Are you ready for the government to take away your car? New proposed regulations on automobile emissions from the Environmental Protection Agency would require 60% of new car sales to be electric vehicles by 2030 and 67% by 2032, compared to the fewer than 6% that were on the road in 2022—for no environmental benefit. (Snip) The EPA is also planning new rules for power plants, driving up the costs of the electricity needed to charge these vehicles. These rules plus the EV sales mandate would raise driving costs for Americans and strengthen China’s economy, because China makes 80% of the world’s electric batteries.

We won't need cars anyway, after we get a permanent pandemic with a permanent lockdown. Only delivery people will need vehicles.

Kit cars are about to become mainstream. You can do this already, with very minimal mechanical skills and tools to avoid expense of useless safety features (assuming you are not an idiot and wear seatbelts). About as hard as IKEA furniture.

Fleet sales pollution standards are so high that large vehicles will be very hard produce without getting slapped down by the government. Look for electric car companies to partner with ICE car companies to sell their products because they have room under the cap. Tesla could start selling a significant number of Ferraris and their total fleet numbers would still be below mandated levels.

Sooo...your EV battery can/will run your entire house for 2-3 Days, but only move itself for 2-3hours...Tops? I'd like to see the solar production numbers for the last weeks worth of "Smoke Days" all across the country. I know from installing solar panels on long distance cruising sailboats(where they were really only needed to keep from having to run the engine, to maintain nav systems and keep the starting battery for the engine topped up, mere trickles) That even a little cloudyness or even a small percentage of shadow across a panel dropped it's capabilities dramatically.

Like in Cuba, fixing up old gas-powered cars will become a part of our newer underground economy. But she never backs up her claim that the gov't is going to take away your older gas cars. It only says buying new gas cars will be harder.

They are already doing it. If government regulations were rolled back to the more sane, yet perfectly safe and clean levels of the year 2000 and frozen there permanently, the cost of cars would be much lower, and performance would be much better. There have been improvements in the structural designs since then, due to advancements in computer simulation of the crushing and folding in accidents that is worth retaining because safety is much improved. STOP reducing the emission requirements. There are NO real benefits from more stringent emission regulations beyond about the year 2000, only economic harm.

This is just one more problem that a good revolution is going to solve. It would probably be a good idea to wait until the military is forced to switch to electric jeeps and tanks

We have been swimming upstream for years here at American Thinker, arguing that conversion of the automobile fleet to electric vehicles is a mistake, harming the environment more than helping it, and utterly impractical for a variety of reasons, including charging time and an entirely inadequate electrical grid, already at the breaking point. Yet the green image (and the subsidies) continue, impervious to the reality. (Snip) However, there are signs that the gravity of the practical problems with E.V. conversion are sinking in. Rowan Atkinson, who has become a global icon portraying "Mr. Bean," a character Atkinson describes as "a child in a man's body," is publicly raising these questions.

Has our species been trained now not to react to catastrophic danger or even extra super weirdness? And do we know what really happened on Wednesday in New York City? Last Wednesday I was in Brooklyn, New York, at about ten am. A remarkable study highlights a barely known exception to the generally accepted truism that black Americans’ poverty and unemployment rates are considerably higher than those of whites. (Snip) The black experience in Idaho clearly differs from the national narrative. Compare the astounding 30% earnings differential for blacks compared with elsewhere in the United States, where blacks overall earn only three-quarters of whites’ income. Long-term trends, their study says, include “fewer barriers to land ownership, smaller populations, well-knit communities, men’s involvement in the family, and a relatively less hostile [social and regulatory] environment than prevailed in other states.”

On the Memorial Day weekend, while most Americans played near water, the leftists impeached the strongest elected voice in Texas for election integrity — Ken Paxton. Impeachments were history book items until Clinton. (Snip) This one is a bit different. Paxton is the stand-up guy who — but for a very sketchy Supreme Court "standing" ruling — could have seriously upended the fraudulent election in 2020. He is ballsy, innovative, smart, and colorful. And he is the attorney general of a very big state — or was, as he now is suspended. It's now up to the state Senate.

Two new studies published this week on the same day. The Biochimie study described three separate, complex systems by which the covid proteins could promote cancer growth. The Cureus study described massive excess deaths in Germany in 2021-22, and suggested an astounding possible reason for them. Both studies are peer-reviewed. Both studies are lengthy and highly-footnoted. Both studies were very carefully written. Both are remarkable. But one of the studies is a limited hangout, a psyop that gives us a little bit of new, truthful information, information intended to distract us from the horrifying implications of the other study.

They point to the January 6 Capitol riot, the Patriot Front white supremacists who recently marched in Washington D.C., and yesterday’s crash into a security barrier near the White House of a U-Haul truck carrying a Nazi flag. But there is no evidence that white supremacy, domestic terrorism, and violent extremism are actually on the rise. By filing multiple January 6 cases rather than a single one, FBI inflated the statistics, as we documented yesterday. America’s All Volunteer Force turns 50 this year. Since 1973, the U.S. military has, with rare exceptions, met its annual recruitment goals and improved the quality of the force. Now, however, it is mired in its worst recruiting stretch in history. Last year, the Army missed its recruiting goal by 25% and already predicts it will miss again in 2023. Ditto the Air Force and Navy. Officials cite numerous reasons for the shortfall: low unemployment, a smaller pool of young people qualified to serve, declining public confidence in the military and more. Whatever the reasons, these recruiting failures portend trouble for military readiness.

San Francisco may not be irretrievably lost as a viable metropolis — yet. But its status as one of America’s great cities is gone and it’s hard to see how the once-golden city can return to its dazzling glory as a center of art, architecture, and commerce. It’s not unprecedented in America. St. Louis, Cleveland, Buffalo — all were once thriving cities. All have since lost at least half their population, and those who remain have failed to regenerate the vibrancy, the energy of the early to mid-20th century. But what’s truly shocking about the demise of San Francisco has been the speed at which the city has fallen

According to an Open the Books report released last month, the IRS has spent more than $35 million since 2006 on firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear for its glorified and federally empowered accountant force, with some $10 million of that taxpayer-funded armament coming since just 2020.
