Now if only put their vote where their mouth is. These people may have voted for her, but this being AOC, never put it pass her that she is stealling elections. Even if it isn't necessary.

Congress released a bill package Sunday to increase the nation’s debt limit in exchange for a number of Republicans’ desired spending cuts and other concessions. House lawmakers will have three days to review the 99-page bill, called the Fiscal Responsibility Act, before they are set to vote for it as soon as Wednesday. The bill can be viewed here. House GOP leadership said in a statement that the legislation, which raises the debt ceiling through January 2025, included a “historic series of wins.”“The Fiscal Responsibility Act does what is responsible for our children, what is possible in divided government, and what is required by our principles and promises,” the leaders said.

This Memorial Day, I want my children to know that every move we make is a costly move. A hotdog barbecued in the backyard is a lavish expense. The price of watching a parade is exorbitant. Admission to the National Memorial Day Concert on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol is incalculable. On the last Monday of May we honor the men and women who pay for our freedom. The cost of their immeasurable sacrifices is foundational to every move we make. (Video)

Some Democrat leaders have acknowledged some of the losses in the debt ceiling negotiations and have urged their fellow members to vote “yes” anyway. According to Congressional reporter Max Cohen, former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has been urging his colleagues to vote “yes” despite some of their misgivings.“Despite these setbacks, we must save the American economy from Republicans’ irresponsible and radical plans to impose a damaging default. The failure to do so would have catastrophic impacts on every American, every family, and the global economy,” Hoyer reportedly said.

The pictures say it all: America is overwhelmed. At the southern border, migrants camp out in a muddy no-man's land between California and Mexico. Some 2,500 miles away, buses crammed with migrants leave Manhattan through bridges and tunnels — an effort by struggling New York City officials to shift the problem to smaller cities upstate.Immigration monitors predicted a surge of migrants when pandemic-era entry restrictions lapsed earlier this month. It did not materialize, but millions of asylum seekers and other migrants without papers had already entered the country.

Has something finally intervened to change the 2024 calculus? “Inertia” is an interesting word. It comes from the Latin iners, which means, first of all, “without skill,” “incompetent” (in, not + ars, art, skill). But it also means “sluggish,” “weak,” “inactive,” “motionless.” In common speech, “inertia” generally suggests something torpid, sleepy, without spunk or initiative. “Joe wanted to go to the race but was overcome by inertia and stayed home.” But there is another, more potent sense of “inertia” in common usage. It is implicit in the definition Newton gives in his first law of motion.
