President Joe Biden called the mass-shooting in Maine 'another senseless and tragic mass shooting' and urged residents to 'heed the warnings and guidance of local officials' as the suspect remains at large.
He also said the federal government wasn't doing enough to deter such events and called on Republicans in Congress to work with him on legislation to ban assault rifles and expand background checks.
'Today, in the wake of yet another tragedy, I urge Republican lawmakers in Congress to fulfill their duty to protect the American people. Work with us to pass a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) joined the War Room with Steve Bannon on Wednesday morning following the voting last evening for the next Republican Speaker-designate.
During their conversation Matt Gaetz revealed the devious actions of the Old Guard Republicans in their attempts to derail Mike Johnson’s vote.
According to Matt Gaetz, Kevin McCarthy was hiding in the background actively working to sabotage the candidates who were running to replace him.

Actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed Wednesday he is convinced his own skills and leadership abilities would combine to make him a “great” U.S. president.
“I feel like I would make a great president,” the unabashed 75-year-old said in an interview with the BBC. “But I feel that, at the same time, everything I’ve accomplished was because of America.” Schwarzenegger is barred from running because he was born in Austria, where he lived until he was 19. The U.S. Constitution specifies the holder of the highest office in the land must be a “natural-born citizen.”

NEW YORK -- Mayor Eric Adams made a stunning announcement Tuesday on the city's asylum seeker crisis housing crunch. He said it is so severe he's actively planning for the day migrants will have to sleep outside. The mayor did not utter the words "asylum seekers will be sleeping in Central Park," but because the city has had to close a number of shelters in recent weeks because they did not meet the fire code, he said he's now looking for large outdoor spaces where asylum seekers can live. "I don't know how to get this any clearer. When you are

Israel has agreed to delay its impending ground invasion of Gaza until the U.S. can establish air defenses to protect U.S. troops throughout the region.
The Pentagon has requested that Israel hold off until they can deploy nearly a dozen air-defense systems to the region, the Wall Street Journal first reported. The missile deployments, which are expected to be completed in the coming days, are intended to shield U.S. troops serving in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates from enemy rockets and missiles. While the status of humanitarian aid available to Gazans and the release of hostages are still national concerns

The embarrassing impasse in the House of Representatives has finally ended, as Louisiana’s Mike Johnson has been elected Speaker. So, who is Mike Johnson, and why was he finally able to succeed where several more notable House members failed?
I suspect that the answer has more to do with desperation than anything else. The Republican Party was made to look ridiculous, not so much by the party’s divisions as by the utter lack of party loyalty and discipline that was revealed by one failed vote after another. Most likely, Republicans coalesced behind Johnson–a little-known commodity, who has never been a committee chairman–to stop the bleeding.

Before Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson officially became Speaker of the House on Wednesday, there was the seven-person pre-game panel on CNN’s Inside Politics. One of those panelists, senior political analyst Gloria Borger, was forced to concede that despite being “hugely conservative,” Johnson is “not the devil incarnate.”
Borger’s remarks as she recalled Reps. Jim Jordan and Tom Emmer’s failed bids, “I think he is a person who’s hard to demonize. You know, it's very easy to demonize somebody like a Jim Jordan, who’s a fire brand. He's out there and fighting and then Donald Trump can demonize an [Tom] Emmer because he didn't believe the election was rigged.”

A massive manhunt is underway in Maine for an Army reserve firearms instructor who was sectioned this summer for mental health reasons, and is suspected of shooting dead 22 people on Wednesday night at multiple sites in Lewiston.
Robert Card, 40, from Bowdoin, Maine, was named by Maine state police as the suspect in the shootings at a bowling alley, restaurant and Walmart distribution center.
He was sectioned after saying he was hearing voices, and threatening to shoot up the National Guard base in Saco, Maine.

A little more than a year after announcing an ambitious plan to co-develop a lineup of affordable electric vehicles, General Motors and Honda are scrapping the deal — or at least just that one aspect of the deal. Announced in April 2022, the plan was to build a series of affordable EVs on GM’s flexible EV platform with its Ultium-branded battery packs. At the time, GM and Honda said they expected to begin production of “millions” of these affordable EVs by 2027. “After studying this for a year, we decided that this would be difficult as a business, so at the moment, we are ending development of an affordable EV,”

A new study out of Norway is exactly what was needed to shut down the climate alarmists. Its findings show that man has not set fire to his home planet.
Right from the top, in the abstract not 10 lines into the study, the authors get to the point.
“Using theoretical arguments and statistical tests we find,” the researchers say, “that the effect of man-made CO2 emissions does not appear to be strong enough to cause systematic changes in the temperature fluctuations during the last 200 years.”
In other words, our words, the greenhouse effect is so weak

The superintendent of a New Jersey school district banned official school-wide Halloween celebrations under the guise of “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” claiming the festivities may offend people from various cultural and religious backgrounds.
Families of students in the South Orange & Maplewood School District district received a letter on Oct. 6 from Dr. Ronald G. Taylor, the superintendent of SOMD, asking parents to reflect upon how school-sponsored Halloween celebrations exacerbate inequity.
