Calls are being made for Florida’s inspector general to investigate Disney World’s former special district board after allegations arose that members used millions in taxpayer funds for season passes and other perks, the New York Post reported. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District revealed to the inspector general Monday that members of the board that used to oversee Walt Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) allegedly spent more than $2 million in taxpayer funds last fiscal year on employee perks, the New York Post reported. Among the perks that members and employees reportedly enjoyed were tickets amounting to $492,382.96, as well as discounts on hotel stays, merchandise, and food and beverages.

Anyone who gets their hands into the taxpayer's pockets always spends it like a drunken sailor. OPM goes like water. And at least a drunken sailor is spending his own money, unlike these pukes.

Wow, I'm shocked, taxpayer funds being used to enrich those in charge of those funds? I didn't expect that.

The Vatican newspaper has slammed the U.S. for its southern border fence with a frontpage article decrying “that inhuman wire.” The L’Osservatore Romano piece is accompanied by a large photo of a young woman and a child attempting to crawl through the midst of razor wire, presumably in an effort to enter the United States illegally. “The suffering of the migrants who try to get through the barriers placed between Mexico and the United States,” reads the caption.

On Tuesday, a California church that had previously been ordered to pay over $1.2 million in fines to the state government filed a lawsuit in federal court, claiming that the local government spied on its worshippers. Fox News reports that the Calvary Chapel San Jose, led by Pastor Mike McClure, alleges that officials in Santa Clara County utilized the Colorado-based company SafeGraph to engage in “an invasive and warrantless geofencing operation to track residents” without their knowledge. The lawsuit was filed on the church’s behalf by the advocacy group Advocates for Faith & Freedom.

Go woke, go broke. That's what conservatives say, and unfortunately, sometimes it's just rhetoric that doesn't materialize. Still, there are times when the adage proves true. Enter Dick's Sporting Goods, the woke outdoor company that has prided itself on inserting itself into various cultural battles. As RedState reported, shareholders were greeted with bad news recently when it was revealed that Dick's saw a 23 percent drop in profit over the last quarter. That sent the company into a freefall. On August 21st, the stock price was $141. Two days later, it was at $108

America’s largest teachers union “coached” teachers on how to expose students to gender identity in the curriculum, according to a new report. The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) “coached its members on how to inject gender identity politics into classroom teaching,” said the report published Wednesday by the conservative Defense of Freedom Institute. (snip) The AFT along with the nation’s second largest union, the National Education Association (NEA), are both wholly committed to pushing radical gender ideology in schools, the report says. Together, the two largest teachers unions represent nearly five million public school teachers across the country.

Left-wing columnists are back on the attack against the movie The Blind Side, calling it racist and an example of “white savior” syndrome as the recriminations between ex-NFL player Michael Oher and the Tuohy family continue to echo in the press and soon in the courtroom. The renewed attack by liberals on the 2009 film came after ex-NFL player Michael Oher, who is black, filed a lawsuit alleging that the Tuohy family, who are white, withheld an unknown amount of money from him in profits from the film as well as lying to him about adopting him as a member of the family.

It may be August of 2023, but the media still can’t quit COVID alarmism. The latest COVID freak out came on Wednesday’s CNN This Morning as the assembled cast wondered whether it was time to bring back masks. Co-host Poppy Harlow got things started by asking, “With COVID cases rising, some people are masking up. You have probably seen that in your neighborhood, work, etcetera. What does it mean for you and what does it mean for people at higher risk of severe illness?” She then introduced chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and asked, “I keep thinking this,

Four fifths of New Yorkers say the recent influx of migrants is a 'serious problem' for the state, with many calling newcomers a 'burden' and souring on President Joe Biden's Democratic Party. Fully 82 percent of Empire State voters said the stream of some 100,000 asylum seekers was a concern, and more than half of them — 54 percent — said it was 'very serious,' a Siena College poll shows. When asked about the settling of migrants in New York these past two decades, nearly half of respondents — 46 percent — called them a 'burden' on resources. Less than a third called them a 'benefit.'

All eyes will be on Milwaukee tonight for the first Republican presidential primary debate. Despite more than eight years of brazen attacks on his opponents since riding down the golden escalator to announce his candidacy in 2015, Donald Trump has decided to sit out this debate. Unsurprisingly, the twice-impeached and now four-time indicted ex-president is, first and foremost, a swampy politician who won’t risk getting rhetorically pummeled by one of his challengers....As former Labor Secretary Robert Reich wrote in an essay last month, Bidenomics “is turning out to be the most successful set of economic policies the United States has witnessed in a half-century.”

Hawaii Democrat Governor Josh Green took to “Face the Nation” Sunday to agree with host Margaret Brennan’s assertion that climate change “amplified” Maui’s horrific wildfires. However, there were multiple failures on many fronts by authorities, including warning sirens that didn’t go off, delays of much-needed water because of “equity concerns,” negligence by a power company, and disaster officials who had no experience in emergency management. Green: "GOVERNOR JOSH GREEN: So it's usually tsunamis and hurricanes [that are a danger to Hawaii]. For perspective, we've had six fire emergencies this August. Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc.’s stock tumbled 22% Tuesday, after the retailer’s second-quarter profit missed consensus by a wide margin, while sales also fell short., and the company squarely blamed theft for its woes. It was the company’s first earnings miss in three years. The last time Dick’s missed profit and sales consensus was in April of 2020, when it was reporting first-quarter earnings for that year. “While we posted another double-digit EBT margin, our Q2 profitability was short of our expectations due in large part to the impact of elevated inventory shrink, an increasingly serious issue impacting many retailers,” said CEO Lauren Hobart in a statement.

A summer surge of COVID-19 has some wondering aloud if we should return to mask mandates. For now, the official line, despite the media effort to rekindle coronavirus hysteria, is that it’s unlikely. But we heard that before, in 2020, right before public health officials dropped their mask tyranny on us. If they do it again, we have an obligation to say no. Are we calling for civil disobedience? Are we suggesting that Americans resist orders that are not laws but are instead decrees issued by despots? Absolutely, and without reservation. Masks are dehumanizing.
