Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a recent interview with NBC News, pushed back on comments from Republican politicians who are hesitant to keep bolstering Ukraine’s military against Russia. Zelenskyy joined NBC News to talk about Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive and his requests for additional weapons and aircraft for Ukrainian forces. (snip) Richard Engel asked Zelenskyy to respond to Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis’s characterization of the Ukraine-Russia conflict as a “territorial dispute” and fellow Republican candidate Donald Trump’s vow to quickly end the conflict and sue for peace between the two countries. “If any candidate thinks supporting Ukraine is too costly, are they ready to go to war? Are they ready to fight?

Ukraine is not a member of NATO. We do not have any treaties with them that mandate that we have to protect them militarily. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada!!!!! This is not a war of "good guys" versus "bad guys". This is a war of "bad guys" versus "worse guys". It's not our war, and certainly hasn't ever been justifiable to spend over $100,000,000,000 of US tax dollars defending Ukraine. Sadly, all this is is the swamp creatures in DC using this to keep people from noticing how terrible and quickly Senile Joe bidet, the Demon-Rats, and their RINO Republi-Can't allies in Congress, are destroying our republic for their own power and wealth!!!!!

Even our pusillanimous, woke, substandard, LGBTQX military can beat the Russians at this point in time. They were caught with a weak, under-equipped, unmotivated and clueless army when they invaded Ukraine. We can let Zelinskyy bluster and keep taking our free money or we can set Putin straight with a real leader running the US Military. What will it be?

Zelensky, bud out of American politics. Ukraine is known for growing wheat. Stick to that. You are beginning to get on everyone's nerves. I am tired of learning how much of our tax $$$$ is invested in your generals' retirement accounts and Ukrainian soldiers pay. You should have enough money from your own country to pay for it. Of course, you could lay off your cocaine and your wife's trips to Paris it could save some money.

I did a search and didn’t come up with an English version of this announcement. It is obviously a Russian response to the Storm Shadow attack on a bridge in Crimea. Doctorow is generally very reliable, so I assume that his wording reflects the Russian original. So, what I would draw attention to is the specification of ““the decision making centers” of the Kiev regime. We all know that those decision making centers are not necessarily located within the geographical boundaries of Ukraine. Does this mean that Russia will target US/UK decision making centers in Poland and Romania?
