I could easily spend one to two thousand a year on web pages.
I have an idea for a new web page model. You pay a fee for some number of articles. Then each time you go to one it subtracts one from that number. Pay 10$ to the NYT. Read 10 or 20 articles and that $10 is used up. It would take me a couple years at least. Or how about a clearing service? Pay one fee and you can get some total number of articles from a bunch of websites.

You will NEVER have to pay one cent because there is enough free material to last you two life times. The MSM outlets should PAY US to watch their programs.

Not surprised. The programs are woke and uninteresting. You get these messages about diversity and far right people until you get angry and change the channel.
