First gas stoves, now wood-fired ovens.
New York City will be cracking down on wood-fired pizza joints to reduce carbon emissions by up to 75%.
“All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” Department of Environmental Protection spokesman Ted Timbers said in a statement to the New York Post on Sunday. “This common-sense rule, developed with restaurant and environmental justice groups, requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible.”

I love it. Leave it to the Dims to destroy an iconic NYC food. Soon NYC ballerinas and Rockettes will have to wear codpieces - out of 'equity', of course.

Yep. All those high end wood and coal pizza joints are in the low end neighborhoods, according to NYC. Shut ’em down, so the low end residents will have to truck to the high end neighborhoods to get electric oven pizza’s. Let ‘s be sure to eradicate taxis, too…their emissions are immense.

Words fail. People have been cooking with wood fires for what, 40,000 years, 60,000? It might go back to that first caveman who dropped a piece of Mastodon meat into a fire by accident. Every archaeological site in existence produces wood ashes and some form of cooking implements. New York city is going to save the world? They had better get their people civilized first. Ted Timbers is an idiot but then you already knew that.

Typical Brandon common non-sense rule that virtue signals nothing of value. Destined for the dustbin of history when common-sense adults regain control.

75% ??? Where do they pull these numbers from ? Out of their buttholes ? Further proof that ANYTHING that comes out of the mouths of public employees must be discarded immediately.

No evidence required.
When Democrats talk about "common sense rules" you can be sure it will not be common nor will it make any sense, but they sure as h e double l like to make ruled.
This is just more of the conditioning to get people to buy any nonsense and accept any restrictions on individual freedom.

Bureaucrats pay practicing job security. Now that the big stuff has been accomplished in cleaning up the air, they have to go deep into the weeds to find stuff to show that they and their department are still needed. Otherwise, the whole lot of them would be without a job. This is why bureaucracies never die!

#13 and that is why the public schools are a mess. Good teachers have to leave the classroom and become "administrators" in order to make mo5re money. As "administrators" they must continually change things in order to justfy their existence. IMO schools would be better with less administrtion and higher paid teachers snd eliminating teacher unions where successful teachers are paid the same as the incompetent

There's only a handful of wood fired pizzerias, which are by far the best. Closing these pizziolas won't even be a blip on the co2 radar. If you're in town, may I suggest you patronize Totonno's in Coney Island for the BEST pizza before it closes after near!y 100 years in business.

These people are absolutely, positively deranged and utterly, hopelessly stupid.
God is either shaking his head in disappointment or laughing himself silly. I can’t decide which.

Wood burning stoves and fireplaces are on the list, and BBQ cooking with wood or charcoal, fire pits, and only God knows how much air pollution comes from cigarettes. Fireworks should be outlawed. We have all seen the smoke the exploded shells produce. Basically they should just make eating and heating a crime punishable by death. I suggest that they cut down ALL the trees so that no one is tempted to light a fire while camping out to cook a hot dog and s'mores. I am tired of this f - ing nonsense and these stupid ass people. Leave us ALONE!

FTA: "This common-sense rule, developed with restaurant and environmental justice groups, requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible."
Here's the rub: "...requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible."
Who's the "professional?"
Answer: The "professional" is some guy or gal who has taken a few hours of classes on how to determine whether there is space available to install an emission control device (perhaps some kind of catalytic converter?). This professional will be given broad discretion to impose emission controls or to waive them. That person is in a classic position to extract bribes from pizza joints who will happily pay a few thousand to avoid an expense of tens of thousands to purchase and install an emission control device.
This provision could have been written by the Italian Cosa Nostra. Instead, it has been cooked up by the New York governmental bureaucracy.

FTA, "and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” There's your first clue Sherlock. It isn't the high end pizzerias in older neighborhoods and lower incomes with poor quality air. Its the coal stoves and heaters! More modern neighborhoods have abandoned coal heat and cooking. The issue isn't pizzerias, it out of date heating and cooking in poorer neighborhoods where priced controlled rent has left landlords without the money to update the tenant housing. But just as the Feds crack down on doctors for narcotic persists to fight the fentanyl epidemic (clue, it aint docs, its Mexican cartels walking fentanyl across our insecure borders) without any results, its an act of 'see how we are addressing the problem by punishing the law abiding innocent' approach to goobernment.

Nearly every pizzeria in Italy - - has a wood-fired stove. You see the "Forno A Legna" (Log Oven) signs everywhere.
New York - - with its massive Italian heritage - - was one of the few places in the USA to carry on this delicious tradition. Now the commies want to destroy it - - as they want to destroy everything which gives other people any pleasure.
And yet - - the dopes who nowadays inhabit New York City - - will continue to vote for the same commies who passionately hate them. Go figure.

How much of the rest of the world burns wood for cooking and heating? Compared to wood fired pizza joints, the NYC pizza places contribute almost 0.000000001 % in carbon emissions. But, politicians love to pass laws & ordinances that contribute NOTHING practical-its all for show. And just to prove how comical this effort is,,,,its being pushed by a guy named Timbers! You just cannot make this up.

Actually, #10, Buffalo dung was a popular fuel in flyover country for a long time because it was everywhere, easy to carry and was straw-based, hence a good source of fuel. Don't try dung fires today because we killed off the Buffalo and the only stuff on the streets of New York City? You don't want to touch it.

Meantime, China mined and Burned FOUR BILLION (4,000,000,000) TONS OF COAL in 2020, and has been putting a New COAL FIRED POWER PLANT IN COMMISSION EVERY WEEK for the last several years.
Of course, as a self-proclaimed 'Developing Nation', they exempt themselves from all the UN 'Climate' agreements and treaties.
