Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor who has branded himself as the only Republican willing and able to take down former President Donald Trump, will enter the 2024 presidential race next week, according to reports.
He has been expected to join the race and will formally make the announcement at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday during a town hall at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. The announcement was first reported by Axios and then confirmed by CNN. Christie joins a growing field of GOP presidential candidates, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, South Carolina congressman Rep. Tim Scott, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley and former Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson.

Chris Christie? Overweight guy from New Jersey? He used to be in the news a lot. Old Rinos never die, they just fade away.

welcome to USA Today, where the genius writers don't know that Scott is a senator, not a representative. It's incredible that someone who doesn't know that would be assigned to write about politics, and even more incredible that the editors didn't catch the error. And people pay to subscribe to this?

The only two who have a chance are Ron and Don. The also ran are looking at VP status. But there are SEVERAL that have nothing better to do than play pretend and I don't know why they waste their time and money. Asa and Chris could team up and together they would not get 1% of the primary vote. Why do they do this?

Put $20 on a bunch of Powerball lottery tickets Chris. You have a better chance of winning.
Or, spend that $20 on four Big Mac burgers for your lunch.
New Jersey is no place to look for good leadership.

Moby Dick really turned out to be a major major disappointment. This is his '"payback'" for not getting the AG job during PDJT admin. He didn't get that job likely because Kushner put the kibosh n it which was understandable. I wish this blob would just go away. Worse yet I voted for him for Gov twice before I left that S hole which NJ has become.

There has only been ONE president that didn't bring his homestate with him...Trump.
Christie cannot deliver NJ, never has before..not for the Presidential ticket, not even for any down ticket races. He and Sununununu...both ran states that haven't supported a Repub since Reagan.
Much like Romney who though a Governor, couldn't deliver his either, until he carpet bagged it to the west.

Interesting— I think we could argue that Trump’s home state where he actually spends his time is Florida, but yeah. Also Al Gore came very close to being the first in 2000, losing Tennessee.

Every time I see this rotund RINO putz, I remember two things. His shutdown of all NJ beaches but vacationing on one with family and friends and him being Obama's Hardy to his Laurel. My brother was like those two should get a room. He has a fat chance (pun intended) in hell in getting the nod for President. This is just his way to get money because donuts at Dunkin and Krispy Kreme aren't cheap.

One odd tidbit about Christie that has been forgotten is that he was quite popular and effective in his first term as NJ governor. He won a second term with over 60% of the votes but not long after that election his ambition went to his head and he started to frequently travel out of state on a futile quest to get onboard with Trump. NJ voters noticed this and soon his numbers fell badly while he paid little attention to NJ political affairs.
