Sen. Lindsey Graham is now a wanted man in Russia after an edited video of him was released, where he appeared to celebrate the deaths of Russian soldiers. Graham said in a statement on Monday that he would "wear the arrest warrant issued by Putin's corrupt and immoral government as a Badge of Honor." "Here's an offer to my Russian 'friends' who want to arrest and try me for calling out the Putin regime as being war criminals: I will submit to jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court if you do. Come and make your best case. See you in The Hague!"

Wouldn't it be terrible if you had to keep a Geiger counter around to test ever pot of tea you brew? Vlad the Mad has been known to infuse teas with extremely poisonous polonium (Po: 210 atomic weight). If consumed, the tea kills in days, in horrible ways. Fortunately, brave Sir Lindsey can order a Geiger counter from Amazon. Or hire a royal food taster. And treble his security detail. Life wouldn't be any fun without an enemy or two.

House passes debt ceiling bill in blowout
vote just five days before expected default

The House voted on Wednesday to raise the debt ceiling, marking the first step toward avoiding economic catastrophe just five days before the Treasury's deadline for default. Lawmakers easily passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act in a 314-117 vote, with 165 Democrats joining 149 Republicans to back the legislation. The bill, a bipartisan compromise crafted by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and the White House, now heads to the Senate, where a single senator can hold up its passage. The vote comes after a massive whip operation by both parties, with Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) delivering McCarthy the support needed to get the bill across the finish line.

WASHINGTON - A bill to suspend the U.S. government's $31.4 trillion debt ceiling and avert a disastrous default cleared a key procedural hurdle in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, setting the stage for an vote on the bipartisan debt deal itself. Republicans control the House by a narrow 222-213 majority. But the deal will need support from both Speaker Kevin McCarthy's Republicans and President Joe Biden's Democrats to pass, as members of both parties object to significant parts of the legislation. The procedural vote, which allows for the start of debate and then a vote on the bill itself, passed by a vote of 241-187

The former vice president, a longtime advocate of the priorities of traditional conservatives on social and economic issues, will join the race at a time when his onetime boss, former President Donald Trump, claims a majority in most national polls and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is in a clear second place. Redefining himself to Republican voters, most of whom know him primarily as Trump's vice president, will be a challenge.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy helped secure a debt limit deal – now he has to secure its passage in the House, with little room for error and a looming threat to his speakership. In a win for McCarthy, the bill cleared a key hurdle Tuesday evening when the powerful House Rules Committee voted 7-6 to advance the debt ceiling bill to the floor. The bill will come to floor Wednesday for debate and a final passage vote before it goes to the Senate. The Rules Committee vote had been highly anticipated due to the fact that some of the loudest conservative critics of the bill are members of the panel.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that the debt-ceiling deal agreed by House Republicans and President Joe Biden will reduce budget deficits by about $1.5 trillion between 2023 and 2033.
