Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is closing the gap on former President Donald Trump in the early nominating state of Iowa, according to an internal poll out this week. The survey by WPA Intelligence for the DeSantis-supporting Never Back Down super PAC showed the 44-year-old governor in a virtual tie with the 76-year-old Trump in a head-to-head contest. Trump had 45% support, while DeSantis had 43% support and 12% were undecided.
An early May head-to-head poll, taken before the Florida governor formally entered the race, showed Trump with 53% support, DeSantis on 39% and 8% undecided.
DeSantis also made up ground on Trump in an Iowa survey

Every election Rush Limbaugh would re-educate us on how to correctly look at polling.
Up until the final four weeks before election day, the goal of mass-market pollsters is not to provide an accurate reflection of public opinion, it is to shape public opinion.
But when we get close to election day, that behavior changes. Now the polls produced by the big polling outfits will help define their reputation for accuracy moving forward. No pollster wants to be known as “the one who got it wrong” and so they actually begin to reflect the public's actual position.

I stopped believing in polls long ago. DeSantis made a big mistake running this time. He should never have listened to the Bushes. But go ahead and play polling. We know better.

Virtual tie? We know better than to trust ''virtual reality.'' Get real, then get back to us.

"The survey by WPA Intelligence for the DeSantis-supporting Never Back Down super PAC..."
The candidate's in-house polling group reports their guy closing a 14-point gap to only two, and calls it a "head-to-head contest." I'm surprised they didn't manipulate the numbers to a real dead even, but I guess they knew the public wouldn't buy that big of a lie. Ron and his clique are trying too hard. It shows. They'll eventually have their Jeb! "Please clap" moment. It'll be fun.

Golly dang, # 1. This Floridian had no idea that voting for Trump twice, and now being inclined to support DeSantis, made him a "Never Trumper", I guess it's true what they say - you learn something new every day.

I like both Trump and DeSantis and would happy to see either as president. It can get silly when some who once liked DeSantis hate him because they back another horse.

Polls really don't make a lot of sense these days.

Right there with you #9. Who knew that my concerns with Donald Trump being a one-term candidate would make me a Never Trumper? Also, sometimes it comes across that Donald Trump deserves and has every right to a second term. Kind of sounds like Barack Obama's reasoning for his actions. As far as I am concerned, a president has to earn that second term. I don't think Donald Trump did enough during his four years to address election issues and he knows what it took to get elected in 2016.

p.s. They didn't hesitate to do recounts in 2016. I think there were three states - Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania?

Wake me up in a year and let's see where things stand at that time. We're a year and a half away from elections. That's about three years overdue as far as I'm concerned. Next year at this time, we'll be talking about the conventions, and perhaps under restrictions put in place by this administration in preparation for the election. So, polling results at this point is pointless. In fact, polling is pointless at any time. A poll can be made to get the results the pollster wants on any subject.

Exactly, #8. “Internal poll.” Look, governor, I like you. You want to run for President, do it. But, please stop with these silly, transparent, Rovian tactics. It makes you look foolish. I honestly think you are better than that.

All Candidates have their Own Internal Polling. Not something new! Also, do you really expect Trump's numbers to stay where they are forever. DeSantis is going to see his numbers rise, that doesn't mean Trump's won't go up as well. But for heaven sake, DeSantis has only been campaign for a week or so! His Polls are expected to go up as he Campaigns in States all over the Country and people get to know him and hear of his accomplishments in Florida! It's a LONG time until Election Day, a lot can happen! Good idea would be to point your Fire towards Biden and not at Republican Candidates!

You got to remember that both Fox News and the N.Y. Post are owned and operated by a family with no love lost when it comes to Trump.
