Fox News is considering showing video clips of Donald Trump during questions to other candidates at the upcoming GOP presidential primary debate, according to a new report.
The network's anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will moderate the debate on Wednesday in Milwaukee, which Trump has told aides he plans to skip in favor of an online interview with Tucker Carlson, according to the New York Times.
It Trump does counter-program the debate by appearing with Carlson, a former Fox News host now at odds with his old bosses, it would set up an epic battle for viewers during the first major event of the primary season.

So what are the " candidates " going to to , argue against a video clip that cannot respond? FOX is desperate.

The Murdoch family's insight into their viewers/customers appears to be about as savvy as the Euro company that purchased Anheuser-Busch.

I don't trust Fox news. I suspect a plot to distort President Trump's real positions on the issues.

Doesn't matter.
The audience will be small, and of 'small' people who hate the whole idea of MAGA.
Faux Noose will be preaching to the centrist-establishment choir.

one cheap shot after another from Fox against our President and to think ...6+ years ago our President was being interviewed on Fox & Friends a couple of times a week.
I haven't watched any of the other debates and don't plan on watching this debate either and
it's not the candidates it's the TV personalities who moderate who put stone in my shoe

This will not bode well for Fox. They are already losing viewers, seems like they have a death wish! They might just get it!

Since I am not an ostrich hiding my head in the sand, I will be watching the debate as I have in each electoral cycle. Showing videos of an absent Trump, if that indeed happens, is tacky and shouldn’t be done. Unfortunately Trump has absented himself so the moderators and participants are free to denigrate him anyway they wish.

Of course they will resort to this. They won't have the real deal there to use as a punching bag. Rupert's demand to Trump about 'he better show up' proves that it is all a setup. Not a very good one, but it is a setup.

That just means Fox is willing to give Donald Trump double coverage at no charge to Fox. How many apartments are available now that big ol' Fox is living rent free in Trump's head. Trump is too generous. It's his nature.

Seems to me this debate has become more of a get Trump exercise than actually what it is intended to be. Fox is like Bud Lite going out in a blaze of stubbornness and spite. Good luck with that. Your viewers have already abandoned you because of your systemic unfairness.

Who’s genius idea was this? It’s pathetic and kind of amusing. No one’s going to be interested in out of context quotes being presented from someone who isn’t there. Trump doesn’t take orders from Fox News or the GOP. He has his own base.

Trump is moving away from the Republican party. That's probably a good thing. The Republican party is screwing him almost as much as the Democrats. At least, Trump sees the Republican party as a problem, so he is aware of it.

So am I too conspiratorial to think that something might just happen to the Twitter feed (is that what it's called) preventing a true calculation of how many people watched it as opposed to the Fox fiasco? Or even that the Twitter thing will be shut down?
Just askin'.

Oh Fox is cute...acting like a spoiled brat...they plan to "manage" President Trump's words and managing to p____ off his supports even more...the Murdocks have been whipped by their wives into playing games with President Trump's words...not a surprise...the Murdocks are in trouble because lying Ryan and carl rove thought they could set up President Trump with "gotcha questions"...and when President Trump decided not to play their game...they started to scramble for some President Trump on their disastrous debate...even if it contrived and phony.....

I see this as Fox and GOPE making lemonade from lemons. They can take President Trump's statements out of context and twist them to whatever Fox wants to present . Fox can make sure the other candidates have access to what Fox is going to air of Trump's statements so candidates have time to form their own positions, with Fox knowing President Trump has no chance for rebuttal or clarification of his positions.
I'm still glad he isn't attending this clown show. Perhaps he and Tucker should have a follow-up show to clarify and shine light upon whatever lies the Fox debate tries to put in his mouth.

The only reason to watch a debate is to judge which candidate best matches my own ideas and opinions. I already know that Trump is the only one I trust and agree with most often. I won't be watching the cast of liars on Fox, but I will be watching the Tucker Carlson interview with Trump.

Rush said he wouldn't do interviews or debates. They try to make the subject look foolish through editing and leading questions.
We know what would happen if DJT joined the debate. Trump is in the lead - why endanger that?
