Megan Rapinoe and Necessary Schadenfreude

The United States Women’s National Soccer Team is out of the Women’s World Cup. You couldn’t have missed the story, the media was more invested in the team than some team members appeared to be – hyping their every move. But the dream is over, they lost to Sweden on penalty kicks. While the press laments their defeat, a lot of normal people, myself included, are either engaging in schadenfreude over the loss or desperately fighting the urge to. If you fall into the latter category, let it go. Sometimes schadenfreude is warranted and useful to prevent the need for much more of it in the future. Megan Rapinoe is

Gee, I hope poor li'l Megs isn't going sleepless over blowing her final game. A fitting dose of Karma if ever there were one. I read a funny reader comment after one of the many stories about the loss. The person said the USA should dump the whole team, replace it with 15 year-old boys who are transitioning, and we might have a chance.

On July 7, 2022 the Resident awarded the Presidential Medal of freedom to the appalling Rapinoe, which is equivalent to dumping on the award and all prior awardees the contents of a Port-o-Potty, topped with nuclear waste. That's how to ruin what used to go to the best, most exemplary Americans. Now the medal goes to a sexually immoral activist who obviously hates her country. For Biden and Obama--Obama is behind everything this administration does--to sully this award in such a manner is just one more strike against this anti-American cabal. What horrible people. May they all disappear from our lives in the most embarrassing ways.

On December 12, 2016 (or D12), the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign endorsed a call by Christine Pelosi, the daughter of then House Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi, as well as other electors to receive an “intelligence briefing” on how “Russian interference was performed to help Donald Trump get elected” from Obama’s Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Hillary Clinton and her senior campaign officials were aware that they had concocted the lie that the Russians had gotten Trump elected, outsourced it to a former British intelligence operative, Christopher Steele, who produced the infamous Steele dossier, and distributed it through the FBI and were exploiting it to subvert the Electoral College and hijack

Robert Gover wrote the cult classic One Hundred Dollar Misunderstanding. It might have been cutting-edge in 1962, when it was published, but not for long. Insofar as my subject here is related to President Biden, I can note that Hunter Biden’s misadventures have taken reality far beyond Gover’s satire. However, I have found Gover’s title an irresistible source of headlines for comments on the news. Today comes word via the New York Times that the Biden administration has entered into a $6 billion arrangement with Iran for the return of five imprisoned Americans. Fox News has posted an accessible story on the arrangement here. That’s quite an increase over the $400 million

Who is Barack Obama? You’d think a guy who’s penned three memoirs and is the subject of several authorized and unauthorized biographies would be an open book, but he isn’t, as most sentient Americans know. But now we’re learning more. A recent story in Tablet Magazine by David Samuels, which includes an interview with one of Obama’s biographers, David J. Garrow, gives us some clues about America’s first half-black, half-white president and why he has meticulously hidden details of his life from the American people. Basically, Barack Obama fantasized about gay sex and was a social-climbing, wanna-be billionaire who loathed his real-life story. Obama carefully refashioned a

The Democrats have long fancied themselves to be the party of science. They also fancy themselves the party of youth and diversity but are currently championing an 80-year-old white guy for a second term as president of the United States. What Democrats are known for, to those of us who don’t lap up their propaganda, is a chronic lack of self-awareness, about both themselves as people and their ideology. Pretty much everything that they believe to be true about Republicans and Democrats bears no resemblance to reality. They repeat the lies about themselves until those lies not only become true for them,

As a general rule, a prosecutor can’t establish criminality unless he demonstrates criminal intent. For that reason, Special Counsel Jack Smith is trying to establish that President Trump knew for a fact that he had lost the election. “Squeaky clean” is how nonpartisan pollster Mike Noble described Presidentish Joe Biden’s personal brand to NBC News, and I just threw up in my mouth a little. Maybe a lot. Over at NBC News Tuesday morning, Jonathan Allen and Natasha Korecki fret that Biden’s “brand is being tested like never before” and just “ahead of a close 2024 election,” too. You see, Biden’s brand “as a family-oriented public servant” (I just threw up some more) is being put to the test by nasty House Republicans “investigating the extent of Biden’s role in helping his son Hunter Biden earn millions of dollars from foreign business interests during his time as vice president.”

The elites may have to hold one of their show trials in Florida, but the grand jury had to be in D.C. Judge Aileen Cannon on Monday asked the Justice Department to explain its use of an out-of-state grand jury in the Mar-a-Lago case. While the Mar-a-Lago case is being handled out of her Fort Pierce, Fla., courtroom, much of the grand jury work ahead of the indictment was conducted through a Washington, D.C., grand jury. A D.C. grand jury is an obvious rubber stamp for political prosecutors. A D.C. grand jury would indict a ham sandwich, as long as it was a Republican. That’s why the real show is in Washington D.C.

Britain slept in the 1930s as an inevitable war with Hitler loomed. One of the most stalwart truth-tellers was a now little remembered politico and public servant Leo Amery, a polymath and conservative member of Parliament. Yet in two iconic moments of outrage against the Chamberlain government’s temporizing, Amery galvanized Britain and helped end the government’s disastrous policies.

Right after the election the charges of fraud surfaced, and at every opportunity, the Republicans were asked by the media and Democrats if the election was stolen

Adams slammed border states for creating a “funnel” to New York on “CBS Mornings” Thursday, saying, “New York City is the economic engine of this entire state and country. If you decimate this city, you’re going to decimate the foundation of what’s happening.” That foundation finally began to crumble earlier this month as dozens of migrants were left sleeping on the streets of Midtown outside the intake center at the Roosevelt Hotel

The independent senator's committee cut two $100,000 checks to the Sanders Institute for reported charitable contributions in January and March, its Federal Election Commission records show. The expenditures are the largest from the Sanders campaign to any entity this election cycle. The senator's wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the Sanders Institute in 2017 to act as a think tank to promote progressive voices, The Washington Post wrote at its launch.
