Crime-Ridden Los Angeles Reinstates Controversial

The controversial zero bail policy in Los Angeles has been reinstated on the grounds that it violates the suspects’ constitutional rights. The zero bail policy was reinstated following a ruling by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, Lawrence Riff, who granted a preliminary injunction that prohibits the city and county from requiring cash bail from individuals who have not yet been arraigned.

Comments:

Leftists are borrowing heavily from Islam on this. In Islam ALL interest on loans equal "usary." But the actual definition of usery is EXCESSIVE interest. So, too, our Constitution's 8th Amendment forbids EXCESSIVE bail.

Cool. So if a bunch of responsible citizens tar and feather the judge, and are caught and arrested, they will be released without bail and can flee to a safe state.

They aren't arrested for being poor, they are arrested for criminal behavior. There is supposed to be clear probably cause for their detention, none of which happen to be "poor". The solution is really simple. Lay off the entire cop shop AND the courts. Fire those real smart judges like this one. Let justice return to its roots...vigilantism. Screw up, get hung, simple. Bail doesn't even exist in that justice model. No more tears.

8th Amendment: "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted." Have they ever actually read the constitution? That's a rhetorical question, we know the answer.

When someone has had success in beating off a global pandemic, shouldn't they maybe get some kind of laurels? At a minimum, it would makes sense to learn what they learned so as to get the same result. That's how actual science works, or at least, it did. Not to the global bureaucrats of the World Health Organization (WHO), which can't stop telling African countries on a continent that has great success in beating COVID, what to do.

Who among us could have guessed a few years back that today gender ideology would be the clearest, most divisive matter of contention separating the American left from the right? To those reasonably grounded in reality, the notion that gender is fluid, that a Supreme Court Justice would be unable to define the word “woman,” that men can give birth, and that children can and should be mutilated if they are confused about their own gender identity is not only sheer lunacy, it is barbaric.

Therefore, devoted future doctors in Minnesota are pledging to wokeness and a complete righting of the world’s wrongs. (snip) What arguably stands out most is the group’s denouncement of science. Western medicine only has value if it’s the correct approach to physical health.

No one appears to have been in charge at Black Lives Matter for months. The address it lists on tax forms is wrong, and the charity's two board members won't say who controls its $60 million bankroll, a Washington Examiner investigation has found. BLM's shocking lack of transparency surrounding its finances and operations raises major legal and ethical red flags, multiple charity experts told the Washington Examiner. "Like a giant ghost ship full of treasure drifting in the night with no captain, no discernible crew, and no clear direction," CharityWatch Executive Director Laurie Styron said of BLM.

Happy Thanksgiving! But beware the "tragedy of the commons." It almost killed off the pilgrims. Now, via Washington, D.C., it's probably coming for us. Tragedy of the commons is a concept from an essay by ecologist Garrett Hardin. He wrote how cattle ranchers sharing a common parcel of land soon destroy that land.

Is There a Polite Way to Handle the Pronoun Madness? 32 replies
Posted by Hazymac 5/28/2023 4:06:24 PM Post Reply
One of the most maddening things about modern culture is the whole issue of pronouns. At the very least, it’s annoying that some people trumpet their pronouns, choosing to base their identity on how people address them when talking about them behind their backs. But it’s even worse the way some people freak out over people using the wrong pronouns as if other people have nothing better to do than keep up with what everybody’s pronouns are at any given moment. Prounoun obsession is the ultimate form of narcissism; it’s entirely self-focused to think that everyone should bend to the whim of what you want to call yourself.
