Eight percent. That’s the absurdly tiny fraction of America’s public-school teacher workforce aged 60-or-older who faced non-trivial mortality risk from COVID-19 before vaccines were available.
Eight percent also happens to be the share of Black 13-year-olds who – according to recently released federal data – performed at the top level in mathematics on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). And while traditional public schools have failed to deliver for disadvantaged students of color for far too long, these alarming numbers represent a significant drop in their performance since before the pandemic.

The fate of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin has become the source of intense speculation after he reached a deal with Moscow to go into exile. "The ‘Game of Thrones’ philosophy applies here: if you go for the king, you better kill the king," retired Adm. James Stavridis said of the news of Prigozhin's deal with the Kremlin during an appearance on "Meet the Press" on Sunday.
"Prigozhin didn't do that," Stavridis said. "He now is going to be isolated from the 35,000 fighters that have protected him. He's like a snake whose head has been cut off from its body."

"We're having a fetus!" "You want to feel the fetus kick?" These are some of the statements the latest ad from Focus on the Family uses to address abortion in its own way, challenging the term "fetus" used to address preborn babies. The faith-based organization launched the "It's a Baby" campaign on Wednesday, just days before the one-year anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Supreme Court ruling that effectively reversed the nearly 50-year precedent of nationwide access to abortion established by Roe v. Wade.

Score half a point for Donald Trump.
It turns out he was on to something with his claim the 2020 election was rigged, though not in the way he thinks. The dirty deed didn’t happen in offices in Arizona or Georgia, where Republicans supposedly were banished while Democrats counted duffel bags full of late-arriving votes.
Nor did Trump lose because computers were wired to rob him of victory.
Instead, the cheating that likely denied Trump a second term was very close to home.
In fact, it was an inside job.

“I’m not the deciding official.”
Those five words, allegedly from Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, shocked IRS and FBI investigators in a meeting on October 22, 2022. This is because, in refusing to appoint a special counsel, Attorney Garland Merrick Garland had repeatedly assured the public and Congress that Weiss had total authority over his investigation. IRS supervisory agent Gary A. Shapley Jr. told Congress he was so dismayed by Weiss’s statement and other admissions that he memorialized them in a communication to other team members.
Shapley and another whistleblower detail what they describe as a pattern of interference with their investigation of Hunter Biden

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley warned that if "half" of the IRS whistleblowers’ claims are true, then Hunter Biden’s tax evasion investigation’s "integrity and credibility would be greatly undermined." Turley told Fox News Digital that Americans "need to keep in mind that allegations are not proof" and that the whistleblowers' claims remain "unverified but clearly worthy of investigation."
However, if even partially accurate, the allegations would hurt the trust in the investigation into Hunter Biden's taxes.

A Russian government agency is opening a criminal investigation into Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin after he called for an armed rebellion on Friday, which was aimed at removing the country's defense minister. In a series of video and audio recordings, Prigozhin angrily accused Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu of ordering a rocket strike on the private military contractor's field camps where the group is fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine.
"This is not a military coup, but a march of justice," Prigozhin declared. "The evil embodied by the country’s military leadership must be stopped."
"This scum will be stopped," Prigozhin said, referring to Shoigu.

Leaders of 17 political parties in India agreed on Friday to form a united front against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Loose coalitions have been formed in the past, but not since the 1980s have so many different parties banded together on a national level to take on ruling party in government, The Indian Express reported.
"There certainly will be some differences among us but we have decided we will work together, work with flexibility," said Rahul Gandhi, a key figure in the Indian National Congress (INC) who was disqualified from parliament in March in a defamation case.

A bank account linked to President Biden's son Hunter Biden received more than $5 million in August 2017, shortly after his threatening messages — in which he said he was "sitting here" with his father — to a Chinese associate revealed this week by an IRS whistleblower, according to documents released by congressional investigators. On Aug. 4, 2017, Chinese firm CEFC Infrastructure Investment wired $100,000 to Hunter Biden’s law firm Owasco, according to a 2020 report published by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Then, days later on Aug. 8, 2017, CEFC Infrastructure Investment sent $5 million to Hudson

Who is authorized to tax the income of a commuter who doesn’t commute? This question—born of the pandemic and currently pending before the Supreme Court of Ohio—could be coming to a tax bill near you, and soon.
Following the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020, government orders forced millions of employees to work from home instead of at their usual offices. These orders accelerated a trend which had already begun toward remote and hybrid work and—three years later—is all but entrenched.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has been at the center of every left-wing hoax orchestrated against former President Donald Trump since 2016. From the trumped-up claims of Russian collusion to a fabricated scandal over military aid in Ukraine to the conspiracies surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot as a desperate effort to impeach, Schiff has been the primary conductor.
So on Wednesday, hours after John Durham detailed the special counsel’s findings in the Russia hoax investigation before the House Judiciary Committee, the lower chamber formally censured Schiff, who is presently seeking a seat in the Senate. The resolution passed 213-209

“Hunter is resolved.”
Those words yesterday from Hunter Biden’s counsel, Chris Clark, were confident and certain. He declared the “five-year investigation” effectively closed even as the Justice Department insisted the investigation is “ongoing.” If none of this seems to make sense, it is because it doesn’t.
For years, the political and media elite have struggled to “resolve” the disaster that is Hunter. They have finally done so with a long-predicted “controlled demolition” of the scandal by having the president’s son plead guilty to a couple of minor tax violations without a serious threat of jail time.
They even threw in a phantom felony allegation that will evaporate once Hunter completes
